What a saga! Long story short. We hired them to install our dishwasher. The guy did not attach the drainpipe and did not fully attach the incoming water either. He told me it was all good to go, he had tested it, and left. When we turned on the machine water started spilling out of the cupboard and onto the kitchen floor!!! If we had left it our entire kitchen and living room would have flooded... I can't even tell you how upset we were. I called the company the next day to complain and they didn't even apologize and were painfully slow to respond to me. I gave them 4 days to either send someone to fix/ check the installation (because who knows what else the guy just didn't do!!) or refund my money so I can get someone else in there. THEN five days later, the water slowly trickled down from the incoming water line (which at that point we didn't know was leaking) and leaked through the ceiling onto our basement floor. It wrecked the dry wall. We called them to complain and ask for our money back again. No apology. They just argued with my husband. Then they said they would give us our money back. What a Nightmare! This was a simple 10 minute dryer repair requiring a very common $20 part that any Professional already has in their toolbox. My dryer was WORKING when this started, the guy took it apart before even bringing in the parts, then when it was the wrong part, left my dryer in 7 pieces not working. I made repeated appointments to come back but he wouldn't show up, I called again & again & again only to hear the same old story, he's always "on the way". Every time I've called the office, it's vm then a call back from the same tech so there's not even anyone to complain to! I was quoted over $400 for a $90 repair by this Con Artist! Here's the details of how I've been repeatedly lied to & jerked around by this Company: Saturday: My dryer worked fine but was making a screeching noise off & on so I called, described the problem, scheduled an appointment for the next day. Sunday: Tech arrived, listened to the dryer for a few seconds, told me it was the Drum Rollers, all 4 have to be replaced, they're only sold in sets & price for the parts would be about $165, plus $180 labor. Seemed like a lot but I just wanted it fixed so he said he'd obtain the parts & come back the next day at 4:30. Monday: Tech comes in, took apart the dryer then went out to the truck for the parts, came back in telling me the correct part # is on the box but it's a part for a fridge, so he said he'd obtain the correct part & come back at 4:30 the next day. He left my dryer in pieces, said the Idler Pulley "was in backwards", little did I realize at the time, he took the pulley with him, my working dryer is now non-functional with a part missing, but it's just for "one day", so I thought fine. Tuesday: I arrived home at 4:30, called him right away to let him know I was there, he said he'd be here in an hour. I understand things happen especially in the service industry, so I patiently waited, didn't call him back until almost 7, he told me he was on his way & would be there in 20 - 30 minutes. I called again an hour later & he was still "on the way" so I waited, and waited, and waited. When I was getting tired & ready to turn in for the night, I called again, got vm then an instant text back saying "I'll call you back", of course, no call. Wednesday: Halloween, the one day of the week I didn't have free to wait by the door for a no-show repairman. Thursday: Laundry is starting to pile up. I'd spoken to the tech who assured me that he'd be at my door at 4 pm. I waited from 4 then called about 4:45, he's on the 401 in Mississauga, traffic is bad but he's "on the way". I understand traffic in the GTA is terrible, delays can be expected so I patiently waited till after 7 to call back, at that point he was at the 401/DVP & once again, "on the way", I live about 10 minutes from there. So I waited, and waited, and waited......finally when I called again around 8:45, got vm then an instant text back saying "I'll call you back", of course, again, no call. It's amazing that this company is still in business after the way they blatantly lie, lie, lie to their Customers. If they're running late or can't make it that time or day, it's only common courtesy to call & let the customer know instead of repeatedly making promises they know they can't keep & wasting people's time. To do otherwise is sheer incompetence. Friday: So frustrated & fed up, at this point, I had no more confidence in this lying tech or his Company & wouldn't let them through my door if they did show up, have to get some laundry done so I called a guy recommended by a few neighbors. He seemed very knowledgeable with no BS, said the drum rollers for my dryer are a common part, cost $21, just one can be replaced, easy cheap repair, already has a some in his van and a few of the Idler Pulleys. His earliest appointment was 5 - 7 Saturday so I took it. No contact from the other guy despite making sure he had my home & cell numbers. Saturday: George from GTA Toronto Appliance Repair came over, right in the middle of a 2 hour time window. Checked the drum rollers, says they're all OK, he replaced the idler pulley, put the machine back together in less than 25 minutes & most of that was fitting back on all the panels the other guy removed, as changing the idler pulley only requires taking off the bottom panel. George changed me only $90, parts & labor, a pleasant end to this nightmare. They advertise as "Toronto's Best Appliance Service; Guaranteed!", "Highly Professional", "Top Rated for 10+Years", "Genuinely Caring" when not a word of it is true! I really wonder how many, if any of the 5 star reviews are legit. I found the guy I dealt with to be grossly incompetent, compulsive liar with no accountability whatsoever, trying to charge over $400+ for a job that costs $90 is fraud! The image of their "Head Office" says it all, this Company is fishy as fishy can be! If you want to get jerked around, repeatedly lied to & pay way too much, this is a good place to go! read more

