Upon entering the building, the atmosphere was depressing and miserable. The quality of the classrooms was not only dull and lacking adequate resources and stimulation for children, but they were also unsanitary and unkempt. The management seemed indifferent and disconnected, appearing apathetic towards the children's well-being, as if they were only there for the paycheck. Moreover, the overall state of the facility raises questions about the value for money. Considering the subpar conditions and the lack of engagement from the management, it seems highly questionable whether the cost of services provided at this childcare facility is justified. TLDR; My visit to this childcare facility left me deeply concerned and disappointed!

Photos have been shown to numerous medical and those professionally involved with DCFS and have all agreed what they looked like. Our granddaughter has also experienced a significant change in behavior going from a very happy outgoing 2 year old to one that suddenly stops and gets extremely sad and lays down on the ground and hides her face. This change developed over a few weeks after being moved into the 2's room. I personally had interaction that day with the woman that I believe was responsible. She was extremely negative about our granddaughter, made very libelous remarks about my son and his wife, to me directly, and expressed her dislike for our granddaughter stating her scream was too loud. When I went to pick up my granddaughter that day (because she stated she could not stop her from screaming) my granddaughter was laying on her cot, quietly, just starring at me. When I asked her to come to me she stayed looking frozen in fear. When I picked her up she immediately buried her face into my shoulder until we reached the front office, refusing to look at this woman. This woman approached me wearing a large fluffy robe and had been lying next to another child in the back of the room. When the Director of this facility was confronted the next morning by the parents, they were told the woman acted completely unprofessionally, that they had no concerns with their parenting, and that the woman was "having a bad day". Then fire her!!! No one that acts that way should be left with any vulnerable child. It was the day of the meeting with the Director that the bruises were noticed. Our granddaughter has never returned to this facility, the Director has stopped responding to the parents, and a complaint filed, with photos, with the necessary agencies. Both the woman and the Director should be removed from this facility.

On the positive side this experience served as a teachable moment for my kids. The eldest was at disbelief asking over and over again: Why are you been treated like this? How aren't you mad? Why don't you say something or call someone? Mom! Why are you so calm, even though you are being polite, they continue to treat you like this. This isn't right. In that moment, seeing how upsetting this experience was for them, gave me serenity and strength to remain calm. After exiting the premises, I sat with my kids and explained to them. How others treat you when they are in a position of authority or under any other circumstances when is required of them to act with professionalism, empathy and understanding says everything about them. If you respond with aggression and disrespect, you will be exactly like them. Never get down to their level, always remain respectful.

I packed my whole house and no books. I send an email to the teacher to get his belongings. She says she will have them ready. I go to pick them up and guess what he has no belongings. Shocker! The last day of school the kids bring home their belongings but if you move, you do not get anything. My son also way diagnosed with a learning disability but does not qualify for any programs. Just wow. Enough said.

Then again, she *has* been concentrating awfully hard on letter "C" and drawing cornstalks and scarecrows....oh wait, Halloween just passed. Nevermind. She has an awesome teacher. If I thought the teacher would feel comfortable being named here, I would, but with all the cyber gray areas, I'll resist the temptation to sing her praises by name. This teacher is fully engaged with the children. One day my child came in late and was reluctant to join the class and my cajoling wasn't helping. Mrs. _ took command, firmly but kindly directed S where to go when I could not - and blew me away with her adult to child communication skills. I almost felt like turning myself in to the principal's office for being a slacker. I check Little Daughter's book bag everyday and her in-school work is thoroughly checked for mistakes, she is given 'family' homework, regular progress reports, and updates. If I have to email her teacher, I get a response within a day, usually within hours. Once, she had a problem with another studen trying to take her lunch away from her. She came home one day hungry and explained that someone had taken her lunch (she's 5!!!) and she didn't get to eat. My initial response was to go all Ninja around corners and slink down the hall into the cafeteria and get that little 5 year old punk at lunchtime by the collar and tell him if he ever stole her lunch again, he'd better watch his back at recess. Then I realized that was not what a Mature Adult would do, and I emailed Mrs. _ , who had the situation rectified the next day, and Little Daughter out of his target zone. My only gripe is that there is too much junk food at the school. Gummy bears for treats, and the typical crap cafeteria food in every school. But they are trying; they are putting more whole grains out, the kids cannot use their pin numbers to charge ice cream to the lunch account(they have to have cash), so that helps it when it comes to cutting back on the junk. So I'm not deducting stars. Seriously, this is one awesome teacher. And overall, it looks like a great school.

My son began struggling in 10th grade while attending a local public high school. I can't begin to tell you how many meetings we had with teachers, counselors, deans, principals, IEP and district representatives. Since he wasn't a discipline problem they kept passing him on. I soon learned my son was an experiment for a floundering system. Following a terrible semester report card, we decided to search for a private school. I was surprised to find Pensacola had so many choices. After visiting most of them, I concluded these private schools were all a one-size fits all style of student and curriculum all except for SoLA. On our second visit to SOLA, Mrs. Tarver "interviewed" my son to identify what was missing in his quest to become a lifelong learner. Finally a school administrator that was willing to get to the core of why he wasn't learning. The SoLA staff had truly taken an interest in my son reaching his full potential. SoLA taught him first; that he must want to learn. Once he learned this skill others followed, including; independent thinking, creativity, integrity and balance, he became happier and believed for the first time he could do this work. He became independent, self-motivated and the stress level in our home dropped significantly. Final thought: While our local schools are struggling to lift performance across the board, SoLA is doing this one student at a time. Teachers will always be underpaid - and underappreciated but the teachers at SoLA know they didn't choose to teach for these reasons. They chose education to change lives and the Pensacola School of Liberal Arts does this greater than anyone else... One student at a time. Congratulations class of 2016 including my son and thank you Jacqui Tarver and Travis Cummings for teaching and caring for all of these children!

Months of trying to communicate to this school that my daughter needs to refrain from gym class…read morebecause of severe medical concerns. They insist they need medical documentation that isn't possible at her age, she's 6 and it requires a specialist that will likely take well beyond the end of the school year to get an appointment with. I've given them information about the suspected condition, that it's genetic, and went into detail about my own history with the same genetic defect. And how having her run without being assessed by a specialist first puts her at risk of permanent loss of her ability to walk. She got home today and the first thing she tells me is she was told to run laps and couldn't do it. The school was instructed very clearly to keep her out of gym class and why. If your child has any disability that needs accommodation, DON'T LET THEM GO TO FLOROSA. It isn't worth the potential harm. If they have done the same to you, please speak out. Our kids need to be protected.
