I called yesterday (Saturday morning) to request a Sunday appointment for a mani-pedi. A man named Peter suggested 11 am and confirmed the time and day twice. I asked for his name because I've had issues with this place before. When I arrived at 10:53 am I saw that Hollywood Nails opens at 12 pm on Sundays, not 11 am. In fact, there is no day when they open at 11 am. It's on their door. I hung around for 10 minutes just to be sure and left. Luckily, another nearby salon (much nicer and less chaos) was open and able to accommodate me immediately. I've had other negative experiences with Hollywood Nails and will never, ever return. There are too many other salons in the area that treat their customers with respect. read more

First time coming here and I'm impressed! The nail technician took his time and was detailed in his work. I had the second guy on the right and he was great! No nonsense talking unless it was needed. I hate having awkward conversations while I'm getting my nails done. I showed him a picture of what I wanted done and it came out beautiful! I also got a pedicure which was super relaxing. Nails were $55 and the pedicure was $25 I did not have to wait at all but I came around 10 am Thursday morning. When I left around 11:30 it was getting busy and people were having to wait. So come early in the morning if you can. Highly recommend and I will be back for sure! read more

New to the city, hadn't had a mani or pedi in months, see this place has good reviews. I get here at 9:20 and there is a sign in sheet outside and two women waiting. I was seen in about 5 minutes because I did not have a specific nail tech I wanted. My deluxe pedicure was underwhelming. The water was not very hot. I did not feel like they spent a lot of time cleaning up my toes. The massage was lackluster. The hot towels were also not hot. During this time I choose my dip color and what they they brought was much lighter. A few employees spent the next 15 or so minutes trying to find anything even close to the color I picked out. I mostly come on the weekends and the staff is sure to greet you as soon as you walk in and get you started right away. Although the staff can get backed up at some times the wait is still not super long. I've had different staff members give me pedicures at different times and each person did a great job! I use to LOVE this place when they first opened. Now ... not so much. The older gentleman is the ONLY one I would allow to ever do my pedicure. My last pedicure I suffered yellow build up on the bottom of my feet. Gross right? It gets even worse. If you don't get DAVID like someone else said please just walk out. I can't even tell you how painful my last full set was. God, the lady drilled my nails down to the bare. I don't know if it's because she was chatting away... ( which she seems to be the only one who does this rudely) or what... but honestly once she put my nails on it BURNED like all hell. I honestly couldn't even keep my set on enough to get a fill in. It's just was that PAINFUL. Even when she put me under the uv light to cure my nails it burned. And if you do get the dip powder it's so unsanitary how they do it. I've been going to Hollywood nails for about 3 years now and today was my final visit. I went in for a basic pedicure with french tips. My basic pedicure took 1 hour and 30 minutes... during my pedi I was cut by the tech and he tried to quickly cover it with the towel. I told him he needed to out something on it, he had to ask someone else what to use. He finally began polishing my toes and was unsuccessful with the French tips after three attempts on one foot ( he kept wiping it off). I eventually told him to just paint the full toe white.... he wiped that off two times as well. I alerted management and all he said was "sorry" which is more than the tech said. Needless to say, I will not be returning. The quality and customer service at this salon has gone down tremendously. read more

Im not going back. Not that they did a terrible job, but I've had better. My gel completely popped right off my thumb 3 days after I got them done. They didn't clean my hands before they started the gel process which I thought was a little odd.. my hands felt really gritty after they buffed them so they should have been cleaned. Also, I had to hold my hands under the light for 5 min after she was done adding gels. That's a lot of unnecessary exposure to the UV. read more

Get here early! I chose Hollywood Nails due to the proximity of my family that lives in the area. I waited what seemed like forever (over an hour), but I did not have an appointment and needed a special technician. I wanted to see how they did a gel dip so I could decide whether or not to use them for my wedding. When it was finally my turn I explained that I was testing the gel dip nails for my wedding. Then I put my hands, and faith, in the technician. I didn't fully understand what he was trying to explain to me. The whole time I was very nervous about what my nails were looking like. However, I was beyond pleased with the results. My nails were first covered in a pink shade of gel powder. Then the technician scraped the dip off the tips where the 'French' part was to be. I kept thinking "How is this going to have nice lines?!" When the pink dried he applied the white gel powder to the tips and cleaned/filed everything nicely. I had actually never seen this done before, but I have had gel dip before. The technician explained that this way I wouldn't need to worry about polish chipping off. I was ecstatic! I made the appointment for my wedding manicure before I left. My wedding nails were perfect and lasted all through the honeymoon! This was the best choice I could have made! When I am back in town I plan to visit again! I would recommend making an appointment. It didn't matter if I was there on a weekday or weekend, it was always packed. (It's also important to know that certification for waxing is different than nails so not all technicians can do both services.) read more

