So I came to this coffee shop for my lunch and hoping to bring something sweet back home. It wasn't…read moremy first visit, and I wasn't really amazed last time I visited. But there are never enough gluten-free places and this coffee shop always has amazing reviews! So I gave it another go. And again... It just doesn't cut it for me. There are only 2 or 3 gluten-free lunches assigned on the menu. So, from the start I kinda had to order the jacket potato with bacon and brie since salad is not my thing and all day breakfast seemed too heavy. Mind me, I live bacon and brie. I'm not a big a fan of potato. So I basically ate the bacon. And brie. They were good. But can you really fail that? The salad that accompanied the food was also good. There was only one slice of gluten free cake. Cappuccino cake. It looked sad from outside and not at all promising. Which reminds me that the staff were okayish. No one really bothered with me at all. I say this because while I was at lunch I heard someone actually explaining customers a few of the things on the menu, while I simply got a few nudges to the gluten-free sign and to the only available slice of cake. I reckon the best part of my visit were the toilets. The toilets were pristine clean and just look nice, although small. In summary, this coffee shop might be good for anyone with a normal diet, but if you suffer from intolerance or allergy to gluten, at least be prepared to not have much choice. There are better places out there!

We got off the bus near the Cathedral and had planned to wander round the shops and then stop off somewhere for lunch, and then do the Cathedral. Well, we saw this cute little place and our plans changed. The window display was inviting and there was a spare table outside, so we decided to start our trip with a cupcake. They had a wide selection and it was hard to choose. In the end , I had a Maltesers one and my mum went for lemon curd. To accompany the cake, I had green tea and mum had English breakfast. The tea was loose leaf and was very nice. Some green teas can be a bit bitter but this one was very good. The cupcakes were really nice. We noticed a sign in the window for cupcake decorating classes - a great thing for kids and adults alike. I think this may only be a year old. It seems popular and hope it continues to do well.

As you can imagine, busy but so wonderful, overlooking Portsmouth harbor as the sunset over our shoulders. Started with the calamari appetizer. Crispy, hot and tasty - exactly what we needed to whet our appetites and paired nicely with our drinks. (They have a very good wine list and imported Peroni and a local beer, plus their cocktails and mocktails.) My Seafood Vongole was delicious. The garlic, lemon and caper/parsley butter sauce was great and kissed the shrimp and clams so perfectly. It filled me up, but not so much that I couldn't order a Tiramisu! With a little grated chocolate, it was the perfect capstone to a lovely meal. Our host in Portsmouth recommended Zizzi for the food, but the atmosphere and service was excellent and well worth the five star rating!
