They're located in the outdoor Hanging Ditch area of the Corn Exchange, so you must go through their entrance and can't access the restaurant directly from within the Corn Exchange. There is a large step to enter, and then a set of stairs so it isn't the most disabled-friendly location, there is a lift though if you require it. I've dined in multiple times during the years, but more recently I've used their offering on Uber Eats, to make use of my Uber ONE membership and ongoing promotions I've had on my account. On my most recent two visits, I ordered their Winter Bundle, which consists of a portion of dough balls and a pizza, opting for the gluten-free dough balls and gluten-free Double American Pizza, which is a delivery-exclusive pizza from their most recent menu update which is their regular American pizza, but with double the pepperoni and cheese. My pizza was really tasty, it packed a punch in terms of flavour, while the dough balls were just ordinary and would have been inedible without a generous dollop of garlic butter. On both occasions, the food was delivered very quickly and arrived piping hot, credit should go to both their delivery partner as well as Pizza Express for packaging the food well, although putting a few napkins in the bag would be helpful! The staff seem friendly when dining in the restaurant, again this is common with Pizza Express. PRO TIP: Be sure to take advantage of their Pizza Express Club loyalty scheme on their app, after just a couple of visits you can get a bunch of freebies to make your trip more affordable. Without these offers, it can be a little pricey however once you unlock the gold tier you're able to get bonuses such as a free soft drink, bottled water, dough balls, coffee and Dolcetti and the list continues. 4* - Pizza Express generally has a VERY good standard across all their locations in Manchester city centre, so any regional manager they do have certainly is doing a good job here and this branch is another example of that.

On this particular visit I had my favourite starter which is the Bruschetta con Funghi. I really enjoyed it, and it was piping hot when it was served which I love. It seems strange to come to a pizza restaurant and not have a pizza but I was determined to sample a non-pizza offering on this occasion. I tried the chicken pesto penne and wasn't disappointed. Perhaps not something I would want every time but it was delicious. One issue I have generally with Pizza Express is their crazy pricing. There is no way I would consider going there without using a tastecard or other similar offer.

Been meaning to try out Five Guys for ages. Heard mixed things about it. First heard about them…read morewhen I was in London years ago and it happened to be when they had just opened a restaurant there and there was a huge queue. When they first came to Manchester it was in the Trafford Centre which I am rarely in. A couple times I have been, walked passed it and tempted. Looked at menu and it seemed expensive for a "fast food" burger (with drinks and fries it was about £13 or something like that). In the US, Five Guys is more like a fast food restaurant like McDonalds with the price being similar - price here in the UK is approaching "proper" restaurants. At the start of 2017 they opened restaurant in Arndale Centre so closer to me. I also heard from someone that the "Little Burgers" they sell are a decent size so the price of things doesn't seem too bad. I do like how you can have lots of different toppings so lots of options, did like that you could see the kitchen and see your burger being made. So I went for the Little bacon cheeseburger and some fries. Burger was OK. You get a lot of fries - had food to takeaway and loads of fries at the bottom of the bag. That is not a complaint! :) I went for the cajun style fries which had a bit of a kick to them - they tasted pretty good.  So overall, its OK. Better than McDonalds but its far from being best burger in Manchester.

Inside, it is quite new and follows traditional Five Guys decor of quotes etc about the brand and newspaper clippings from cities such as Edinburgh and London. The staff had a decent knowledge about me being gluten free. Gluten Free orders can be served without a bun in either a bowl or lettuce wrap and the chips and the 11 toppings are gluten free, you can have as many or little of the toppings for free including hot sauce, tomato sauce, mushrooms, tomatoes, onion and lettuce. You only pay extra for cheese and bacon. I ordered a mini cheeseburger in a bowl with ketchup, mayo, grilled onions and tomatoes, the mini burger is one patty instead of two and is £2.20 cheaper, I found the taste of it to be bland and dry, meanwhile the toppings were cold and it wasn't served in the most impressive ad appetising of conditions, for example, the top was covered in seasoning as the chips had become to flow. The chips were fresh, and I liked how they stated where they were sourced from, but the portion size was too large even for a 'small chips' hence it overflown into my bag, which I didn't like either. A cheaper option to reflect the meaning of small is needed. Ths service wasn't spectacular, the ordering station felt too crowded and cramped but the chips were seasoned well and the overall feel was good too but due to reasons mentioned mainly the poor burger and price, I feel this branch of Five Guys only deserves a two star rating.

