The trailer was spacious & clean with all necessary equipment. My dog has had surgery 3 times and this was the easiest. The incision is small and looks fine. I got 3 other quotes and this was the most inexpensive too. I completely trust Dr Kovac and absolutely recommend!

Our pup would get very anxious around other dogs, and we liked the idea of her being the only dog "in the office", and had heard good things about Dr. Kovac. His ability to calm and gain trust with animals before and while "doing his work" sets him apart from other vets, and is his absolute priority. Witnessing his approach upon our first visit with him, made me regret not finding him sooner. He cares deeply about the health and comfort of his patients and their humans. After a short battle with bone cancer, we recently realized it was time to let our dog go. I had been staying in touch with Dr Kovac since her initial diagnosis for guidance and reassurance, and made the call for the final appointment. He gave me the information I needed to be certain that I was making the right decision and graciously took the time to make a plan to help my daughter (who has some disabilities, and was best friends with our pup) understand, accept, and actively participate in the decision with the family. Our dog passed peacefully and with dignity in her favorite spot, in the sunshine, with her people close. It is difficult to articulate our gratitude for Dr. Kovac after this experience. But I can say that that I have never met a more gracious, kind, skilled, experienced, and compassionate vet. When we're ready to bring a new dog into our family, we know who our vet will be. Thank you, Dr. Kovac.

I have been taking my dogs to Union Hill Animal Hospital for multiple years, and I truly cannot say…read moreenough good things about the care they provide. What sets them apart is that they always do what is best for the dog and not just what is standard or easiest. My sweet Chloe had significant anxiety, was not a fan of strangers, and struggled with leash aggression. From the very beginning, the team met her exactly where she was. Instead of automatically taking her to the back for testing, they worked with me and performed exams and testing in the room with me assisting, which made a huge difference for her comfort level. If an appointment ever became too much for her, we stopped because their priority was keeping it a positive, low-stress experience. Their attention to detail was incredible. They kept thorough notes and truly knew Chloe...how to enter the room, how to speak to her, how to get down to her level, and how to help her feel safe. They also worked closely with me to find the right medications to help manage her anxiety, which greatly improved her quality of life. Because of the care and trust they built over time, going to the vet became a "happy" experience for her. Almost like a treat. That meant everything to me, especially when it came time for her end-of-life care. Despite being in pain, Chloe was calm, comfortable, and able to enjoy all the final treats. The process was incredibly peaceful and handled with so much compassion, even in such an emotional moment. Union Hill Animal Hospital treats your pets like family and truly sees them as individuals. I will forever be grateful for the care they gave Chloe and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a veterinary team that leads with empathy, patience, and heart.

It seems that the only time he's actually available might be when he gets the opportunity to mangle or maim a cat, and he almost seems to take delight in declawings. He doesn't bother to check whether the cat's actual caretaker or owner wants the declawing (which is a cruel and inhumane process banned in the EU and Australia where the cat's finger-bones are painfully removed, best case scenario with a scalpel, worst-case with a device resembling a cigar cutter. I don't know which Dr. Knapper uses, but it doesn't really matter that much), and will happily perform the painful procedure as long as somebody, anybody, pays him. Recently, he declawed my sister's cat, Charlie, who is now hobbling around the house on painfully infected paws and is potentially in danger of losing one of them because his toes are so swollen, puss-covered, and purple. They're still bleeding weeks later, which isn't normal for a legitimate medical procedure. A few years ago we had a similar situation with my cat Miles, who my mother paid him to declaw, who is still hobbling around the house to this day and, at only four years old, is already showing signs of back pain. All in all, unless you're wanting to mutilate your animal, I would suggest taking them to an actual animal hospital. I like Westwood Animal Hospital just across State Line, but there are also great affordable professional options throughout downtown, Westport, and Waldo, many of which will refuse to perform such barbaric "operations". TLDR: Doctor Knapper is a no-go unless you plan on mutilating your cat and leaving them in pain for years to come.

The staff was patient with me on the day of the surgery, kept me informed and moved my dog through the process efficiently. She survived the anesthesia, cleaning and extractions and should enjoy a few more years of life with clean breath and no pain. Dental work is expensive because it is time consuming and requires surgical skill to close wounds at extraction sites. The work done on my dog was necessary and reasonably priced. It is a wonderful office with friendly techs and knowledgable doctors. I would rate it SIX STARS.
