I found the only crate of old records on the corner floor but none that were interesting. Candy, tobacco products, jewelry, magazines and even a quarter push gambling game could be found here. It could have been chaos with the amount of people there, but it was quite the opposite. Children of all ages were enjoying time together with classic books and bestsellers too! I was surprised to see this is a two-story store with escalators as well as elevators on the southwest corner of the store. The coffee shop was filling orders, the staff was helpful and accommodating, and I left with a desire to go back soon to peruse through all the great merchandise, and then hide in a nook with a book somewhere in the store!

This Barnes & Noble in Oakland Park is well kept although it's unwritten policy (upon my request it was confirmed by the customer service staff) of "NO READING WHILE SITTING ON THE FLOOR" is weird and no explanation provided. The Cafe serves Starbuck's coffee and pastry offering several seats and tables. The upstairs has a large Barnes & Noble Jr section and a good selection of sports books with four seats randomly postioned against the railing without a table. So now I'm reading a book with a coffee in an uncomfortable chair. I guess the days of comfy reading areas are long gone. My lower back is now killing me so left after 30 minutes. At least they provide an escalator or an optional elevator for comfort.

It's a humble location; it's in a quiet strip mall off Oakland Park blvd. Honestly, as we pulled in to the mostly empty parking lot I thought we had the wrong location. But as we entered I realized what few mall customers there were, were all in the shop. And what a nice space it was. Old school basic layout that I liked. Just boxes and boxes of vinyl to sift through. They were well organized, with punk, funk, and more all set in their areas. And the RSD specials were displayed above each of the areas they related to. It's not a huge store, but with the limited quantity it helped me find a couple things I liked. Glad to make the acquaintance of We Got the Beats, and hope to be back soon.

The owner/manager (I'm not sure of his exact role), Tony, was super nice and patient despite what I'm sure was a stressful event. I was super impressed by the organization and how smoothly everything went, when it could've very easily been chaotic with hundreds of crazed fans in attendance. Tony also did a great job of making sure that people didn't cut in line, when many did try, and took the time to talk to those of us who had been waiting in line for hours. He also answered tons of questions on social media that people had leading up to the event. I can't convey how impressed I am at how well they pulled off an event of this magnitude, and am beyond grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
