I had an issue with a window replacement project that went completely wrong. I was at a loss with…read morethe company and when I had 2 other companies come to look at the issue to get other professional opinions, they told me what was wrong but nothing they said would factor into the company that did the work for them to correct anything. One of the guys helped me and said to contact Mr. Fix It from AM620, so I email him the situation. He referred me to Dave Nason. Both responded back to me in a short time and when I called Dave to leave a message he answered and spent a good chunk of time on the phone with me. He explained the process of the inspection to me and fees up front. We did the inspection so I had something to go back to company with. After he looked at everything we sat and discussed things. He broke down all the terminology for me. After talking he even helped me further in referring me to NARI. They act as consumer protection and I didn't realize that. The company that did the work was from Illinois so I had to contact their chapter (which he even looked into for me here in WI and contacted me when he couldn't find them). NARI came to do an onsite inspection and Dave was present for that to speak on my behalf. Once all that got settled the company had to repair all issues at no cost to me and they did pay for Dave to be present to make sure they did it right this time. I was so thankful for his knowledge. His background is architecture and fire/water restoration (along with inspections) - which helped me out quite a bit because those were the issues here. He is very knowledgeable and dependable and I couldn't thank him enough for what he did to help me. He will be straight with you and not give you phony resolutions. After calling up and speaking with his assistant about his rates and time, I noticed that it was a little more expensive than other home inspectors. She did mention that it is since he is the best, has the best reports, gets on the roof, and takes his time going through. I took Norm and her word for it and had Mark take a look at the property. His assistant called to let me know that he was running late due to traffic yet he still showed up on time, which is always a plus. We spent more than 4 hours looking through EVERYTHING, and I mean he looked at and tested everything. I have been told that most inspectors don't go up on roofs anymore yet Mark got up on the roof, snapped pictures, and was checking it out for 15 minutes. Mark uses a digital camera to take dozens of pictures and has a laptop on site that he uploads them to right away. He puts together his digital report as he goes. In all he provided a digital PDF copy of the report that was 37 pages long with so much detail. Not only did it include a few pictures on each page, descriptions, but also diagrams of how to correct it or what it should look like. Mark also knew I was a first time duplex buyer and would educate me along the way, show me various items, and explain things in detail so I would understand and know for the future. He was very educational and helpful. He may be a little more expensive than others yet what he found I was able to get some serious money knocked off the price so it was money very well spent. Highly recommend Mark and will be using him in the future.

He says some inspection places don't do the report on-site and I think that would be really inconvenient. As we were talking he mentioned some things that I then asked him to include in the report and he was happy to do so. What a drag it would have been to go over it all myself and ask for changes later. You can't go wrong here if you need the best.

Lifetime was recommended to us for Radon mitigation. I appreciate the sales guy for answering all…read moreof my questions. They tried to sell me a back up sump, but weren't too pushy on it. One important quality is that they weren't creating any false sense of urgency. Radon isn't great for health and absolutely should be addressed, but it also wasn't a threat to my health. The installer was professional and also patient with my questions. He fully explained exactly what the system was doing, what it was going to look like, and A couple weeks later, the electrician came through to permanently hook up the mitigation system. He was also professional and very personable, and made sure we had no questions. With the provided follow up test that we just plopped in a usps box, our radon levels dropped from over 9 to less than .9! One thing to keep in mind if you're getting a radon mitigation system installed: you'll have a big ol white tube going up the side of your house And out your roof. For a higher fee (I believe it was 400), you can have them route it out your garage to be inconspicuous. Last thing: we were worried about the fan being loud. I can't hear it at all. Aligned on a quote for a complete removal, reframing, and refinishing of patio stairs in May and insisted on 50% down at that time to secure a timeslot on their schedule. After repeated delays, the owner John finally showed up to start the project in August. He proceeded to demo the stairs (as well as damage exterior siding in the process) and then stated that there was water damage that he was not comfortable dealing with and that he would finish the work after a restoration service repaired the OSB. We had a restoration expert replace the boards and when we called John to finish the stairs he committed to a date. The day before he was supposed to show up, he emailed to say that he was no longer available to finish the project. When we asked about a refund for the down payment, he insisted that the time spent demo'ing the stairs consumed the 50% down. The quote was for 12 hours of labor and all he did was remove 3 stairs that were already falling apart. I've heard from another client who said I got off lucky because the work he actually did at their house was shoddy and required repair shortly after. Buyer beware!
