Hollywood Boulevard is where you get as close to the stars without seeing them in person. The TCL Theatre is where many Hollywood legends have their hand and footprints in cement. You can even put your hand where their hands where. Take a tour of the iconic movie house and see up close where the Academy Awards were even held. Walk along the sidewalks and see those famous stars. Your favorite is sure to be here. Visit the wax museums and of course, the Hollywood Museum where thousands of artifacts from decades of movie making are. See the famous intersection of Hollywood and Vine. This street has a lot of history and it's a photo-op dream, but it is also a tourist trap of high priced shops and food places. Parts of the boulevard stinks of urine and there are homeless people everywhere. Crime is rather high once you leave the area around the TCL Theatre, so be careful. But, this is an awesome experience and a must-see. George Vreeland Hill

Scammers. Ignore these cosplayers on the street.

I've been visiting Ovation back when it was still called the Hollywood and Highland Center…read more Back then it used to have these amazing huge elephants on columns, but apparently, they were taken down because they referenced a filmmaker who was racist. If you didn't know the backstory, you'd never know. Now the plaza is rather plain. At least the bridges with views of the Hollywood sign are still there. When it's Oscar season, the shops are covered up with huge curtains and the red tiled grand staircase acts as a red carpet. My most recent visit was for the Chinese New Year celebrations. They had performers, a fashion show, and booths where you could do different things, like write down a wish and tie it up on a tree or get a special good luck red envelope that normally contains money, but in this case they stuffed them with coupons for a few of the nearby shops. The mall itself is a typical mall with stores you'd see anywhere else in the U.S., it's not crazy expensive like Rodeo Drive. The main difference is that the Chinese Movie Theater holds movie premieres and the Dolby Theater holds the Oscar Awards, so same, but not the same. I greatly appreciate the underground parking garage since parking is always an issue in L.A. and there are enough levels that if one level is full, you can just drive down to the next ones. I've had issues with paying for parking, though, everything from one of the machines not accepting my card only to find out I was charged twice, to paying a ridiculous amount because the event I went to at Dolby Theater wouldn't validate. My advice is to buy something, anything at one of the shops or restaurants so you can get that purple validation ticket. That way you'll pay $3 instead of an hour's worth of work or more, and make sure to put that purple ticket in first and then the regular white one. And no matter how many times I've been here, the zigzag directions for both the parking garage and escalators are disorienting, like why? Why not make it straightforward? Is the confusion on purpose to make us slow down? I've lost count of how many times I've been here and I'm sure that for one reason or another I'll be back because even though some parts of it are frustrating, for the most part it's good because of the special events it holds and the sheer energy of it being a tourist destination.

I don't think I go out of my way to visit the Grove, considering the distance and the difficulty of getting parking. Huge crowds, have to pay for parking, and even if you walk farther away, it's a risk to get towed and there's metered parking too that hit a 2 hour maximum, at least the last time I went there. Aside from accidentally wandering in here or being here for a specific event (seeing Yoshiki over a decade ago or the 20th anniversary Rilakkuma pop up, which was absolutely fisted with people), I've only wandered here on accident when hanging out with friends elsewhere. There's a good number of shops and eateries though, especially since it sort of shares the space/is right next to the Farmer's Market (great open area to go shop and to go dine). Large overlap of the same shops and eateries as the Americana, but there's things there that we don't have in Glendale. Lot of higher end businesses. Big fan of the La La Land Kind Cafe and what they do, their drinks, and their aesthetic. It's not a bad outdoors mall, considering how "fancy" it is, the fact that it's outside in the California sunshine, and the fountain with the Bellagio style musical water shows, but just know that the parking can get hideous.

