T&D Willey Farms

I have been a customer of T&D Willey Farms for seven years. I had no idea it had been that long. I…read morelove this organic farm and its produce. Many of the boxes include produce from other organic growers. The produce is always fresh and will last a couple of weeks in the refrigerator, unlike produce you buy in the store that was actually picked weeks ago and kept in cold storage. The price has recently increased, the first time since 2008, as farming costs have increased and the Willeys pay their workers a living wage. My complaint has nothing to do with the Willeys but rather the drop off locations on the northwest side of down. In the 7 years I have had just about that many pick up spots. Just this week I was notified that Pavilion Shopping Center will no longer allow drop off at their center. Bah humbug, Pavilion.

We love the CSA. We love Whole Foods for organic fruits and veggies, but shopping there requires a…read moretrek and a whole lot of spending cash. This CSA has become a great alternative. We get fresh, organic fruits and veggies delivered to our neighborhood once a week. The CSA has turned Tuesdays into Christmas. As Forest Gump once said, "you never know what you're gonna get." The recipes they include in our box are really helpful and we've been introduced to some great new fruits and veggies. My husband swears by the apples. I love the carrots, ming choi, and the strawberries. They're also very helpful! I love this family!

After finding out about this farmstand and a little about the history of the owner a few years ago…read moreon social media, I've been wanting to stop by. I finally had a chance this summer on a day off to take the 40 minute drive and check it out. I was not disappointed. This is a small but year-round farm stand right off the side of the road with gravel space for cars to park. It is not greatly protected from the elements--and it was a hot hot day. I'm glad to see they at least had a few fans for the employees. The owner regularly works her stand, and when I was there, she offered to cut some fresh herbs or flowers for me while I perused the wonderful assortment of fruits, veggies and local honey. I ended up with some of the sweetest green grapes I've ever tried, a few different honeys to try (avocado and orange blossom), some freshly roasted peanuts, cucumbers, and an assortment of stone fruit. Everything was delicious, but the grapes were my favorite. Check out Sweet Girl Farms on Social media, or check out their website. They are active in the community, help to support other community growers (they even have eggs and other offerings), and enjoy a worthwhile visit to what should soon obtain the title of local treasure. I may not be able to stop by every week, but I hope to be a several times a year regular. This place is wonderful!

Liset is the best and has the perfect farm stand. I was on a quest for fresh fruits and veggies and…read moreSweet Girl Farms is truly a one stop shop. I scored some fresh eggs, apricots, cherries, jams, potatoes, onions, chicharrons and the most gorgeous flowers. She also turned me onto the Fresno Country Fruit Trail and I feel like I unlocked a whole other level to produce. I look forward to more visits.
