My wife and I recently visited Disneyland Paris. We had been walking the majority of our stay in Paris so you can imagine our surprise that there was a hotel right in the middle of the Park property. I tried to look up the hotel on my phone so I could call and make a reservation, but apparently the hotel did not have a website I could find. That was strike one.
Upon getting to the hotel we saw a sign that it was only a 5 minute wait to check in. In all fairness, the sign was in French. I assumed it said 5 minutes to check in, but in retrospect, it must had been about something else. After waiting in a line (or queue) we finally made it inside the hotel. I gotta be honest. The place could use some serious cleaning up. It was dusty with cob webs everywhere and the decor was super outdated. The hotel's lobby had old furniture lying around and you couldn't even get to it. Most of the lobby was roped off. I tried to find someone who could take my bags, but the hotel staff was almost no where to be seen. No one greeted us once we got in and no one was behind the desk checking reservations. Instead, I was ushered into this room and forced to watch a small TV screen (in the dark) about a family who goes missing after checking in to this same hotel many years ago! What kind of greeting is that!? Did I mention somehow it started raining with serious lightning outside. It was bright and sunny 2 minutes ago. Strike Two!
Shortly after, I am forced into a basement/boiler type room with spotty lighting. I was pretty concerned but I decided to think this was just the hotel's culture. Like they wanted all guests to understand the inner workings of the hotel. Finally! I met someone who wanted to check me in. Or so I thought. I mean, what a weird place to check people in from though. The basement? She asked how many people were in my party and once I told her she pointed me to the left. I didn't even tell her my name. She could have cared less. At this point I'm highly concerned. Unfriendly staff. Poor lighting. Horrible greeting. I was just disappointed in my experience and ready to leave. But no! I was instructed to climb into a freight elevator. With seat belts! I mean WTF? I have to buckle in and prove my seat belt works before ascending to my room. Remember, I don't even have a hotel key yet. After the elevator closes, the rest of the story is strike 3! Freight elevator? More like fright elevator! I'm seeing dead people. I'm flying in the air. The elevator is dropping flight after flight. People are screaming. There are ghosts and scary lighting. And the hotel has the audacity to take my picture during this whole torture?
As soon as the elevator opened, I left and ran as fast as I could. I quickly found myself in a gift shop. I mean, really? The nerve this hotel has!