Parking - One of the dealbreakers in my opinion. Especially during peak hours, it can feel like a maze here, you'll find that it's very easily to get lost here. Worse part is that parking is NOT FREE. However, there's parking validation but only specific stores. They don't tell you or list what stores give validation but even then, it's not for the whole duration and only for a specific time frame. A bit frustrating to deal with overall. However, there's plenty of good sides of the mall. The shops here are great, there's most of the stores that you'll find when it comes to luxury, and higher end shops. Ranges from Apple, Lucid, Tesla, Dyson, lululemon, Therabody, etc. The vibe here is very modern, lights up very nicely since it's a outdoor mall. It's very pretty here during the holidays, my wife and I came during Christmas to see all the holiday lights, Christmas Carols, and artificial snow, which turned out to our favorites. It was such a romantic and chill vibe, very cool to see this yearly. They often has collaboration events here such as these events, so be on the lookout for that. Food here is decent, over the years, they've added plenty of popular spots like Chick Fila, Shake Shack, but the staples here are most certainly Din Tai Fung, HaiDiLao Hot pot, Ramen Nagi, and plenty of other notable spots. I would say, they're all worthy to check out, just haven't had time to check them all out yet. Directory online and in person is very informative as well for the restaurants. Drinks wise, there's bars around the mall, but inside the mall, my go to here is Chagee Tea and Wushiland, both solid boba spots, Chagee of course is more trendy at the moment though. Very popular regardless. There's also Blue Bottle Coffee which I find very underrated. I absolutely love their Cascara Fizz, very much a soda like drink, definitely worth checking out as well.

Parking varies if on if you have a pass, if you're just going to the theme park, and if you're going to do validation only for City Walk. Though, it's pretty cool that it's reduced after 5 PM (technically you can do this for Disney, and , but it's after 7-ish instead). The scale of everything and the neon lights, and photo ops are much more impressive. Great to look at, at night and this was the location of my senior prom. Wish I had the intellect to just wander around City Walk instead of being forced to be in one of their event buildings only with some of the most cringe people I've met in my life. But I digress. Dining options are tad more limited with more desserts and quick service, standard fast food chains (probably the craziest Raising Cane's I've ever seen), and a couple of sit down restaurants. Neat that they have a Pink's since it's so closely tied to Hollywood history. For shopping, they do have a bunch of businesses that you can find at your local mall like Lids, Hot Topic, Shoe Palace (lol), Tilly's and much more. I think for the must stops and unique shops, it'd be the Sanrio and Hello Kitty Cafe, that chocolate emporium place (insane name), the Line Friends shop, and of course the shop that sells all the merch from Universal Studios. Due to the distance and the cost, it's not a place I'd go out of my way for, but if you're already at Universal or it's after 5 PM, it's worth it as a tourist and to explore.

A good plan is to use the Jurassic parking area (valet parking). You can get your ticketed validated at any of the main restaurants for 3.5 hours and the price is only $15.00. The most striking thing we noticed was the actual beauty of the architecture of each store. Even raising canes was amazing. Each store like Bubba Gumps and Margaritaville are really decorated nicely. We ate at Margaritaville and they have excellent food. Antijitos Mexican restaurant has some of the nicest decor i have ever seen. We plan to eat there next time. So many other shops to explore like It's Sugar and the gigantic chocolate emporium. I highly recommend making an outting here even for just some exercise or to come for lunch at one of these unique restaurants.

I've been to the Glendale Galleria literally millions of times over the years. Because I've visited…read moreso often, I know every single nook and cranny of the place. I even know the history of all the stores that have been there for a long time, as well as the ones that have closed over the years. I usually come here to shop for cosmetics and clothes, and I often have lunch or dinner here while shopping. With Macy's, Bloomingdale's, and Nordstrom nearby at the Americana -- which I always end up visiting too since it's right across the street -- this area is truly a one-stop shopping place. Since I've shopped at many of the cosmetics and clothing stores here over the years, a lot of the sales associates let me know in advance by email or text about pre-sale events and gift-with-purchase promotions. However, last Sunday, April 26th, I came here shopping with my mother, and she lost her Gucci sunglasses. She went back today to look for them, but sadly, they were not in the lost and found. She probably misplaced them while trying on clothes in a fitting room. Actually, I also lost my Chanel sunglasses here twice a long time ago, and I still remember how upset I was back then. Since this mall gets very crowded, especially on weekends, I think things like this can happen more easily. One of the biggest advantages of Glendale Galleria is that parking is free. And because there are so many different stores all in one place, it's very convenient for one-stop shopping. But one downside is that whenever I call Macy's, it's incredibly hard to get connected to the individual departments. I really wish it was easier to get through to their customer service on the phone. Also, at some point, they got rid of the toilet seat covers in the restrooms near the Food Court, which I think is a huge downside.