TRUST NO ONE. That's the mind set i have when it comes to repair men .. But damn. I called Home Appliance Repair after a quick yelp search, and a couple positive reviews. Yelp didn't fail me! My freezer/fridge stopped being cold. I'm no technician, but I knew something was wrong. Very very wrong. I know NOTHING about appliances so I was in complete panic mode when I called and someone picked up at 4pm, and this late in the day. He told me he had a couple other appointments, but he'd be able to come by in 3-4 hours. Without fail, he called, and was here within 4hrs. Same day! Whoohoo! NOTE: I had called a whirlpool 'approved' tech and was told Tuesday was the soonest they could send someone over. When Mat arrived, he was quick and efficient at figuring out it was a simple fix, of my fan being stuck. He showed me the magnet on the fan that got caught, and quickly nudged it out, then put the back of my freezer back together. While I had him here, and trusted him, I had him have a quick look at my dishwasher that I thought I had 'broken' about a year ago when the top shelf rotator thingee got jammed and I 'fixed' it by basically breaking it. He quickly pulled out his little tool box, and found a metal screw that exactly fit the plastic piece that broken off, and TADA! The top of my dish washer rack now has water rotation! I paid cash, $70, and 2 (first world) life altering fixes! NOTE: $70 was cheaper than the service call quotes (which averaged at $90) I was getting earlier in the day from other companies. Even bigger bonus? Matt, from Home Appliance Services LOVED my Dobermans! The guy is a dog lover. :) I would recommend this guy without a doubt. I am writing this review due to the unprofessionalism and disrespectful behavior displayed by this business owner. He was hired by the sellers of the property that I just bought, to fix a wine fridge. His initial repair was not successful. He agreed to come back again to try to fix the issue. He attempted to repair it again, and unfortunately was not successful. He then stated he will come to pick up the fridge and bring it to his shop in order to determine what is causing the issue. When he picked up the wine fridge to put it in his van, he permanently scratched and dented it on both sides. I told him to stop, as he was intending to continue forcing it into his van. He then told me that I "shouldn't care" and that "nobody will see it," and that "he will just paint over it." I informed him you cannot paint over dents, and that there is now permanent damage to the fridge. This occurred two weeks ago. He has since provided no update. I spoke with him today and he informed me again that I "shouldn't care" if it is scratched/dented. He also informed me that he refuses to resolve the issue (the fridge is still not working). Initially, he had informed the seller (who hired him) that he has a 1-year warranty on his repairs. If you read the other reviews, it appears that this person has a pattern of damaging other people's property and thereafter dismissing their concerns. As a result, I will be hiring a litigation lawyer to resolve this concern. It is not a matter of money - it is a matter of principle. I cannot stand by and watch an individual abuse other people's property and thereafter pretend that it is not an issue/refuse to find a solution to the problem. I'm not one to write reviews, but I thought I should share this experience. Home appliance repair sent a guy over to come to fix my dishwasher to the tune of $460. A week later, it breaks again. I called them up to explain, and they said they would send a guy out Tuesday. Tuesday night rolls around, and the guy never comes. He calls me at 9 to ask if he could come Wednesday, i said sure. Wednesday rolls around, and the guy doesn't come again. I called them up, and he said he wasn't scheduled and to call the manager. So I called the manager and he said he'd call back, to which he never did. Thursday afternoon rolls around, and i try calling again. No answer and the voicemail was full. The manager texts me at 5:30 to tell me the guy is coming at 7, Simply put, if you have disgustingly low expectations for customer service, then they're a perfect fit. read more

