Holy Cow! Once was more than enough!
Just tried out this new place (just opened three days ago) in the Sublevel of the Lucerne Main Station.
McD and BK are also located very close in the train station area, so I assumed they must be quite confident and quite good to put up a competition for the two big chains.
Boy, was I wrong. I'm usually not harsh when it comes to reviews. So when I give one star it really means something. I'm not a guy who gets angry quick....but serving me bad food hits me in the weak spot!
I travel the world, I eat .... lots .... lots of meat ... lots of Burgers. And for the quick reader: This place is not worth your money!
They advertise with "local products, freshly made, changing the market, 160g patties....and good food". Yep, they use local products alright. They are being made before your eyes. These points are true. But they won't change the market with these Burgers. I expected a real good Burger (like in "Gott's Roadside Napa Valley", "Seven Burgers" in Oahu or like "Five Napkin Burger NYC" or the Rossini Burger at "Les Halles NYC"). I love Burgers, I love them freshly made in some Mom&Pop place or some small (but good) chains.
But the thing I got served (Bacon Cheese) was such a sorry piece of meat. The pattie was small....very small. 160gr? Before grilling maybe....all that was left was maybe 100gr.
And it was fully cooked through. Dry....no juices, no flavours. Hey, it's been dead already....you didn't have to kill it again! Bacon was soft and watery.
A single piece of lettuce....lumpy. A few drops of (very very sweet) BBQ Sauce. And they forgot the onions. The buns were dried out. Comes at 18.90 as a menu (with fries and a drink - no coke, Sprite or Fanta is being served. Apple or other juices...or water). I'm fine to pay about 20 bucks for a menu....but for that I can eat a Burger at Les Halles on Park Ave in NYC. I know, this is Switzerland....but even though I live here i think it's a rip-off, a rip-off for its size and quality.
My wife wasn't hungry, so she had the Junior Cheese Burger for 9 CHF. It definitely was Junior sized. My god, I had meatballs bigger than this patty! A disgrace! Really like two bites of meat in very thin, very small patty with two drops of ketchup and the usual single piece of lettuce. Fries were edible....nothing more.
I'm not a sucker for chains....but I like a Burger from McD or BK sometimes. And they are way way better than the stuff that is being sold here. If I wanna eat healty etc. I'm not chosing a Burger. When I want a Burger I want it big, juicy, fatty and yummy!
Because of the good location it will attract customers. And - knowing Swiss people - the locals will probably run to this place (to NOT support the big bad american chains). And probably all the organic-loving green Hipsters will gather here. If everybody comes to their senses eventually this place will close someday soon.
If you want a good Burger in Lucerne I guess you need to keep going to the chains. This was the first time here....and absolutely definitely the last. And: Service was strict and not friendly. read more