A short walk away from Manchester Oxford Road Station and St Peter's Square, this Pizza Express…read morestore is probably their best out of the half a dozen or so they have in the city centre of Manchester, yet it is also surprisingly the quietest compared to locations in the Corn Exchange, on Peter Street and in Piccadilly Gardens. Inside, they had ample seating on ground level and then up a few steps where they have more seating and an open kitchen, they do regularly have discounts going on here too from Sunday - Thursday including the Tastecard 241 offer as well as a regular 25% off if you register online or a 30% off student discount through TOTUM, you virtually never have to pay full price as long as you don't visit on a Friday or Saturday. The staff seemed really friendly here, even though there were five not including those in the kitchen to one customer, they did seem friendly and they didn't slack off, they tried to keep themselves occupied which I'm sure will keep the management proud as they were earning their paycheck. A staff member even offered to cut up my pizza for me, which I thought was showcasing excellent service as it can be a little hard to cut without messing the pizza up, especially on a blackboard. My food came pretty quickly and the pizza was good, while I think it could have had a little more cheese as the pizza was bare in some (yet small parts), I felt it was seasoned well and the chicken was pretty good quality with cajun spices and spicy peppers, the one flaw was with the base which I found to be a little wet and too thin, but sadly gluten free pizza bases are pretty crappy anyway outside of Rome, so considering that the pizza was still pretty good. Fast service with nice staff, great quality toppings and ease of saving money and never having to pay full price Sunday-Thursday are some of the highlights of this place, perhaps the forgotten about but a better branch of Pizza Express in the city. They do need to try and work on their gluten-free pizza base though and perhaps improving the temperature of their tap water as it wasn't fully cold. 4*

Its front is also covered with rather faded posters proclaiming it to serve the "best kebabs in Manchester", a bold claim that I'm unable to verify considering I've never tried them. However, if you're looking for something more substantial, they also do some serious tasty 3-curries-for-£3 deal which is just the thing to line your stomach after a night on the tiles. If you're feeling exotic, they also allegedly serve Quail, Venison and Duck curry, which is just the thing for the more adventurous palette wishing to try some exotic delights on a pauper's budget.

Because smack dab in the middle of all the pandemonium lies Hunters. Think you're the only one with this equilibrium problem? Walk on in past midnight on Friday and Saturday night and look around. So many others inside to empathize with you! Oh wait, that girl's on the floor trying to Shazam her own singing into her iPhone. Ignore her. And what is everyone besides the girl on the floor feverishly noshing on? So hungry, everyone is! Look closer. Anything from fish n chips to burgers to pizza to curry. All in one place, run by a friendly, and from what I've seen, very, very patient staff with a quick and efficient way of moving the line right along. I've only been here to grab something to go late at night, so I've only witnessed Hunters full of people as lit up as the sky on New Years. Including a short fellow who was super appreciative upon receiving his pizza: "You don't understand. I thought you'd overlook me because I'm short and you'd give my pizza to someone else! And then I'd be standing here without a pizza. Thank you so, so, much. I am really happy right now." "We would never overlook any of our customers, sir. You are very welcome." How heartwarming was that interlude? Anyway, I've had a few items here - chicken kebabs with chips, and chicken biryani. Both were serviceable and the prices very reasonable, which is pretty much all you could ask for after midnight. That said, true to their name - they also serve something that differentiates them from most other ethnic late night joints: game curry. Partridge, pheasant, venison, quail, rabbit, and duck. All on offer. Now, I've had most of the game described above at one time or another in my life, but in a curry? Never even heard of the said lot being in a curry before. My mum's been holding out on me with the rabbit makhani all this time, apparently. I am definitely intrigued, though. Intrigued enough to wander in at 1am and try some quail korma? We shall see. 3 stars for now. PS. Girl on the floor is still mad her Shazam keeps returning "no match found." Don't have the heart to tell her she's not a singer.

I decided to order off Deliveroo, and while my food did seem a little expensive as these delivery companies seem to add a good fee onto the price of each product, it is one of the few places currently delivering food in the city centre so I thought I'd take a chance. I ordered a Cheeseburger in a bowl with lettuce, tomatoes and onions, the bowl it normally comes in is a small foil tray, luckily I had a Vapiano reusable takeout container with me as it was much sturdier and easier to eat from (They do need to work on their takeout packaging across ALL stores especially with takeout orders the norm now) I do think it was thrown together a little hastily, the two burger patties were stuck together by cheese, it did have some good flavours though although part of the burger did taste a little dry. I also ordered a small fries to go with it, I find the Five Guys fries to be huge portions anyway so a small is normally enough for me, I did find them to be slightly overcooked. I asked for mayo and ketchup to be included in the packet but they seemed to include sachets instead, I hate the sachets as it's so hard to get sauces out and when you do, there's only a tiny amount - I would have much preferred them to fill a small plastic pot, which they normally do in stores anyway. 3* - Overpriced for pretty average food which doesn't stand out from the crowd but still the best place to get a burger in Manchester city centre during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has shut down Honest Burgers, my usual favourite for a good-quality burger and McDonald's, my usual favourite if I want to grab something cheap and quick.
