Shakespeare's Garden - Fall collection

Shakespeare's Garden

well ive been thru horrendous childbirth, pancreatitis,& 3 hip replacements. nothing left me…read morebending over & wretching like their portapotties. even tho it's an hours drive, took my 2 friends to see this place which i have grown to love and they were sick of hearing me talk about it. Shakespeare once penned "to thine own self be true." i would pen this as "keep thine own manure to thyself." have been going here for years BECAUSE ITS UNUSUAL.BECAUSE ITS HIGH END. yet nature called this time. when i asked about a restroom they pointed me to the back where the porta potties are. the first one i opened was simply a predessor of what was to come. the other two left me w an impossible choice. i was trying not to dry heave entering the chosen one which was a slim comparison of the lesser of the other 2 evils. by the time i got to the front entrance where the car was parked i was bent over the car holding onto dear life with persistant vomiting onto the gravel. i felt so pretty. my friends would not go to lunch as planned as their description of my dryheaving in the car & my green face did not lend itself to eating. to not describe these portolets is not spareing you dear reader, but myself from the visuals that would prompt unyielding dryheaving every. single. time. that i think about this.my problem with this: i have a pretty strong stomach. my dad in the medical field would come home for dinner & while we were eating could easily talk about such subjects as pus. im no stranger when it comes to intestinal fortitude. these portolets were otherwordly disgusting, which to me were a complete insult to their customers who are spending small fortunes. i have never left there spending less than $300.00. and I'm on a pretty tight budget but I plan & save to come here. and most of their customers did not fall off the turnip truck or are backwoods farmers looking for something "purdy." show some respect to your customers. you want me to spend $250. 00 on some little garden ornament then clean up your act. make sure you use a real bathroom before coming here. "to thine own manure be true."

Earth Tones - Our native plant haul

Earth Tones

This nursery is a native gardener's paradise!! They have a large selection of trees, shrubs,…read moreperennials, herbs, and more! The nursery spans over a large area and is very well organized with signs for each section. They also have maps available to help. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable on native plants. The plants in the sections are all labeled and include their height, sun + water needs, and their scientific names. We went to get some plants for our new woodland planting area and were pleasantly surprised to see an entire section dedicated to woodland/shade plants. I recommend visiting a little later in the planting seasons since their plants are a bit small in spring (due to them growing it themselves each year. Prices are reasonable and you can really tell the employees put love into growing them. We've gotten plants from them for a few years and the majority of them have grown to their full heights. 100% worth the hour drive for us. Would recommend this nursery to all and I plan on going back next year :)

I am disappointed. I am angry…read more This place is magical, it is very inspiring. A gift to wander through. Beautifully and thoughtfully laid out. Incredibly expensive for the size of plant you get - the minimums for the plugs pretty outrageous and impossible unless your spending thousands of dollars, literally. Yes, they have a plethora of plants that are not sold elsewhere as well as an enormous amount of plants, priced exorbitantly, that are sold everywhere. I started planting my garden this year and spent a hefty sum at Earth Tones two months ago in early May. I hugely hugely regret it. Currently my garden is a collection of plants purchased at three nurseries with Earth Tones being one of the three. Almost every single plant purchased at earth tones is covered with powdery mildew. Three Valeriana officinalis, each planted across a 40 foot expanse - covered in mildew - plants next to them from another nursery - nothing as of now. It started on the two Antennaria plantaginifolia plants, which errupted in a frothy mildew as soon as they started to grow. This mildew is now showing on all the plants I purchased from Earth Tones. I am really upset. This morning, I threw away 70$ worth of plants. I fear I will have to throw away more since it is starting to spread across my garden. The sedges I bought? Dying and so unhappy. The purple love grass. Full of weeds and barely growing. The the plants came with So. Many. Weeds, both visible and invisible seedlings, it is beyond frustrating. It feels super careless, especially at the incredible price point they are selling their plants. Not a single plant from the other nurseries are showing this mildew or struggling, but the plants from ET - it started showing a couple of weeks after they went into the ground. I spent over $500 at Earth Tones and I will never spend another dime. I am hoping I can save the rest of my garden from being infected. My other plants are thriving, my other grasses are exploding with joy. Please be careful when purchasing from them. I do not recommend this nursery or their quality.
