As the daughter of a veteran who selflessly served our country, I was exited to be given a gift of…read morehome care through the veterans administration (HAHA Program) when his needs increased and caring for him became harder for me to do personally. He was given to Comforcare of Salem as a client. Day one was full of hope. Having never had dealings with in home care I felt like we must be in good hands. He was assessed and his needs added to a chores list (for lack of a better word) to the caregiver. Right away we had an amazing caregiver. She was there two times and we were given the excuse that she got another job. Indeed she did. Within the company. Next we got a young woman who was like able but not capable. This caregiver did not follow through on tasks, was constantly on her phone (texting, calling, surfing), she would fall asleep in my dads chair frequently, came multiple times with 1 1/2 inch long fingernails that were pointy and dangerous, was a no show multiple times, frequently talked my dad into eating food that was not a meal but snack foods instead which is less than ideal for a dialysis patient, and so much more. She even took the liberty of cutting his hair without having a clue as to what she was doing let alone asking if this was going to be acceptable. Today I write this review as I have for the fourth time been left without a caregiver for my dad. He will not get his shower but a bed bath which is all I am able to do. No visitor to brighten his day. No helper to supervise that rare walk. I don't get so much as a call to know there will be no one coming. I do get excuses from everyone as well as empty promises. I am frustrated and overwhelmed with this company that hires so many very young and obviously inexperienced people who have poor work ethic and very little productivity as well as staff that offer excuses instead of real solutions. I have called the veterans program and will be asking for another provider of care and certainly making it known as to why I am so displeased. Additionally, over the last several months I have either had no caregiver or had to orient someone new with each day we were actually provided with a caregiver, which completely negates any help in care that it should be providing. Essentially, I am left to do all the care while they get paid to watch and that is just not right. This company is not providing the standard of care. At least not for this US Air Force Veteran.

Please, as amazing as…read moretheir staff is (because they really are all amazing people with hearts of gold), choose a different agency that answers the phone 24/7! Also... edited: the one request we had on the very first day was for one specific medication and we had documentation for why it was necessary. They assured us it would be readily available, no problem. But when the time inevitably came? They unilaterally decided the cost was too much and gave us the specific medication we had said did not work at all. They didn't even bother to call and ask if we would be willing to pay for it out of pocket. We absolutely would have, it was $100 for my dad's last greatest fear of pain at the end. So they decided on their own that his comfort in passing was not worth $100. This should be criminal. And I know none of their actual caregivers would have chosen that decision in a million years. But please, for the sake of your loved ones, go with a different agency.

What is written on their website "The primary goal of both Home Health Care and In-home Care is to…read morehelp our clients stay at home for as long as possible while maintaining quality of life" is the opposite of what they are telling my parents who are currently clients. They keep telling my mom they are not to be used for maintenance. They can only be used for short term to make improvements. My dad has Parkinson's disease. The objective is to prevent a decline in his condition. I think that would be considered "maintaining quality of life". The doctor referred him for home health and they were matched with this company. Yet the man from the company told my parents they do not do maintenance, only improvement. It seems to say the opposite of what their website says. Perhaps they need to review their website and change their philosophy if their practices have changed. Overall the therapists who have come to the home have been fabulous it's just the battle of trying to get services to " maintain quality of life" that has been a horrible struggle.

We decided that she would need in home care so we had a call with Lezlie Snoozy-Kaitfors who required us to pay $1160 up front for a month of service. Literally the next day our mother had an episode and it was clear that she needed to go into a hospital setting for care. We contacted Leslie to have our money refunded because we never used their services and, after repeated calls and emails we NEVER heard from her or anyone at the company. We feel defrauded and cheated out of money that could have been used for our mother's ongoing care. Avoid this company/service at ALL COSTS!
