Nurse Rachel from the week was extremely patient with our questions and she took the time to explain the equipment & medication. Weekend Nurse Rachel was just as patient also. Suncrest even provided counseling for the family, we were not expecting that. Everyone we spoke with were kind and sensitive to our needs and we appreciated that. The only negative was the delivery of the medicine we felt took a bit long to arrive in our opinion, but that was it. We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Suncrest Home Health and Hospice.

My dad just passed away this month in Vitas hospice care. Although we only had their healthcare…read moreservices for just about 10 days, the case manager nurse and home health aide were wonderful and kind going beyond their normal service to accommodate the family and the wishes of the patient. The hospice doctor visited and ordered nebulizer with mask to ease the breathing and upon our request, also ordered an IV drip so dad could live for another 48 hours until all the out of town children arrived to say goodbye. The nurse and the aide accurately called how much time he had, the aide volunteered to sit with dad after hours while I went to the airport to pickup my siblings. My mom's 91 and when she needs hospice or palliative care, we'll be using Vitas again. A caveat: their hardware services could do with improvements on timely delivery and pickups and all equipment being delivered. Apparently, the two divisions are managed and run separately. I viewed it as a collateral rather than the primary healthcare and comfort of the patient issues.

But Dad, albeit exhausted after years of taking care of Mom, was brought into Classic Care and treated with exceptional kindness. He lasted three more years and just passed away this week. From the moment of entering Classic Care Home Dad was treated like "the Admiral"(yes he was ex-Navy) and was showered with kindness. Our family was very fortunate to receive a referral which led us to the doorstep of Classic Care Home of Walnut Creek. Beth and Ed Quintong, their family members and their family of exceptional caregivers; Maria, Lynn, JoJo, Peter and Chris, were able to provide our Mom with extraordinary care and companionship when she most required it. Affording her a true sense of home, safety and belonging in her final years. Beth and her care-giving staff make a point of personally connecting with their residents. This allows them the insight to identify and provide for the individual's needs beyond rote care scenarios. It translates to more opportunities for residents to experience joy and contentment, despite the daily challenges with which they contend. Encouragement and personal social engagement are the cornerstones of Classic Care's approach to providing positive and caring support for their residents. Most importantly, they listen and address any concerns as they arise. That applies to both the residents and the family members. Beth, Ed, their family and the extraordinary individuals who provide this "classic" care to the residents, demonstrate an uncommon benevolence and personal concern for those in their charge. She was flexible with the schedule, as we often didn't know until a day or two prior what the needs would be. I googled Hospice and came across MD Choice that had some good reviews. I had no idea who I was calling but there had to have been some divine intervention pushing me to this call and this company. After a few questions I received a call from Dr De Leon who was the most compassionate and caring doctor I have come across. He sensed my immediate need, came straight out to the house, assessed my mother and went himself to the pharmacy to pick up the needed medications. He knew the urgency and took it upon himself to do all the footwork. He obtained the needed comfort medication, stabilized my mother and allowed my mother to pass peacefully all within a matter of hours from making that initial call. When she did pass that evening, he again, arranged for everything from the pronouncing to the calls according to the pre-arrangements. Without MD Choice and the connection with Dr De Leon, I don't know how I would have been able to handle the situation. His immediate response on a Sunday, his Taking control of the situation and quick actions made such a difference in the final few hours my mother had. If you find yourself in a situation like this and needing someone to help in this time, I highly recommend MD Choice and Dr De Leon. I am forever grateful to MD Choice and Dr De Leon for acting so quickly and with such caring and love in this terrible time of need. The patience, compassion, and attentiveness of the nurses were unmatched! They not only took care of my grandma in her final days; they took care of my whole family! The nursing team communicated daily with their counterparts (i.e., patient needs/preferences) when shifts were ending/starting. My CNA's were also wonderful. Employees always had a smile on their face, no matter what their areas of responsibility were, a testament to the positive work environment. Cleanliness was a top priority. Every team member took his/her job seriously and with pride. The positive team dynamics I experienced are a direct reflection of the leadership skills of Judith Gasmin, Director of Nursing. Both she & Herna Mellizo, Assistant Director of Nursing, appeared in my doorway daily to check in and be sure everything was going smoothly for me. I appreciated the diversity of the therapy (PT & OT) teams as well. They tried to accommodate me into their a.m. schedule whenever possible. Shadelands has continued to follow up with me.
