Nothing brings the Christmas feel good more to me than children. Barnes & Noble is a great place…read moreyear round, but so much better during the holidays. We recently gathered for the school Book Fair and a Grinch story time. The bookstore was brimming with boys & girls and their families. It could have been chaos with the amount of people there, but it was quite the opposite. Children of all ages were enjoying time together with classic books and bestsellers too! I was surprised to see this is a two-story store with escalators as well as elevators on the southwest corner of the store. The coffee shop was filling orders, the staff was helpful and accommodating, and I left with a desire to go back soon to peruse through all the great merchandise, and then hide in a nook with a book somewhere in the store!

NO SITTING ON FLOOR…read more.. This Barnes & Noble in Oakland Park is well kept although it's unwritten policy (upon my request it was confirmed by the customer service staff) of "NO READING WHILE SITTING ON THE FLOOR" is weird and no explanation provided. The Cafe serves Starbuck's coffee and pastry offering several seats and tables. The upstairs has a large Barnes & Noble Jr section and a good selection of sports books with four seats randomly postioned against the railing without a table. So now I'm reading a book with a coffee in an uncomfortable chair. I guess the days of comfy reading areas are long gone. My lower back is now killing me so left after 30 minutes. At least they provide an escalator or an optional elevator for comfort.

It's one of our favorite little outings. The prices are pretty much the same as other Barnes & Noble locations, which is expected. They have a large children's section, which my boys loved. My youngest was immediately drawn to the little stage area he had the best time playing with the countless hand puppets. It's such a cute and creative space for younger kids to let their imaginations run wild. My oldest son is an avid reader, and he was thrilled to find special editions of some of his favorite books, like Wings of Fire. Seeing him get excited about reading made the visit even better. Even the bathrooms were fresh and clean, which is always a plus when you're out with kids. Overall, Barnes & Noble provided a wonderful experience for both of my boys. From the fun children's area to the great book selection and clean environment, it's definitely a place we'll continue visiting. Great service and the staff was attentive. The books were valued at a respectable price.

Barnes & Noble - I scored two nice calendars at $2 each. Paper Source brand too, not cheap.
