As a born Swede with close ties to Hoganas it is fair to say I am partial, but when it comes to food that claims to be authentic, fresh, and local I tend to be really picky. Since I also am very familiar with Swedish local cuisine I tend to take that a step further. Having that said, this restaurant delivers on all points. The menu is simple, easy to understand, and delivers seasonal options. Some things are always in season along the Swedish coast, so those items tend to be staples. One such thing is the shrimp sandwich, which I ordered. Many restaurants offer this as an appetizer but Bryggan offers it as a main meal, as do the competitor next door (yes, I tried both). The sandwich is enormous and should deliver enough to make anyone full for the rest of the day. In terms of taste it is superb, the shrimp are hand peeled in door (it matters when you put it in your mouth), the mayo is homemade, and the rest of the ingredients are from local suppliers. Service is a little presumptuous with it's house sommelier and fancy silverware. Buying alcohol out at a restaurant in Sweden I've always found as somewhat of a waste as Systembolaget (the liquor stores) offers the same taste notes and the same goods for cheaper. Having that said, this place is all about the food - and the view. However, can you help getting the wine, too? Yes, view - it's stunning! Overlooking the waters between Sweden and Denmark with it's busy shipping traffic, leisure boat activity, and the most beautiful sunsets it really can't get better than this. Restaurants offering local seafood that are also located next to the sea hits a special soft spot in my heart. This place offers dining at it's best and should be appreciated for all it has to offer.
