Yesterday my good friend was robbed in the Home Depot store. Her 2 wallets were removed from her purse with all her credit cards, ID, Sentri, passport!! There was a woman who distracted my friend and a man stole the items. This is the 3rd and recent occurrence in my small group of expat friends. All seniors. one other GF was robbed in the store. The other had her car broken into and her yorkie was stolen. The store management told my good friend that "this happens all the time". I am an expat, living here since 2006 and permante resident. This is appalling. The instore cameras are a complete joke. So you do have to wonder what is up and who is involved in the regular theft. And why this is not addressed. It is a disgrace. And going there is risky. I will never go there again and want other people to know this is a real risk. My friend filed a theft report with both the store and the municipal authorities. I loved this location for their convenience and service. We came here because we needed some appliances like a space heater and plunger for our Airbnb. It's really new and clean, and the prices aren't too bad. There are a lot of people at the cashier so the lines move pretty quickly. It's conveniently located in a really new and popular plaza in Rosarito. This plaza contains a lot of places for shopping and restaurants, and is all really clean and tourist friendly! Someone watches your car when you park to assure it doesn't get stolen or broken into, so be sure to tip him if you can. read more

I spend a lot of time at Home Depot and Lowes. So when I go out of my general area (SoCal), I just have to check them out in a different setting. This is the third or fourth time that I've been here. The workers are extremely friendly and go way out of their way to help customers. This is a big plus - wish the stores in the LA & SD areas were as good in this regard. (Though Lake Elsinore customer service is pretty good - should write a review...) But the real great benefit of shopping here is that you can buy stuff that is not available in the US. My latest discovery is gas cans that don't comply with EPA regulations! So here's the scoop: In California, you cannot buy a gas can unless it has a special "restricted" nozzle. As a result, the lowest priced 5-gallon gas can is around $20. The dirty little secret is that these cans are horrible! Read the reviews! I have one that I use to refill the tank on a pontoon boat that I keep in the water on Canyon Lake. It is impossible to fill the tank with the EPA mandated contraption without spilling a significant amount of gas - often into the water! And I am not the only one. So a couple of weeks ago I picked up a 20 liter can (approximately 5 gallons). Simple spout and air release valve - very easy to use and very little hazard of spilling. And the best part? I was helping a friend furnish her apartment, so we headed for Home Depot and was I surprised! It is much larger than any I have seen before, it was well stocked, had some very good buys - and a terrific salesperson named Alicia who tied all our purchases together and arranged for delivery.
