At first it sounded great, but this organization CAUSED way more stress than they alleviated - for the patient and family. They belittled her decision to want to die in a facility (preferably Branford inpatient hospice or a hospital) and kept insisting that she should want to be at home. Medication was left with no clear instructions about dosage and timing. Appointments were ignored and staff would "drop by" when they felt like it (often waking everyone in the household up after sleepless nights). When we tried to get her into a nursing home because they said she wasn't "ready" for in-patient hospice (unable to walk, not eating, yelling that she wanted to go to hospice and die) they directed us to file for chapter 19 at the Access Health... wasted HOURS and finally figured out the resource was somewhere totally different (I think it was the government site). Personnel in the home appeared to be looking at personal papers on tabletops. The home health aid was the only one who really helped, after weeks of having her not cleaned up. To be fair, one of the on-call nurses was very caring and helpful with late night medication questions. They often would not wear masks and some used the restroom and didn't even wash their hands! Family did not want them living in the home, so the only alternative from them was letting adult children figure out how to lift and move her from bed to bathroom to couch - always a painful experience, physically and mentally. Thankfully, she got her wish and was finally admitted to inpatient hospice (excellent care). All I can say is that there are other choices and would not recommend this agency. Oh, and one last thing: when she passed away there was not one single card or other acknowledgement of sympathy from them.

I've called 3 times ( m,t,w) asking to have the manager/owner to call me back to discuss this continuous problem and she hasn't had the courtesy to return my calls. You would think that a company like COMFORT KEEPERS can see the benefit of keeping current customers happy rather then soliciting for new business. I do not recommend COMFORT KEEPERS and I hope you will consider this review when looking for care for your loved ones. I gave them one star because I couldn't post this with a rating. My…read moreexperience as a visitor here has been far from satisfactory, and I would not recommend it to anyone seeking a supportive and nurturing environment for their loved ones. First and foremost, the treatment of patients leaves much to be desired by most of the staff. It is heartbreaking to witness residents being neglected and not receiving the attention or care they deserve. Room bells ringing, eventually someone enters turns off the bell light and continues on their way. Awful. Simply awful treatment. The staff appears to be too busy to attend to even the most basic needs of the patients, which is utterly unacceptable in a facility that is supposed to provide round-the-clock care. Oddly enough there is plenty of time to talk at the nurses station about personal appointments and watch TV all in the Library while patients are waiting for assistance. Time and again, I have heard the same excuse: "We are understaffed." While understaffing is a legitimate issue, it shouldn't be used as a justification for the lack of compassion and dedication required in such a critical field. Leadership should prioritize hiring and training more qualified empathetic staff to ensure that residents are receiving the highest standard of care being paid for. When a patient is at the end-of-life stage, it is very inappropriate to hear for an RN "We've all been through it" Well, that may be a correct statement but very inappropriate during an extremely difficult time. An RN takes the Nightingale Pledge " devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care". Care for the patients as if they were your loved ones. Patients should not be in a position of waiting an excessive amount of time especially if they are a fall risk. Remember patients are in need of care or they wouldn't be there, and the staff would not have jobs! Arrogance and unprofessionalism is what I would call the majority of the staff. Retraining and an overhaul are what is needed. While a private room might be nice, the quality of the rooms is awful. Holes in the walls, some patched unpainted walls, stained carpets, filthy bathrooms. The dietary selections leave much to be desired. I can't even image what the kitchen looks like. When a family is faced with needing a facility, this is one that should not be recommended. The facility is in dire need of improvement, both in terms of staffing and management practices. It is crucial for those in charge to address these issues promptly to create a more positive and caring environment. Until significant changes are made, I cannot in good conscience ever recommend this facility to anyone.

He can be a challenging guy (and whose Dad really isn't at times, right?), but the staff always seemed to do their best to help him with whatever he needed. No one even came to my room to greet me. I asked several times crying for my meds and was completely ignored until finally a nurse came in at 11:30. The room was dirty, the linens and bathroom were not changed and my bathroom wasn't cleaned once. After taking a medication that made me ill I threw up several times from my bed and the aid cleaned it up with towels and then left. The food was disgusting and barely edible. The other positive were the two amazing physical therapists. This place should be closed down.

My specific therapy relates to a longstanding chronic back pain issue and their staff's targeted plan has resulted in a significant improvement in my overall pain level.
