Both are in their 90's and, as you can imagine, moves like these aren't easy. After many years of preparing for the day they would require assisted living, I chose The Kensington. I did a few years' worth of research and ultimately it was very clear to me that The Kensington has no real competition. Moving in couldn't have been easier and the staff went out of their way to be incredibly helpful. Once in, the real test was whether The Kensington was all it had been hyped up to be. This is where I get a little choked up. Robert May's staff at The Kensington might be the finest group of people I have ever met. In the few months that my mother and father have lived there, I've met dozens of staffers and every one of them are filled with an energy that is equal parts love, compassion, hardworking, and authenticity. It's very clear that the training provided to the Kensington staff is top shelf and you find it in everything they do. I would love to share the names of the individuals who have had such a positive impact on my parents' happiness, but there are too many to mention here. The Kensington has roughly 120 residents with a staff of more than 180. That should tell you a lot about the attention the residents receive from the staff. In my opinion, the staff is everything. In addition to those who provide the day to day caretaking of the Kensington residents, there are staff nurses who do blood work, x-rays, and administer meds. Additionally, optometry and podiatry services are included, with insurance and/or Medicare often covering the cost. There is a beauty salon for hair and nails, a movie room with a new film each day, a TV/Library gathering room with large screen TV and incredibly well-curated live entertainment at 4:00 p.m. each day before dinner. The grounds at the Kensington are more than well-manicured and nicely appointed. The entire compound is spotless and there is always someone attending to something to keep it that way. The art on the wall celebrates The South Bay and the garden area is equal parts Huntington Library and Beverly Hills Hotel. When you mention The Kensington to people who are familiar with the home, you get a positive response every time. When discussing assisted living, the cost is commonly brought up as an obstacle. I did the math, I crunched the numbers and I read the reviews. I spoke to many people whose parents have transitioned to other local assisted living homes and I took copious notes. In the end, I found The Kensington to be very fairly priced, especially for what is provided. In all fairness, it is probably less expensive in consideration of all of the amenities. I can't help but mention again how fantastic the Kensington staff is. When you entrust the care of your elderly parents to someone else, it creates a lot of anxiety and second guessing. Realistically, who would treat your parents as well as you think they deserve to be treated. I can attest that The Kensington treats my parents like gold and the positive impact this has had on my parents and me is overwhelming. I would like to thank Robert May for putting together a team that has created such a wonderful place for my parents to live and call their "home". If you love your parents, give them the gift of The Kensington.

And the people are so attentive and kind that I'm assuming the care is excellent. Tiffany was kind enough to give us two full tours, and the second time sent me off with a sweet bottle of wine. In appearance and ambience, it compares to a five star hotel, which provides live music, art classes and a small library, to boot! If it does ever happen that one of us needs extended care, this place would be our top choice.

There are 4 floors and are arranged by residents' needs and cognitive level. My mom seems very content to be amongst her peers, chit chatting, doing activities, going on outings and dining together. I'm so grateful for Silverado and all the staff. It has turned out to be the perfect place for my mom. She is safe, engaged, fits right in amongst her peers and has the support of staff who understand what she is going through. The agreement, scope, and pricing were clearly discussed and approved in advance. Unfortunately, before final payment was completed, the Director who hired me was let go. Since then, new management has refused to honor the original agreement in full. Despite providing documentation, proof of approval, and fulfillment of the work exactly as requested, I was only partially paid and am still owed $1,400. It's disappointing to complete a high-level, time-intensive project in good faith--especially for a major event--and then have a company refuse to take responsibility for the commitments made by their own leadership. This isn't just about payment--it's about integrity. Vendors should be able to trust that businesses will honor their agreements, regardless of internal staffing changes. I would strongly caution other artists and vendors to ensure full payment upfront before working with this organization.

She busted her butt to get movers the next day, elevated care taking that night, and even arranged for my mom to stay in a guest suite while we worked on moving her stuff. Every time she sees me or my dad she stops what she is doing and makes it a point to say hello and see how we are doing. They have a daily calendar with activities from morning until night. Last week I asked my dad if he wanted to grab lunch after running some errands. He said he wanted to get back so he could eat with his friends! Remember, we lost my mom 68 days ago. This has been a game changer. My life is completely different. I still visit almost every day. When I do go he's always busy. I'm going to try to remember as many names as possible so when you go to check it out you can ask for them. The first person I met was Ingrid. Sometimes the cleaning staff does unwittingly throw away esoteric, specialty food given by friends & relatives to my resident relative since the staff is not sure of its shelf lIfe, but the complaint by my relative's earlier claims of missing personal items possibly by staff members now seem to be unsubstantiated. Overall, Spring presently is a desirable assisted living home. The residents are from middle class backgrounds so there is an air of civility and dignity. The facilities are clean with a comfortable "living room" for residents to gather for directed activities & occasional entertainment. My past review and others' reviews were not as complimentary, but under Linda Hiles and the amenable staff, I feel Spring would be good to look into for an assisted living situation. Their take on memory care not so much .They will not even come to assess if the dementia is Lewy body, vascular , frontotemporal (FTD) or TBI. There may be more selective diagnosis they do not accept. Not sure but my guess is fear of violent behavior , regardless of past or present history and not enough staff/capability . Not based on science. So extremely selective in what patients are allowed . Did not see that on their website.
