Did you know Holties has breakfast? Me either! This morning we went to Holties in Barnhart & had a great breakfast! Nothing too fancy, but still delicious! The breakfast menu has about everything you'd look for on a menu, from omelets to burritos to Belgian waffles. Our waiter was great, he was working the bar area & also being the bartender & still serving great service to us! I was surprised to see I hadn't reviewed Holtie's before! We come here frequently. Holtie's has THE BEST wings anywhere, ever for a reasonable price! Typically we get a large batch of wings (24) and salads. The salads are very nicely put together and I love that they include bell pepper on them :) The ranch is also VERY GOOD - if you love ranch you know this is a must have with wings. I've ordered a few other items here as well and have enjoyed them all - chili mac, open faced roast beef, onion rings, crab rangoon. The service is always friendly. When they are packed (which is often) service can be a bit slower. They do have a bar side and a restaurant side - I've eaten on both sides and enjoyed it. Last time I ordered a Chicken Caesars Salad before today they did not put mushrooms on it which is clearly listed in the items description. This time I ordered the Chicken Caesar's Salad not only did I not get the chicken I did not get croutons on the salad either the size of the salad was half of what it use to . For $9.99 I expected a little more as I think anyone would, screw me once shame on me screw me twice shame on you there will not be a third time . Holties gets four stars for the wings. This Missouri bar feels both divey and country. Holties is a comfortable bar where you can grab a drink and eat belly filling soul food. We always get the wings which are rich with flavor and just the right texture of crispy and tender. The sauces that go with it make them taste better than other competitors, making it worth the trek. I even liked the other appetizers they had like the potato skins and fried mushrooms. While some items are definitely made in house like the chicken wings, others seemed prepackaged. Indeed, our waiter admitted the soups weren't homemade. Service was definitely slow. I don't think they have enough staff to cover the demands of their tables. I think things that would have helped this place out would be cutting down on the number of items on the menu and more really getting good quality in house items. If you cut the wings, I would have given this place three stars. read more

We won't be back to Holtie's... Let me start by saying that my family has always had a decent experience at Holtie's and we enjoy their food. But last night was a completely different experience. Between three of us, we ordered 36 wings, Buffalo chicken dip, chicken parm sliders, and fries. We only received two little cups of dip for all of the wings, and no celery (menu states celery is included). When we asked about celery, the waitress (who was very friendly) stated that they were out of some things but she'd check and see if they had any. She came back and said that they were out, which was kind of a bummer. After a few minutes, she came over with a little bit on a plate and said the cook had been messing with her and they actually did have some. We asked her if we could have a little more than 5 pieces, since we had 36 wings. We saw her go up to ask the cook (who was playing on his phone where the food is prepared) and he tossed some on a plate with his bare hand and said "tell them to have a lovely f****ing evening." All three of us, including our 14 year old daughter, heard it loud and clear. I informed our waitress that we all heard it and she immediately apologized and said that she would go get her manager. The manager was very apologetic and said that this was not the first time that particular cook had said that, but that the customers don't ever hear it. Well.... We did. I must say that the manager and the waitress were very friendly and apologized profusely. They offered a free dessert, which we declined. The manager did state that the owner has been told about the cook's temper and foul language but they won't do anything because it's hard to find help. Because of the cook's lack of respect towards the customers, his co-workers, and his employer, we will not be returning to Holtie's. Time to find a new wing place. read more

Wings are good, but not impressed by anything else. Smoked Turkey sandwich came out with a soaked bottom bun and lunch meat. Took 2 hrs to get food due to "fryer side being 1 hr behind." Turkey came out an hour before the rest of our food. Mac and cheese is of the powered box variety. Another couple disliked their food as well and didn't eat any of it. First and last time we spend $$ there. Waitress was very nice so hopefully she finds are better spot to work at. read more

Been eating here for over 20 years but since the new owners have taken over the quality of the food has dropped dramatically. Used to love the fried chicken but last time I ordered it is was raw in the middle and burned on the outside. Had carryout tonight and the burgers have almost shrunk by half and were almost raw as well as missing the garnishes. Caesar salad was missing almost all of its ingredients no bacon or croutons same for the Caesar wrap. Sad to see a special place go to the dogs. read more

Passed by here many times but today was our first experience eating here. Breakfast was good, so I give 4 stars for that. The service was severely lacking, they are obviously short staffed, as many restaurants are. I won't hold that against them this time. It was really crowded, so we had to wait for a table for about 10 minutes. There were 3 other parties waiting as well. Someone at least acknowledging that all of us were standing there would have been nice. Once we were seated, the waitress immediately asked us for our order. I said I wanted to look at the menu, which was a big mistake. It took her almost 30 minutes to return, which was a bit ridiculous. Once we ordered, didn't take long to get the food, which as I mentioned, was very good. We will definitely try it again. If the service is bad again, we won't go back. P.S. when we arrived there were 2 individuals sitting at separate tables. One lady had finished her breakfast and was reading a book, by herself, at a table for four. A gentleman was enjoying his after breakfast coffee, by himself, at a table for four. Both of these individuals were still there when we left. In a place this busy with clearly people waiting for tables, this was just beyond rude. Since both of these people kept asking for coffee refills, that probably didn't help the efficiency of the wait staff. read more