UPDATE: Since my last review, Matt made an effort to right the wrong. He made an appointment to come on a Sunday at 11am. He called me to let me know that he would be an hour late since he was stuck at another job. Fine. By 1pm, I had given up waiting and called Matt to cancel, I was obviously frustrated. He was apologetic, and explained that sometimes jobs go longer than anticipated. He offered a full refund for the dishwasher part which was processed the next day, a pleasant surprise. Called in with a leaking GE fridge. He told me he can come in and fix it with a standard minimum visit cost but practically it is a pretty easy fix. Called over the weekend, explained the problem, gave out details, including out address and was told an engineer would be with us on Monday between 2 -3. 4pm I called them to be told, they were finishing a job and then would be on the route. 4.15, they called me back to say that as​ they are based downtown, they do not normally service Markham, although their web page says differently !!!!!! they told me they would come out today for $ 85.00 call out charge and a further $55.00 for travel costs ????? No Show. I called the service a few minutes after 9 am and was informed a repair person (Matt) would arrive between 5-6pm that same day to take a look at my faulty fridge. I waited until 30 minutes after 6 pm to call about the status of my appointment. My first call rang once and was redirected to voicemail. I tried a second time assuming it was a mistake but that call rang twice before being redirected to voicemail once again. I would strongly advise finding a different repair service as this was a waste of a day. read more

