Upon arrival my husband was left in bed unattended and uncomfortable in a back brace after Sutter…read morerepaired his L4 Vert. He was there for rehab of his back. I spent 6 hours a day with him and nothing was done the first week. He wasn't moved, wheelchaired, taken to restroom or PT. Within a week he had compression ulcers (bed sores) on both heels. They put blue booties on him and left him. They did not perform any wound care or keep his heels off loaded. At 7 days in and discovery of the wounds, Management couldn't discharge him fast enough. Management was rude to me, wouldn't answer my questions and told me that a Case Manager RN with Kaiser was making all the decisions. That RN would not return my calls and lied when he said he did (I have the phone record). When my husband got out on the 20th day he had untreated compression ulcers that took Kaiser wound care to pop and 12 months to heal. I have kept him compression ulcer free the last 11 months. In short, I will never recommend Rock Creek to anyone mainly because of the poor care and managements rudeness. Ask for a different Kaiser RN Case Mgr if yours will not talk to you. Many times patients are not given many options because of bed space availability but what I've found is that compression ulcers are very preventable but are highly likely in most facilities. Most facilities will let them happen and that imposes unnecessary costs to our health care system. If you have a loved one who isn't not very mobile going into a SNF or any home, make sure they are sitting on presser ulcer preventing cushions, appropriate bed mattress or cover that prevents ulcers and heels are elevated off the mattress and they are re-positioned often during the day.

Most of the Nurses, CNAs, and therapists went above and beyond. They explained what was going to happen each day, as to therapy, linens, tests, medication ajustments, etc. My wife required assistance with the commode, and they were great in helping her. Linen changed when needed. Therapists there are top notch. Negatives: As with everything in life, there is room for improvement. Pine Hill is understaffed, and Nurses are responsible for 10 to 16 patients at a time. The Commode was not cleaned after each use. (Intermittently) The rooms in the facility were way too warm. Multiple complaints by many patients. (This was a 3 week stay in May.) My Wife has Lipidema and needed wound care, which she didn't get at all the first 3 days that she was there, and then it was minimal. She did see a wound Dr. once a week after that, and the wound care improved. Most rooms are double occupancy, and the facility needs to take more of an active role in controlling the TV volume at night when a patient is blasting their TV after 10pm. Makes it hard for the roommate to sleep. My wife is picky when it comes to food, and said that she wanted no milk, cereal, or Apple sauce. She got all 3 anyway. Eggs and toast were cold when delivered.

I'll start by saying my Mom is definitely a complicated patient, but if they don't have the means to properly take care of someone then say so. The Medicare 5/5 is a joke. My Mom was here twice and sent back to the hospital in terrible condition from neglect. Second time she went straight to the ICU and almost died. Place smells nice, once you get past the front door however- disgusting. My Mom got a UTI and then colonized because of staff unhygienic practices. Always dependent loops in my Mom's catheter every single time I came to visit. No wonder she kept getting UTIs. The food is terrible- I don't see how anyone can recover being forced to eat the slop they feed you. They never communicate like they say they will. They say they draw labs, but how are your lab values so different from the hospital? When questioned the DON makes it like it my Moms fault, not theirs. When I originally came to get her stuff there wasn't a nurse around to get me her personal medication. I made a special trip to come back and get them only to be told that they "discarded" them. PT staff rough with my Mom. Told her, "You want to go home and see your family? Get up" - DO BETTER

During my search, I have realized that most of the agencies have dealt with difficult situations from their own pasts, which seems to create a certain familiarity.. I know it will be challenging trying to find the right agency, and finding the right caregiver that will want to help us out on the weekends.. Erika was very helpful, but also very upfront that because of the shortage of workers, it may take some time to find someone. I am glad I called.

I have been impressed with their continued professionalism, and dedication to all their patients. During this difficult time, the staff has made my father feel at home. The activity director is always working hard making the dining experience warm, and inviting. I am grateful for the Director, he is readily available to help with questions throughout the day.