Since i wrote the original review i have come back here a few times and believe it or not, this place has really grown on me in terms of the service and the food. I am still a fan of the roast beef sandwhiches and the large pretzels but i also am a fan of their wings. I've been coming to this restaurant since the early 90's and have always enjoyed it until the evening of 9/29/21. I was joined by 3 other family members and one of them had never eaten there before & we were super excited to have dinner at Holtes together. We all placed our order at the same time and we're enjoying visiting together. After about 15 minutes, the waitress brought 3 of the 4 meals to our table. I was never told that my meal was still being prepared. Everyone was staring, so I told them to go ahead and eat while their food was hot. Well, another 20 minutes passed and by this time, my family had finished their meals and I was still sitting there wondering what happened to my grilled chicken sandwich .... Keep in mind that the actual waitress who took our order NEVER once returned to our table. One of the older waitress's looked at me across the dining room and said "it's coming" and still, another 15 minutes go by and no food ! I started getting a bit aggravated and my cousin called attention to the older waitress and asked what's wrong... she said "it's coming" and finally about 2 minutes later she brought the food out to me and literally slammed the plate down on the table in front of me and said "there ya go" ! Now, by this time, I was pretty much "over it" and had lost my appetite. So she stood over me and said "well do you want it or not" ? I told her I wasn't hungry anymore and she proceeded to snatch up the plate (aggressively, that some of the fries flew off the plate) and said "FINE" and walked away. Never in the entire time did she or the other waitress who was our initial waitress ever communicate to us that there was a problem with our order. There was no reason for a grilled chicken sandwich and an order of fries to take almost an HOUR to cook. Needless to say, we talked to the owner of the restaurant after we left and the owner took our name & address and told us that she would send a gift certificate to try to make things right ..... it's been almost 3 weeks and I've yet to receive that gift certificate in the mail. I won't be going back to this place anymore. And I'm sad because they treated us like we did something wrong. All I wanted was my sandwich and they never apologized for the screw up. read more

Have been going to this place for a couple of years now and have made a lot of friends. The breakfasts are great. The Awesome Omelet is good but awesome if you substitute jalapeños. The sausage gravy is sometime missing the sausage but they will fix it if you say something. For lunch you can't beat the wings and the Holy Guacamole burger is also good. They often run out of items (like Bud Light Draft) so get used to being disappointed from time to time. The service at the bar is good but spotty in the dining area. Also, this is an all smoking establishment so if the smoke bothers you, go somewhere else because apparently they don't care. read more

I was in a party of 10 that came in for dinner. We had a wide variety of food and everyone commented on how good it was. I had a Blue Cheese burger that was cooked to the proper degree of doneness. The person across from me had the Chili Mac. It was HUGE and he really liked it. Overall it was a really good experience. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars was it took quite a while to to get our food after the order. I know it takes a little longer for a large party but this was close to 25 minutes. read more

I think it's finally time to part ways with this establishment. We have tried to come in several times being only met with SLOW staff (enough to actually leave because no one had come and taken our order after sitting for 15 minutes), as well as walking in and choking on smoke because their fans in the back have been broken and having to leave because we couldn't breath!. We have tried to call in orders to do carry out and have only been talked to like we were an inconvenience to them, spoken too very rudely and practically being hung up on because we could even get all of our order taken. Food is good. The first time we went, I ordered a Ribeye cooked medium rare. It was well cooked. My husband ordered the club sandwich, he was pleased with it. Their salad dressing is delicious. Service was so-so. The second time we went with 2 friends. Once again the food was good. I had the stuffed sole...delicious. However, our server was very rude...my husband asked for more sweet tea, she rolled her eyes at him! My husband went Friday morning on his way home from work. He ordered Steak and eggs. There were only 4 tables with patrons. Once again the service was horrible. She brought the steak and hash browns and said she would bring the eggs out shortly. (He ordered poached). He finished the hash browns, and half of the steak. The servers were standing at the window talking to each other. He had to go ask the server about his eggs. He noticed there was a bowl sitting in the window which he was sure was his eggs. She sarcastically said, they are not finished yet. She then picked up the bowl and brought them to him. By this time they were cold. We experienced the same "attitude" from 3 different servers each time we patronized the restaurant. I hope the owner sees this review and talks to his servers about their attitude when taking care of customers.