Asked for the pictured nails and showed him the picture. The man nail technician first started with a pink powder and after he was done I realized he thought this color was going to be my base color but looking at the picture you can clearly tell it is supposed to be a nude skin color. Not sure who's skin color is baby pink? I then told him it was too pink and that's it's supposed to be more tan skin color to which he told me "well i don't know if you don't say anything." Before he started my nails i said NUDE base color because i did not want it see through. Anyways so then he gave me the "nude skin colored" base also pictured. I ended up getting so frustrated I just let him finish so I could just leave. I then was told my nails cost $75??? I asked why and they proceeded to tell me its $45 for powder and $30 for gel. I explained to the lady I never once asked for powder and actually asked him to paint over it because it was NOT what I asked for. I'm not kidding when I say my pedicure was finished in 10 minutes. He scrubbed my feet for 1 minute and didn't even put the scrub on the back of my legs. I felt like I was being so rushed and so nervous that my nails were gonna look bad so I couldn't even enjoy my time there. The same guy did my nails and they have all sorts of bubbles in them. When I cam out front from drying in the back the guy was asleep in a massage chair, he didn't tell me thank you then or anything. I'm CURRENTLY sitting in the pedicure chair...have picked three different colors from the limited options they give you in the first place, and they are out of all three. Wish it would have been better since I planned on a fun day with my youngest daughter. We've been here over an hour. She's 1/2 done and I haven't been started. I'll be leaving with no pretty nails. Her mani/pedi went from 40, to 55, to 65. I was like "nope, not doing it". I told them to finish up and I'll pay the 40. But she's not getting at all what we were told initially. Just ridiculous attempts to overcharge, and I've never waited this long for nails. I'll be going back to sassy nails in Irmo even though it's farther. To top it all off, they filed her FINGER! She now has a raw spot; which of course they denied doing. She's 13 for crying out loud. Will NEVER go back. read more

I went here and my nails immediately started breaking a few days after (I had dip, so this should never happen.) I messaged them on Facebook to let them know and was told I could come in to get them fixed. When I walked in, I told them the situation and someone new fixed my nails, but I was charged for a full new set. When I explained again what had happened and showed them the messages, they said I needed to pay because it was a "new mail service" which makes no sense. I had one of the worst "manicures" of my life. First off I called to see if they do dip power manicures and they confirmed. When I got there they said they don't do dip powder but they have something "similar." So I agreed and proceeded. After soaking off most of my nail he took a blade and peeled off the rest, which was so uncomfortable. When discussing color he gave me only two options. After he did a trial run I then asked him to change to just regular polish because I didn't like the way it looked. He didn't do a manicure. My nails are super sharp. While waiting at the drying station I noticed how DIRTY this place is. I saw this tech grab a gel cure light from the pedicure station that was just used to use for her manicure client. WITHOUT wiping it down or anything. No station is wiped down after each client. Nothing have labels as to what they are using. There is a buildup on all the products. I was NEVER recommend this place. Save your money. read more

Not sure if it's the salon or the area (since this salon had the best reviews). Cheap products; very small selection of gel polishes (didn't recognize the brand). Didn't take proper steps/techniques which resulted in uneven, lumpy, nails that feel tight & plastic-y. Didn't have me wash hands before painting. No hand massage. I didn't realize how bad they looked until I was outside in the sunlight. When I came in, I asked for a fill. After removing my gel polish, the tech said I should replace the nails because my natural nails showed underneath. Since he's the "professional", I said "ok". He did not mention that the price would go from $30 to $50. I did not intend on spending $50 for a fill. Then had to spend another $50 at CVS for files/OPI polish, & 3 hrs to fix it myself since I now don't trust any nail salons in Columbia. read more

Came in for a pedicure . This typically isn't the place I come to . The older lady was extremely nice and did a wonderful job ! But really rushed through the pedicure . But when it came to the guy doing acrylic I saw that he grabbed a nail file and buffer thy he previously used on a couple of clients . I asked do you mind grabbing a new file and buffer . He slammed it down and starting being rude . I feel like as a customer you don't want the same buffer and file that another person previously used . That's most definitely a shed violation.
