They NEVER have time to do make up sessions (because they are short in personnel) so when your kids get sick and don't come to class they will never schedule your make up session that you ALREADY paid for. The receptionists are not kind! (Watch out for Isabella)! They say "their policy states that make up sessions are every 6 weeks" so, if your kid gets sick or injured in a sport and can't make it to class, you better plan to just lose your money because they won't refund you, nor reschedule a class that you already paid. Maybe the people in Davie already knew how sketchy this academy is, because their academy closed over there, maybe for lack of students! If they did to them what they did to me, now I understand why no one would go there, he se having to close their business. We ended up loosing about $200 dollars in all but, save yourselves the headache of dealing with sketchy people and pay a little more to have your children in a more reputable music school! We have now a private teacher who comes to our house and we have seen an improvement in our kids music skills. Not like the 6 months we just wasted at this place. Unfortunately the schedule changed and we had to switch instructors. Second instructor was good but my daughter somehow didn't want to practice at home, a necessary deal with piano. We decided to switch back to Ms Liliam this time doing Voice, and was my daughter ecstatic! Not only is Ms. Liliam a talented instructor, but she is super patient, sweet and simply amazing with my daughter. My daughter looks forward to her lesson every Saturday. The staff are nice as well... polite and knowledgeable. Only drawback for me is the difficultly with the scheduling. Instructor slots book up really fast (clearly this school is going places and is in demand), so you may have to settle for a time that is not really the best for you. This is understandable though as most, if not all the instructors are part time. Many of them are furthering their music education at the same time. They have informed me that they are trying to open up more time slots so hopefully that will happen soon. But all in all, I'm quite happy with this school.

Many stores like SBME are going away due to box stores like Sam Ash and Guitar Center taking over, but luckily a few shops like this are still around. Here is something that would never happen in a large chain music store: I picked up a bass and started thumping, my friend said he played drums so Marty told him to get on the kit which was set up in the room. Next thing we know, Marty is grabbing a guitar and setting up a mic and we started jamming! It was so awesome, I loved it. We played 3 songs together. So fun! But I completely understood since the guitars are hanging on small hooks and could easily fall out of a customer's hands. The staff took me on a short tour of the acoustic guitars with brief guidance of their pricing, sound and quality. The guitar pricing ranged $400 to several thousand depending on the brand, appearance and structural integrity. Penny Lane offers lifetime warranties on select guitars and provide in-house repairs. Aside from musical string instrument sales they offer lessons from professional instructors but its not cheap. The one hour private lesson is $180.00 or a discounted four sessions of lessons for $550.00.
