The headstone we ordered came in
Tiffany S.

We have 4 generations of family buried here. Over the last 5 years we have been finding more family. Last year we discovered my hubby's great grandmother didn't have a headstone. The office was SO helpful. We made an appointment and came in and ordered a beautiful headstone. I believe we got great value. Everyone from the maintenance to the ladies answering the phones are helpful and nice. As we were looking for Rose (who didn't have a headstone at the time) a man working there in his suit stopped and helped us- and went to retrieve a plot map from the office for us too! The grounds are well kept and they respect offerings left at the graves. We always enjoy visiting our family here.

Months after all the wind and rainstorms yet this large fallen tree is still here. Completely covers some of the headstones. Other trees have been removed but this one is still here...why??? Absolutely awful especially on Mother's Day. May 19: Thanks Sylvia for your feedback. I left a voicemail message on the day of my posting and had not received a returned phone call. I called today and spoke with Adriana (sp?) at 2:30pm, she mentioned she'll be forwarding my inquiry to the groundskeeper. All of the other trees were removed except this one last one which is covering other people's resting places. Would be nice to see this removed in time for Father's Day. May 31: Large fallen tree has been removed. Thanks to everyone that worked on this clean up!

Update in response to business owner's commentary: Foster City uses a variety of Canadian Geese population management strategies that you might try to mitigate the feces biohazard issues you face. Also, US Fish & Wildlife grants a permit allowing the culling of migratory birds including endangered and threatened species. Foster City was granted such a permit but opted for non-lethal methods. My husband's parents are both buried at this cemetery. It's one of quite a few final resting facilities in the City of Colma. I was part of the planning for my mother-in-law's funeral / burial services over ten years ago. I don't recall a lot of the details of the process, but it seemed to go smoothly enough as she already owned the plot next to her husband. The actual ceremony at the grave site was handled with appropriate reverence and care, as I remember. The location of the graves is easy to find near the top of the hill. There's a garden section nearby where it looks like produce is grown, which is always a bit of a surprise to see when in a cemetery. The grass is well kept, as befits a section where only flush to the ground headstones are allowed. That makes for easier landscaping / mowing. A water spigot isn't too far away, which makes it convenient to fill up a cup or bottle to water cut flowers. Every time we go, I see something new in the overall property. There are mosaic murals depicting scenes from the lift of Jesus in other parts of the grounds, which are quite striking. One downside is the presence of various migrating birds, as well as local ones that like to stay put. They tend to leave a mess, which requires watching where you're stepping. Must be lots of extra fertilizer for the landscape!

Now, don't think i'm crazy, but a cemetery is an intesteing place to visit. For me, not only did I get to find all my long lost relatives, but getting to see icons was gratifying. Especially Joe D's grave !!

It's amazing to me that in a cemetery w/many ostentatious mausoleums, that WWII hero & Yankee legend Joe DiMaggio has such a humble grave.

As we wound our way to my cousin's final resting place, I noticed that the grounds were well kept.

Before the change of management in 2022 after my mother passed, I called and spoke with them. They helped me understand the process and what to expect and confirmed that my mother could be in interred with my father. They called it a right of internment and assured me, there would be no problem. I contacted them again and learned about the takeover by Cypress Lawn. I was assigned a different person some young man who told me my mother could not be buried with her husband, as was her last wish. I can tell you that it seems profits are number one, the chairman of board and the Board of Directors won't even do anything to help you. The chairman of the board wrote me a letter made assurances and then never followed through my mother remains unburied. She was a well respected Doelger Senior Center volunteer and state of California public service retiree. My father was a decorated war hero and this situation is just shameful.

Adjacent to our room has an outdoor space , I believe where one can burn incense for Buddhist ceremony. Disappointed that we were not able to have food for our guests , due to COVID regulations . Both staff I encountered were diligent in helping our family arranged tables so we can placed incense/ flowers and food offerings.

Not normally a place that I review…read more I've been here before but only for the burial of a friend's parent. On my recent visit here, my friends were putting their parent to rest on a recent Sunday morning, a norm these days, given our ages now. It is not a large place like other mortuaries in the area but we were able to fit a little over a hundred in their service room. As you enter, there is a reception area where a table was set up with snacks and a drink and coffee station to the side. The staff was pretty low key as these type of events become more of a reunion besides remembering the departed. The program started on time and went smoothly, with a slideshow with moving clips along with background music ran on a loop. After the eulogies were read and guests paid homage to the departed and her family, we were led outside. The gravesite was a pretty good hike from the building as our entourage followed the hearse. The staff who guided the hosts through the service were friendly, patient, and appreciative of guests who helped. The only criticism is that the graveyard crew seemed a bit disorganized as the shovel loader was not in position to make the burial process smooth. Overall, for a smaller mortuary, they make the program pretty seamless.

Grateful is an understatement for the immaculate work the Golden Hill Memorial team did in supporting us through our loss. They were on top of all the details and guided us through the Chinese customs for honoring my father-in-law. Sue, Polly, Christina, Wilson, and Steven were so on top of everything. From the beautiful clean, modern venue, to the welcome treats and drinks for our guests. They really know how to run a tight ship. Each team member was personable and professional, as they consistently checked in on our family. All our guests were impressed with their hospitality and wide selection of post funeral ceremony offerings as we waited for the burial ceremony. I have never experienced such an elevated experience at a funeral, and it really surprised our family. Golden Hill Memorial goes above and beyond, and we are grateful for their care.

This location is MUCH better than the one in San Francisco because it really does not give that creepy and scary cemetery vibe and walking to your loved ones plot/ grave marker is much easier to walk to since it is pretty much flat lands (at the other place, people are buried on steep hills and its pretty dangerous to walk on the dirt to get up to your loved one, especially if they are higher up the hill. This is especially difficult for elderly to make their way up as well). Also wanted to mention that this location is a lot smaller than the other one. The grass looked like it needed to be mowed, it wasn't really crazy long, but just needed to be trimmed. There are several trash cans around which is nice to be able to throw out the plastic wrapping that the flowers you would buy at a florist comes in. I thought it was kind of odd that the sprinklers when we were there between 2:30 pm- 3:30 pm. What if people wanted to come and visit their loved ones? Will they just have to sit in the car and visit that way in order to prevent from getting wet? I think they should either have their sprinklers on early in the morning or later in the evening so that it does not interrupt anyone's visit to this cemetery. And also so that when people arrive, their shoes will not get all dirty and muddy. Anyways, this place is an easy miss, as we had missed the main entrance the 1st and 2nd time we have been here (my grandfather was buried here last year). Just drive slow on Hillside so that you don't miss the main entrance (although you could park on the street, but make sure you read the signs for the time restrictions) or you'll just have to make a U-turn and come on back. Overall, this cemetery is definitely a lot better than their other location and thought the place was a nice place.
