We stumbled upon this hidden gem in Salem Ma. It's a jack-o'-lantern walk-through exhibit. There are thousands of intricately carved jack-o'-lanterns, with incredible effects and lighting. The labyrinth is very dark, which makes the jack-o'-lanterns really stand out! They also play spooky sounds as you're walking through. It was a magical experience!

The Witch House is a part of history that I have always been intrigued about. So it was a must to…read morehead there and see what went on in this house centuries ago. My daughter made our way to Salem today and this house was definitely on our to do list! My daughter and I attempted to go through the house earlier in the afternoon but unfortunately the credit card machine was down. After roaming for a couple hours we made our way back and we made our way in. The fact that this house has been standing in it's preserved form since 1672 is mesmerizing. To know the history about this house and what happened here over 350 years ago is mind blowing. How everything is perfectly staged, protected and preserved is simply amazing. Each room that you walked through has history notes for you to read. I appreciate that you have all the time to walk through, read the notes and absorb what you're looking at. Pieces of written documents, a bed that was slept on, a doll they found in the walls perfectly propped and protected. To know these pieces they have that are that old is a crazy thought! I looked out the glass window and envisioned what life would have looked like in Salem. The thought is crazy to me cause I'm sure Jonathan Corwin stood at the very spot and looked out of it too. Truly a crazy thought. I enjoyed my time at The Witch House. Looking at everything and thinking of what life was like back then. Thinking of the thought process of Jonathan Corwin when he sent those poor girls to the death at the Gallows during the witch trials. I think if you put yourself in that perspective going through this house, you'd really enjoy it! I have read a few poor reviews from people who didn't put themselves in Jonathan Corwins perspective.

It felt a little unsafe. I also didn't appreciate people taking pictures of the real documents-- I just felt a little disrespectful being there. I will mention I am sensitive to spirits but not a psychic. For me, the dining area was where I felt lots of energy and very off. I tried to buy a pin for the anniversary of Salem but it was very very pricey. I understand it's a tourist spot but I feel like profiting like crazy over this history is a little overboard.

It is located on a cool road. Before you reach the farm, you come across historical landmarks. The farm is a good place for little ones. It has a petting and feeding area. A nice playground and a you pick area. It also had an area with flowers. Inside the store is found vegetables and fruits, both fresh and preserved. It had some other items like seasonings, candles, candy, and baked goods, I got something sweet called stop the .... I don't remember the third word, but it got my attention. It tasted like a well-made apple butter. I liked it. The cinnamon bread was a little on the dry side. I can see why it would be good for French Toast. I found the service nice. The young ladies working the counter were helpful. Cool farm to visit.

Storytimes, playground with views of the animals, a hayride, and more! I highly recommend the storytime. They read 2 stories, sang hello to every child, had songs/rhymes, played with a parachute, crafts, and even apples, donuts, and cider - all amazingly free!!! The playground was fun for my 2 year old son and 7 year old daughter, but best for the 1.5-6 age range. There are rest rooms beside the farm store, but they're medal toilets with no seats, so my daughter refused to use them. (I don't blame her.) That's the only thing that kept this from a 5 star experience. We'll be back soon. Worth the hour drive from where we live on the south shore.

I appreciate that the museum has held workshops with the Mashpee Wampanoag and has held events with iconic Native artists like Joy Harjo (Muscogee). The Native American exhibit is refreshingly good. I visited the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) with my mom at the end of our day in Salem about a week or…read moreso ago, and we really enjoyed our visit. The museum has an extensive collection of Asian Art, but it holds more than 800,000 works of historical and cultural arts covering maritime, American, Asia, and Oceanic and African art. The highlight of our visit was visiting the Yin Yu Tang House. The house dates back to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Huang, a prosperous merchant, built this stately 16-bedroom, two story-house with a courtyard and called it "Yin Yu Tang," meaning "Hall of Plentiful Shelter." It was home to the Huang family in the Huizhou region for more than 200 years until the last of the family descendants moved from the village in 1982. In the 1990s, as part of a cultural exchange, the home and its contents were dismantled and transported to Massachusetts, where it was re-erected in the PEM. The PEM opened to the public in 2003. The house is currently undergoing work to preserve its roof tiles and masonry walls, so there was a lot of scaffolding obstructing views of the home and pictures taken of the museum. But it still well worth a visit; it's incredible. (The website says the house is closed 7/27-7/31 and 8/3-8/7, so maybe they'll have the work done by the end of those stretches!) I only wish the staff that had walked us into the house had explained exactly how much time we'd get inside the house before being ushered out for the next group, because my mom and I were using the audio guide to learn about the house as we explored. Before we finished several rooms, we were told our time was up, which was a bummer - we barely had time to peek into the rooms we hadn't gotten to yet, so I wish we'd known and could use our time better. They call it a tour on the website, but it's a self-guided experience; no museum staff walk you around the house. (FYI: You need a separate ticket for the Yin Yu Tang House, which you can buy on the website.) We explored the rest of the museum as well, including some of their interesting temporary exhibits: "Anila Quayyum Agha: All the Flowers Are for Me," "On This Ground: Being and Belonging in America," and "Beyond the Broom: Salem Short Films." Other highlights of our time were visiting the East India Marine Hall and seeing art and artifacts relating to the Salem Witch Trials. They also have a great gift shop, so save some time for that. A very nice regional art museum that is worth visiting if you have time in your Salem itinerary!