I was at first impressed by all the great reviews until I called for a service call and after the first visit, I contantly got the run around. I always had to call and find out the status of the part that was ordered to repair my washer. I never once got an apology for not calling me back or not showing up. Finally after 2 weeks of calling, I was told that the part arrived. After installing the part, I was told that it did not work either and that it would be almost impossible to get this part from anyone else. I called another service company who immediately came and assesed what was initially done by Home Appliance Services. They permanantly damaged my machine and now I have to purchase a new one. I get a call on Thursday asking if I'm home - I tell them that we scheduled it for Sunday and the person tells me - yes, we did, sorry. Sunday comes around and noone comes. I had Home Appliance Services come to my apartment to look at a washing machine that was not draining. First, the serviceman was an hour late and then he quoted me $290 for a new part, in addition to $150 for labour. We called Whirpool to find out how much the part cost - only$208 plus tax! So I called Home Appliance Services to discuss this $80 difference and they have ignored my calls. I picked this company based on Yelp reviews but I would never recommend them in a million years. I called home appliance, but no one answered. The I didn't leave a message, but 5 minutes later, Matthew called me back. I told him my washer was not draining. I had done everything the manual said to try to fix it, but it's was still not draining. Matthew asked me if I had check the drainage plug in the front of the machine. This was not mentioned in the manual, so I had not done that. I did what Matthew suggested and found a string wrapped around the drainage mechanism. Now, the washer drains fine. I called Matthew back to thank him. He saved me $1000( I was just going to buy a new washer), or $200 (service fee) at a minimum. Thank you Matthew. I needed help with my stove, and called Home Appliances Services based on reviews I read here. We made an appointment for a service call for 1:00 pm. By 2:30, no one had showed up, so I called to enquire. The guy who answered said the previous repair was taking longer than expected, and he'd be right there. An hour later, still no one. So I called again, and said I had to leave so we rescheduled for Monday at 9:00 am. By 10:30, no one had shown up, so I called. The guy said he'd call back in 5 minutes. Never received that call. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!!! First of all, i'm not sure why yelp refuses to show all the ratings, did not know there was a "not recommended (aka, hidden) reviews" section. If I would have seen some of these reviews, I never would have gone with this company. I'm a 25 year old guy, young, easy-going, nothing really gets on my nerve, have never ever written a writing on yelp nor google or anything for that matter. I'm the kinda guy that would pick out the hair in my food and continue eating without saying anything. Home appliances services, Aka, Matt WAS TERRIBLE. Probably the worst service/scam I have ever experienced in my life. I can only imagine all those decent reviews (4, 5 stars) are FAKE! When I first saw the review, I called Matt up to get my Blomberg fridge looked at, it had a problem and it wouldn't get cold. I booked an appointment with Matt on a sunday at 1pm. As a young professional, I have things to do and hate wasting time, even on weekends. So i called Matt around 12pm and reminded him of the appoinment and asked him to be on time. 3 hours later, Matt was still not at my house, I called him and he ignored my calls several times and finally picked up to say that he is "caught" up at another job and that he is late. K, that's fine, things happen and you get caught up, THEN CALL ME!!!!! AND LET ME KNOW! Finally, Matt shows up at 5pm, looks at my fridge and says he needs to order some parts to fix them. He asked me to pay 75 dollars which i gladly did for the initial diagnostic service. And he said that it would take about a week for the parts to arrive and that he would give me a call. 3 weeks pass by and I give him a call, and again, another excuse "things got delayed. blah blah blah". And we decide to make an appointment for a Monday at 9am in the morning. I cancel my work and other plans for the day and decide to wait for Matt. 9am comes around on monday, and again, no sign of this guy, 10 am comes around, i call him 6 times and no response, finally picks up the phone around 11am, and he is completely clueless about the appointment and says he was "caught up" again somewhere and says he'll be here at 2. 2pm rolls around and no signs of matt. Call him again, no response. call him again at 3pm and he replies, i'm busy, call me back later. 4pm rolls around, i call him, no reponse. 5 pm, another call, ignored, texted, ignored Overall, this has been the worst experience of my ENTIRE LIFE. How could someone be so irresponsible, unprofessional. All i got, after paying this guy 75 dollars, was 2 days of my life wasted waiting for him. Seeing all the great reviews on Home Appliance Service, my husband and I decided to call these guys in to fix our washer, which suddenly stopped at the rinse cycle. True to the reviews, my service guy Matt was kind and courteous, diagnosing the problem (which was a timer part replacement) then fixing it. Although I don't know how much these things regularly cost, I felt that if $500 made my problem go away as quickly as it looked like it was going away, it was worth it. My second experience with them wasn't as glowing. After using the washer once, the problem reappeared. I called and Matt said he'd be by in the afternoon and that if I ended up being busy, he'd see me in the morning because his morning was wide open. I never heard from him in the afternoon and called him around 6 to make sure then, that he would be by the next day. He said he'd be here between 9 and 11. I called at 10:30 to see if he was coming. He said he was on his way but would be a half hour. One hour later I was told he had to fix someone else's washer that was leaking everywhere and that he would be another half hr or however long it would take on the Gardiner. He quickly apologized. He arrived late still, and I didn't get an apology in person. He was nice, and was friendly to my son and dog, but I just felt that my whole day was wasted waiting around for a repair guy. There was poor communication and I felt like I was hounding him down to finish a job. The problem ended up being that when he closed the machine during the first visit a wire had gotten loose and so he had to put that back together. He was in and out in 15 minutes, which was nice but I just wish there was more communication on his end and less waiting around. I had to reschedule a number of errands and appts. UPDATE: Matt called me to apologize, which was nice of him to do. He told me he had read my review and asked if there was anything he could do to make me happier with the service. Since the work is done I can only hope he's taken my concerns to heart. read more

We called this place based on the positive yelp reviews. Person arrived right at the end of the planned window, we thought he was going to be late. Our front load washer wouldn't drain. We tried everything based on youtube videos and it seemed the pump wasn't working right. Within 5 minutes he diagnosed the issue (yes it was the pump) and said first he should clean it out. He used a vacuum to clean it and said it should work. 15 mins max from beginning to end for $225. Honestly I feel completely ripped off. We were told if it has a problem in the next week or so then he would order a new pump for about $175. Installation would be free due to this first visit. Why would we be charged for future labour that may not be necessary? I recommend finding someplace else for your appliance repairs. read more

