As an educator myself, I could not be more pleased with the educational foundation my children are receiving. During the Covid crisis, the teacher and administration support have been astounding - in addition all of the class meetings, instructional calls, and materials provided, we a offered 1-1 consultations as often as needed. The teachers and administration have given above and beyond to provided support and meet the educational needs of the times. I cannot recommend this school highly enough!

We had a positive experience with the Newport News campus during preschool, though we ultimately…read morechose a faith-based school for elementary. For sixth grade (still considered elementary under the Montessori model), we returned to the Hampton campus. The school year started off well, but the teacher was a bit eccentric and was let go toward the end of the year. By year's end, we felt the education being provided was inconsistent, and we wanted more structure for our child going forward, so we chose a different path for seventh grade. When it came time for the elementary graduation ceremony, we received an invitation and attended, only to discover, upon arrival, that our child's name was not on the program. He had not been included in the ceremony simply because he wasn't continuing on to their middle school. This was disheartening for him, especially after a full year of good performance and full tuition paid. Excluding a student who completed the year successfully, solely because of where he was headed next, reflects poor judgment on the part of whoever made that call. Because of this experience, I would not recommend the Hampton campus.

I thought I was making the correct choice for our son by enrolling him in this facility. Unfortunately, I have realized how very wrong I was. I strongly caution anyone that has a child with dietary restrictions to think twice about enrolling their child in this facility. They do not respect parents wishes or children's needs with regard to food. If your child is vegetarian or lactose intolerant be especially careful due to the fact the try and feed your children "hidden" products to which they are unable to consume. Some examples are dairy products in mashed potatoes or vegetables cooked using Ham. Even when caregivers are aware of the restrictions they will feed your preschooler items they are not supposed to consume. When I expressed my concerns to the director's attention my concerns were labeled as "unfounded" and met with a hateful tone.

We feel at ease knowing our child is in very capable hands. Our kiddo loves his teachers, classmates and principal and is excited about school and learning. The kindergarten team is amazing. They have high expectations for the kiddos and are gentle, patient and persistent with them. Our class's lead teacher has been very approachable, and we have appreciated consistent updates and parental outreach. The administration's communication to parents is excellent- this is something you don't always find from other schools. They have absolutely triumphed through this pandemic and it is because they have kept the lines of communication open with staff and parents. Most importantly, they have made ZERO concessions and compromises when it has come to the children's health and safety. Bravo. We are glad that we are part of the HRA community.

Further, the sports and arts programs are among the best in the state for private schools. Happy students, engaged teachers, great programs for every grade level. Really unique trips, projects, and activities make the school the center of our lives even though we live 30 minutes away. We don't mine the drive (plus they provide a bus). Great place to be!

Our daughter did not give us all the details until three years later when it came out in counseling. However, she had gone to the principal repeatedly. We initially left because she was having panic attacks, we have since learned the panic attacks were happening because of how unsafe she felt. I have heard that the male student was finally kicked out after two classes of girls came forward refusing to attend Prom with this young man. Only then did the school respond but it was too late for our daughter. We really loved this school but now realize they are not prepared to handle the larger issues in modern days that will continue to come their way. Ignoring problems only hurts people and does irreversible damage.

I also practice attachment parenting, and wanted a place that would also follow the same line of discipline as I do. I interviewed with the director Kim in the summer, and knew that this was the place for my daughter. She told me from the start that they set up an environment where they do not have to say no often. She also mentioned that they try to get outdoors everyday, and if the entire class is having a bad day it isn't unheard of to not do much "work" and allow the children to burn off energy. I like this concept. Preschool doesn't need to be a "sit down, do this worksheet" type of place. Now, don't get me wrong, the kids there learn a lot! My daughter has progressed very well in Mrs. Denise's classroom. She's learned all the basics they teach in preschool as well as things like manners, respect for all living things, love for our environment, etc. It is a Christian preschool, but they do not go overboard with the biblical education.

I was made to think maybe something was wrong with my son. I decided to give another preschool a try ( a real Christian school). It took a few days but he eventually got into a good routine. He has done so well that I realized it wasn't my child... it was the lack of care and unwillingness of not one but two teachers ! I am sorry but there is just no excuse . Our new school has been around for over 30 years and expressed to me how in all that time they have never turned away a child. that's when I realized I wasn't dealing with a Christian School that actually wanted to help children. they are more interested in collecting what funds they can without having to put in much effort and that is just sa.. my son was not given a proper chance.
