On our way south we decided to take a little detour to a place that supposedly serves the best BBQ in the country..
It's a charming place in a ramshackle sort of way in the middle of nowhere (no offense). We came here around 1300 on a Sunday with somewhat bad weather and the place was quite packed so we had to stand up and eat as there were no available seats, but that didn't matter much. I can only imagine what this place is like on a Saturday evening with good weather..
Ok, so we each ordered different things. We had two plates and one sandwich. The plates start at 60 sek with some sides (no baked beans?!) and then you add your BBQ'd meat to the plate. I chose the Short rib while mum had the Iberico rib (each 170 (!) SEK in total) and my old man had the pulled pork sandwich for 95 sek.
First off: Best Cole slaw I've ever had, no doubt about that. The ribs we had were served dry and there were bottles of 5-6 different sauces in bottles on the tables.
I tasted perhaps three of them and I liked the sauce (sarcastically?) named 'Sweet Carolina' because it was anything but sweet with a very vinegary flavour which I liked.
Now, the Short rib was quite a disappointment, but only when compared to the Iberico ribs which were excellent and very well stands on their own dry without any sauce.
The Iberico ribs definitely was the most value compared to the Short rib though, in my opinion, but if you're looking for the most food for the least amount of SEK of the three dishes we had, go for the Pulled Pork Sandwich.
All-in-all a great experience, both atmospherically and culinarily, but perhaps not economically and WHERE are the baked beans?!. I mean, it's not Memphis but for Sweden this is a solid 5 stars. read more