I called Matt to repair our wall oven. He showed up late due to traffic which was reasonable. i was amazed by his troubleshoot and repair skills. He opened up our oven and told me where the problem is right away and cost $180 + tax for him to repair with 1 year warranty. which i thought is a good deal, he went to his car to repair the broken oven panel and back within 15 minutes and we were all excited to see it working again. There are 4 stoves on my oven 3 were confirmed working after the panel repair, and we are happy. The big front right wasn't working before this panel issue so i asked his professional advise on how much to get that fixed. He did a quick diagnostic by re-wire / bypass using another working stove and confirmed another $300 for repair it. it cost too much and we are happy for 3 working stoves. By the time Matt going to leave and put everything back. I told him i want to check one more time to make sure the 3 stoves are still working. i noticed one of the small one wasn't working right away but thought could be just taking time to heat up since i was rushed by Matt's leaving i didn't think it would be big deal. after Matt left around 5 minutes after we confirmed the small front stove on the left wasn't working at all and now we are down to 2 working stoves, so i called Matt right away to setup an appointment for him to check again. he didn't come back right away, and after several phone calls he told me the switch might be broken. if he missed the connection then he will do it under warranty. but if it's an actual hardware failure i will have to pay for service charge even though i have told him we don't want to spent more money to fix this oven. i thought as part of service he should have come back to make sure his service was done properly instead of leaving us hanging. i am willing to pay for the cost - gas money if it's indeed new hardware issue. but i am not willing to pay for another service charge while this happened right during his service. also a word of advise for Matt, you should try to avoid taking DVP during rush hour while not necessary i am also working in service field, if i am not 100% sure if i have done something to cause other issue i will check under warranty within reasonable period of time. normally i would say few days to a week. by the fact that we have notified him right away, i don't think it's fair for him to charge service fee again for something could have caused by him. my 2 cents read more

I called and was informed of a reasonable rate of $65/hr. Should I require parts, the initial $65 would be refunded and the cost would be combined. The repairman came. He spent less than an hour here and charged me $220 plus tax! I was SHOCKED! how could this be.. He started to recount some reason why that for MY type of job... a very simple damper adjustment - it was now a flat rate of $220 .. barely here an hour. THEN as he was leaving I said I was not satisfied and that I would be writing this episode on the website, and never using this company again ..he said,.. well you know Toronto, downtown is more expensive than North York!... So all in all I guess it was just a disgusting CASH GRAB taking advantage of people in need. read more

BEWARE - OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE !! I called Home Appliance Service and got a quote for a service call to repair my Whirlpool washer. Matt and his brother were courteous and arrived as scheduled. They started to dismantle the unit and found the problem was a broken lid switch. The next quote was $160 for service (took 30 mins total) and $180 for a new lid switch. The total amounted to a quarter of the price of a new machine! Afterwards I checked online and the cost for a new lid switch was less than $30! I called their management to complain and there has been no return calls from the owner. I've tried a number of times to reach them. In addition, after taking my credit card # they promised to email an invoice with a 3 month warranty on the part. It has been almost a week and still no invoice has arrived. I have contacted them on this issue many times. Just beware of the very expensive charges. read more

Matthew is a class act. After being jerked around by the first repair guy I called, Matthew came in and saved the day. He came in and provided me with different options to take to fix my refrigerator. He made a recommendation on the best approach to take, I approved it and he fixed it .... Plan and simple! He did not give me the run around, he did not jerk me around, he was honest, respectful and professional. He even called me a few days after to check up on how things were going with the fridge. Not only will I use him again in the future, but I would not hesitate to recommend him to any of my friends or family members who are in need of a honest repair guy who knows his stuff. read more

I was 110% satisfied with the repairman, Matt. He came and fixed the laundry washer which failed to drain water, because of unbalanced load and the drum banged on the chassis and broke the wiring that provide drive voltage to the drain pump. I initially called the company Appliance Repair Guys, who sent me a repair guy that charged me $280 for diagnostic work, but failed to identify the problem, instead he asked for $765 more and saying that I need a new timer module. I paid him $280 and sent him away. The Appliance Repair Guys is a crooked company; The Home Appliance Services is an excellent, reliable and thrustworthy company. read more

