For the last two years, my wife and her sister visited numerous facilities, determined to find a place where their mom would truly be happy. But time after time, something was missing. Their mom was understandably reluctant to move. She had deep emotional ties to her apartment--it's where she had lived with her late husband, and leaving it felt like leaving part of him behind. Then they discovered Tuscan Gardens. From the moment they walked in, everything felt different. The staff was warm and welcoming. The community was immaculate, bright, and full of charm, with cozy nooks and inviting spaces around every corner. They spoke with residents who genuinely loved living there--and it showed. Still, the biggest test was introducing the idea to their mom. They brought her to visit... and she lit up. She loved it! The decision was made, and she moved in shortly after. Now? She's thriving. She has a big smile on her face every day. She's surrounded by friendly, caring staff in a beautiful, healthy environment. For our family, it's been a huge relief. We finally have peace of mind knowing she's not just "getting by" but actually enjoying her days. That confidence and comfort are priceless. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Tuscan Gardens! It hasn't been…read moreupdated since the 1960s early 70s my mom was there for two weeks and I never got a call from the doctor and I had to go search out the social worker who was gone the first week on a cruise there was no case planning meeting so after two weeks, I decided to pull my mom out of there, the only positive thing I will say is the rehab workers Tony for physical therapy and Jenna for occupational therapy were fantastic! They were the only ones that kept me informed of how my mother was doing. It is now been a week and her equipment that the social worker said was going to arrive last Thursday has never gotten to her independent care. He doesn't return my phone calls, his name is Tony. Also I do not recommend this place and I would never send my mother there again.

We were shocked when the Affinity hospice nurse Tammy LIED to our family about the availability of a medication that could have saved my Dad's life. She said it was not available anywhere in Florida yet when I called Walgreens in Venice they had it in stock available that afternnon. She said they would not pay $500 for the medication. So she LIED to us to save Affinity money. THere were other lies as well about our rights to go off Hospice in order to get needed medical care. You can go on and off Hospice as needed to get humane care. They were a death machine nothing else When I asked Tammy to wear an N95 mask, she had the audacity to complain and ROLLED HER EYES at our home aid. I saw this in the mirror and our aid verified it. All while my Dad was dying. Since my father has passed we have heard NOTHING, no condolences. Nothing. No condolences from the nurses, the doctor or the Chaplain. This company is all about cash flow. Stay away and find a decent Hospice company if you want honesty and compassion. You will not find it with Affinity. Hospice is a very lucrative business and it shows with Affinity, it is apparent that they only care about getting your money. This is true for the company and from the president down. They are truly awful The worst. Stay away.

Affinity Home Care was a stark difference from my first experience with another Hospice care 3…read moreyears prior. Affinity was active and present in my mother's care. What they promised they would do from the initial interview, they did. Most importantly because of my mothers Alzheimer's, her core team remained the same throughout her care. The relationships that were built were genuine and filled with love and laughter. As we progressed through the stages of hospice care, approximately 5 months, the detail and depth of their medical knowledge and assessments were invaluable. Their honesty of what we were to expect is what brought so much comfort for what we needed to be able to face each day. Their dedication never wavered. Even my interactions over the phone with the office staff, on-call nurse or doctor, I was never left stressed because all of my questions and needs were met. This leads me to my final thought; they were just as interested in my "self-care" as moms primary caregiver. In fact, they insisted on it! They were there just as much for the family as they were the patient. So, was there a down-side or anything I was unhappy about? Only that when my mom passed, the revolving door of their friendships were dearly missed. I consider them life-long friends.

I feel compelled to share my family's distressing experience with Brookdale Phillippi Creek, where…read moremy sister was briefly placed after her move from Utah in May 2024. Unfortunately, this transition was marred by significant issues that compelled my nieces to seek alternative care for their mother within just a few days of her arrival.       Despite my niece's meticulous planning, and dedication over the past three years in managing their Mother's care, the initial experience at Brookdale Phillippi Creek was disheartening. The facility failed to meet the expectations set by its reputation, leading my nieces to move their mother back to her previous home, where she was welcomed with open arms. This decision was not made lightly, as they had worked diligently to ensure a smooth transition for their Mother to Brookdale Phillippi Creek.    The financial aspect of this ordeal has been equally troubling. The family paid an exorbitant $5,621.50 for a stay that lasted a few days, and I (their Aunt) have struggled for three months to retrieve the funds owed to them. As of now, Brookdale has only offered to refund $1,125.74, while the significant $2,500 community fee remains unreturned. It is bewildering that a billion-dollar company cannot facilitate a straightforward reimbursement process, particularly when the circumstances leading to my sister's departure was a direct result of the facility's shortcomings.   Despite numerous attempts to resolve this matter--42 emails and countless calls and texts to the executive director--the response has been frustrating. A promise of a follow-up call this past Friday from the Business Office Manager has gone unfulfilled, leaving me once again feeling ignored and disheartened.   Brookdale Phillippi Creek must take responsibility for its service failures and address the financial discrepancies promptly. My family is eager to resolve this matter by getting the credit resolved, and receiving a clear report showing a zero balance, free of any late fees.   In conclusion, my family will not consider returning to any Brookdale facility in the future. It is my hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale for others considering their services. Accountability and communication are crucial in elder care, and Brookdale Phillippi Creek has unfortunately fallen short on both fronts.     One side note: I personally want to acknowledge the efforts of Leslie A. who has been incredibly helpful throughout this process. I know that her hands are tied, but if she was able to help close things out she would have.  Thank you, Leslie!

The care was wonderful from most of the caregivers but one caregiver in particular, Renata was absolutely one of the most capable and caring caregivers I've ever come across in 40 years of healthcare. She anticipated my mom's needs before my mom even needed to say something. She fixed her home, cooked meals, and kept the house exceptionally clean. She was phenomenal at communicating with us for any needs that my mom might have. Renata is a tremendous asset to your company. She never sat in the other room reading books, never was on her phone, and responded to my mom even by conversing. She added companionship, compassion , and comfort to the end of my mom's life and we are incredibly grateful.
