Pretty lantana out front
Lacey T.

From the highway this deceptively appears to be a cute lil' farm stand, but it is really more of a tourist trap (though not a particularly bad one). It's basically a large convenience store, that in addition to the expected snacks, treats and drinks, also carries dried fruit and nuts, olive oil, spices, ice cream, a few baked goods, and gift shop-y/souvenir type items. Out back we discovered a petting zoo along with shaded picnic tables, and plenty of restrooms. It looked like they might make deli sandwiches (though I'm not positive) so I could see it being a nice place to take a break from the road. When we entered we were greeted by several parrots, one of whom made it clear our excitement at meeting him was not mutual, and just screeched the entire time we were in the open section out front. I love animals, but it was painfully loud and unpleasant. Once we got inside it stopped, thankfully. I was seeking fresh, locally grown fruit, and while they did offer some produce, it just looked like average stuff from a grocery store. The dried fruit was more appealing, so I picked up some plums, and my travelling companions got trail mix, nuts, and a few other snacky snacks. They have some out to sample, and the selection of those products was extensive. We did not realize there was a petting zoo when we stopped, and though our group consisted of adults only, we ended up spending a good fifteen minutes hanging with the peacock, turkeys, goat, emus, llama, sheep, and various other animals. The employees were all friendly. Prices were a tad high, but not surprisingly so given the location and lack of other nearby options. I would not go out of my way to return here, but it was fun to check out once, and again, if traveling it is a nicer spot to take a break compared to a gas station or rest stop.

I just left here a few mins ago. Im new in town and glad i found this gem! This is the CUTEST little store/ bakery/ deli i've seen so far in merced. Lots of parrots in the front. Lots of seating and cool/ unique things to looks at. Sadly we came close to closing time so didn't get to experience all of what this place had to offer. I was able to buy some chocolate almost and a small maple syrup which im hoping is good.

i've past this place for decades..today i figure why not. it's very interesting, it has an outdoor sitting in the front and out back. there's birds and other livestock of sorts..beautiful fruit and deli..it also has an assortment of adult beverages wing with the usual soft drinks and other goodies. great family atmosphere and friendly staff.

Nice place but EXPENSIVE. Almost an imitation of Casa De Fruita. Not very impressed. I'd drive to Casa De Fruita for the same type of selections and cheaper price.

Cute little stop with great gifts like flavored honey, jams, yard art, chocolate covered fruits and nuts. Most refrigerated produce is $2.49/lb. Strawberries are already packaged and quite pricey. Deli with pasties and desserts. Recused birds and baby ducks were adorable.

An idea of the fruits they have available. And notice they have water sprays to clean your fruits on the spot!

I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but this experience truly deserves it. Every time…read morewe visit Calivirgin Winery in Lodi, we always hope Rachelle is there--and that alone says a lot. She has a way of making each visit feel special without trying too hard. She's welcoming, genuine, and incredibly knowledgeable, but never overwhelming. Instead, she creates a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer and come back again. What really sets her apart is her consistency. It's not just one great visit--every time we've been there, she's gone above and beyond with the same positive energy and attention to detail. Because of her, this winery has become our go-to spot. I even celebrated my 50th birthday here, and it was such a memorable experience. All of my guests couldn't stop talking about how amazing Rachelle was--everyone felt taken care of, comfortable, and truly impressed with the service. The winery itself is beautiful, accommodating, and perfect for gatherings, which made the celebration even better. On top of that, the entire team at Calivirgin is fantastic. Everyone we've interacted with has been friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming, which really adds to the overall experience. The wine is excellent, the setting is great, and the people are what truly make this place stand out for us. We'll absolutely keep coming back, and a big reason for that is Rachelle.

Last weekend on a trip to Sacramento, I finally had a chance to stop by their Olive Mill and Winery. There is a nice sparking clean outdoor patio with picnic tables within a few steps from the olive oil grove but it was a bit hot that day so we opted to sit inside. In addition to the olive oil tasting set, there were some brunch items such as a crostini and salad as well as a Mediterranean plate with hummus. We opted for the crostini, olive oil tasting and a cappuccino. The jalapeño olive oil was unique and flavorful enough that we bought a couple bottles of it to take home. The pear vinaigrette was thick and tangy. The waitresses were friendly and helpful when we had a couple questions about the dishes. The shelves in the shop area is full of flavored olive oils and vinaigrette as well as ceramic and a whole slew of items for serving charcuterie. If you are a fan of olive oil and are planning on a trip up to Sacramento or Lake Tahoe, would definitely recommend stopping by to check out Calivirgin.
