Two years ago, I was in a spin class and the pedal that my left foot was strapped into broke, and trashed my foot. It did not start hurting immediately but a few days later I could hardly walk. I repeatedly tried to get management to respond to the incident by speaking to the front desk folks. Finally contacted the director, had a meeting with him, and sent a report of the accident to him. The instructor did not write up the accident but said that the machine had just been repaired and she hoped that I was not hurt. The insurance company representative got back to me just after the two-year limit was met, which meant that I could not sue them due to Virginia law and denied the claim. He also said that the YMCA does not maintain any repair records of their equipment and that there was no indication that there was a spin bike with a broken pedal. I have pictures of the bike and it is still in the back storage area. The insurance company also said that I could not sue the YMCA which is a lie. All I wanted for them to do was to pay for my deductible expenses and cover the cost of orthotics due to the plantar fasciitis injury. Please be careful if you use this gym because they do not maintain their equipment. Very sad about how I was treated by this company and I had always held them in high regard but not anymore. read more