Stay Away! Horrible experience. Horrible service. Our washer handle was a little bit loose so we wanted to have a pro come and tighten it up. It still worked fine the handle was just a bit finnicky. I was told it would be 35 for them to check it out, and possibly more if they needed more parts. When they came to check out the handle, they broke it clean off, broke the plastic holding everything together. They told me it was cost $450-$500 to replace that part! Which at this point I had no other option as they had broken it. They left after charging me over $60 for their 'wonderful' service. I was pleased that Home Appliance was able to send someone out the very same day I called. My dryer had totally died a slow and painful death and I was expecting the worst. Matt knew exactly what the problem was and had the offending part swapped out and my dryer humming in record time and costing half what I expected the repair to cost! This company was hired to replace my stove top and it was a terrible experience. I would not RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!!! The technician showed up hours late, spent the entire time on his phone taking calls from other customers and put a huge scratch in my hardwood floor, which he tried to cover up by pulling a rug over the scratch. When I confronted him with this, we agreed that the company would cover the cost of the repair to the flooring. After the repair to the hardwood floor was completed, and I called the company to arrange payment, they denied any knowledge of the agreement and refused to uphold our agreement. Brutal customer service in shop. I have used Unionville Appliance Repair service for over 20 years. Their repair people who have come to my home are responsible, respectful and reasonable. When I brought my microwave in to have a latch repaired they made me PRE PAY $67 and then the next day told me it could not be repaired. I asked for a refund or a discount on my next repair they refused and were hostile both on the phone and in person. I expect more from a business I have been using for over 20 years. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Matt came to repair my broken microwave in mid-August. The door wasn't closing properly causing the machine to shut down after 3 seconds. He was happy to come to collect the $75.00 visit fee. He came for 5 minutes and just jiggled the latch on the microwave. My husband and I were concerned that this would not fix the problem but Matt assured us that it would continue working with no problem. The microwave worked fine until one month later-the problem showed up again. When I called Matt to come to look at it again he wanted to charge us the $75.00 again! I argued that this was completely unfair since he had done nothing to fix the machine except jiggle the latch. He argued that he had to charge $75.00 again because he had to pay for his gas to come to my home to look at it again, I explained that he wouldn't have to do that if he fixed it properly in the first place. He said he didn't want to replace the latch on the door because he was trying to save me money. HOW IS PAYING THE $75.00 SERVICE FEE TWICE SAVING ME MONEY???? He finally agreed to knock down the price to $35.00 service fee. We agreed on an appointment time and date. I texted him to remind him of our appointment but he never showed up! Do yourself a favor and avoid this guy, he just wanted to come for 5 mins and collect the $75.00 from me. read more

Do NOT trust appliance repair guys!!! They did not show up on the date they scheduled with me. Then they charged me a $90 cancellation fee and threatened to go to collections if I did not mail them my credit card number and authorize to charge it. This company is a complete joke and has illegal collection policies. I recommend you do not use their services by any means necessary. read more

I'm always leery of service technicians, but when my tenant's washing machine crapped out and I couldn't figure out the problem, I had to find someone to fix it. I called T.A.R. and they took care of everything for me - even called my tenant directly and arranged a time that was convenient. They fixed it in the evening, right on the spot and I was able to pay over the phone after the job was done. Satisfied, I had them repair my dishwasher at home. They made the effort to track down a scarce part for an outdated model and worked with my busy schedule to get the part installed at a time that was convenient. They were true to their quote without any surprises when it came time to pay up. Communication is great, and as far as prices go, I wouldn't say "cheap", but given the speed and quality of service and the fact that they quote you up front and honour their word, I would say that it is reasonable. They accept credit cards on the spot, swiped into an iPhone. read more

I got my washing machine fixed by Matt by taking out socks which got stuck in the drainage pipe and charged me 250$. Not sure if this is worth, the price he charged as there was no machine part damaged which he replaced. Looks like this was too over priced. read more

Unfortunately Matt does not always appear to be the "Great Service" guy the yelp reviews tak about. He conversed back and forth with me about my problem on text & me sending pics and description its - he said it would be an easy fix but and promised to set up a time but after multiple attempts he dropped me. Wish he would have just said he was too busy or did not like my location ...whatever he wasted both or time with the back and forth. read more
