This is officially my favorite nail salon in Santa Monica. I have been here several times and was…read morewaiting to write a review if I could say they are consistent. They are. It is on flourishing and fun Montana Ave. A great stroll for boutiques and so many good restaurants. And Cha Spa! They do massages as well ... not as an after thought as most nail places do where they may do an extended leg or neck rub while your nails are drying. No, this is a serious massage place with a separate large room, curtained private spaces, spa music and good deep rubs. I had Bill. My friend loved Anna. And they have an outdoor area for nails and massages, as well during Covid, it seems. On a lazy Sunday I took full advantage with a friend to do both. Tip: do the massage 1st, so your fresh polish or gel is not ruined It's as clean & beautiful & serene as it looks on the pictures. I'm usually super picky about the hygiene of a spa and this place definitely meets the bar and goes above & beyond to ensure a nice ambiance. The decor is gold and white. Like the other locations but I like the hood! Technicians are great. I have tried a few and I adore Rose - high skills, the products they use are very high quality a wide selection of colors including the latest holiday specials, and they also carry my favorite Gel X polishes!!! Rose did my pedi and leg scrub -- what a goddess! Theresa did my manicure. She is so sweet and patient. A hot towel treatment is included in the manicure, as well as a gentle massage as you're waiting for the nails to dry -- taking that into account, the price is reasonable. Receptionist was nice & friendly. BTW, they have there own parking lot, but on weekends, it gets jammed. On 12th there is street parking. I thing 2 hours. Meters on Montana. Honestly, I hesitated to write this review because then everyone will find out about them and I won't be able to book an appointment as easily. LOL ... but this place is worth a shoutout. Got a gift card, so returned and tried full body massage. Big man-kept putting all his weight on my little back, elbows directly on my spine. I couldn't breathe. The whole massage was so painful. I don't know why I let it continue. I guess I was trying to be tough. I should've tapped out. For the remaining credit, I went back for nails. I showed her the gift card. She looked at it and she said I could pay the difference. Okay. The actual service went okay except for the minimal effort, and no results, on callous removal-an up-charge service. But then.... I hand her the gift card to pay and she hands it back to me and says sorry, that's only for massage. Says right on the card Massage, Nails etc. And I presented it prior to service. Unbelievable. Charges me full price and asks me to Venmo her directly. Hmm. I am not going back.

January 20, 2020…read more I have been consulting with Grace Bruno, Certified Massage Therapist for 5 years now. I sought out a specialist in lymphatic massage due to a long-standing unilateral edema stemming from a childhood injury. My left leg was re-injured in my 30's, necessitating a venogram evaluation that revealed damage to a venous valve in my left side. Regular weekly lymphatic massages were indicated, to prevent the development of chronic stasis with damage to the leg, and a risk of thrombophlebitis. As a doctor, I knew well that these things would need to be addressed. A previous course of lymphatic treatment needed to be re-instituted and I was fortunate to find Ms. Bruno. Grace is highly trained, and educated in massage techniques. She is skilled in Lymphatic Drainage, Craniosacral, Swedish, Shiatsu and Deep Tissue massage. The first two require highly sub-specialized training and can be difficult to find if you need that treatment. Grace is a practitioner who is technically skilled and intuitive. She has enormous kindness as well as integrity. She is a good choice for anyone who suffers from chronic back pain, any kind of arthritis, recovery from surgery and it's complications, and other conditions. All of these cause stress and are exacerbated by it. Her training and early practice involved an in-patient medical setting. Her experience with illness and recovery sets her apart from most massage therapists. Furthermore, as a person, she is indefatigable in her quest for knowledge and excited by pushing the boundaries of her competence, to understand as much as she can about each person she treats. I couldn't recommend Grace BRUNO more highly for all of these reasons, and have referred patients of mine to her with excellent results. M. But I went yesterday for a 90 minute massage ($93). Before I went, they called me to tell me that a $35 minimum tip was required. And that last time I only tipped $25. First of all, why are they recording our tip amount? Does the value of service depend on what we tipped previously? Secondly, a $35 minimum tip on a $93 massage is outrageous. Then when I was in the massage room, the sign states that $40 minimum tip is expected for a 90 minute massage. That's insane. That's almost 50%. For massages, a 20% tip is normal and 25% is for great service. Almost 50% is beyond ridiculous. There are no frills or extras here. So the majority of the cost should be going to the masseuse, right? So why are they asking, no, requiring so much for a tip?!! Also, as the customer, don't I get to choose how much I feel is earned based on the service each time?! I know cost of living has increased but then maybe their salaries need to increase. Not demand an outrageously high minimum tip. If this is how this business will continue to operate, I will not be returning. Which is unfortunate since I've loved this place for years.

However do note that it's cash only. While they do offer 60 minutes, 90 minutes is the sweet spot. For the location and services, it's a steal at $99 for 90 mins, with $33 recommended tip. This is a legit Thai spa, with staff who were trained in CMT in Thailand. The place is clean and the music is not intrusive. Lighting is dim and you can truly relax and feel like a new person after being rolfed. Despite a plethora of available modalities, the sweet spot is a Swedish-Thai combo. You get the best of both worlds, with the Thai introducing warming oils to the mix. Note: No shower facilities available, so if you are finicky, skip the oil. Although it's recommended. As soon as you enter, you fill in a questionnaire for any focus areas and any other instructions for your masseuse. Within 2 minutes you are let into your private massage and the masseuse works her magic. There's no clock watching and you get the entire time you booked. As the massage progresses and the modalities switch, you can feel the tension and knots disappear. It reminds me of Thailand level massages. There's limited conversation and you simply let your body relax and feel renewed. Tip: Medium firm is a sweet spot for massage intensity.
