He loves what he does, is very knowledgeable, pleasant to talk to and shared a lot of nice stories about the outdoors. He is definitely an asset to Circle Bar Stables. For anyone booking try to go on his tour!! The nice gentleman that answers the phones is very sweet, I had to call several times to change my tour and he was so helpful I can tell he has been with the Stables a long time and loves being there. When I arrived I was the only one and he told me to go walk around while I was waiting I guess he read my mind. I had to take off 2 stars because of the Gentleman from Texas that works there. He honestly seems like he hates his job, he asked me several times if I was on a horse before and I told him give me any horse I'll be fine. He chose AXE and while he was bringing him over to me AXE was being a little stubborn and didn't want to come not because he didn't go on the trail but he was uncomfortable with the Texan. What bothered me most was he said "AXE STOP BEING A JERK" which made me really upset and uncomfortable. I don't like it when people wok with animals and call them derogatory names.

I was informed to pay my last installment the day before camp started. I paid the day before camp, and she said. "Thank you!". Within a few hours she texted me saying her barn flooded and camp was cancelled. I asked for a refund seeing as I paid her HOURS before and she said no. She obviously knew she was going to cancel, but still accepted my payment. She said she had already spent it. She only offered credit for Summer. (Which I was not happy about). When I tried to explain that it was hard on my family to be out $600 she started ranting on and on about how the city owes her family money and land. She had no care or compassion for how others felt she just wanted for herself. I held my tongue thinking I might use the credit in the Summer. I didn't want to cause drama if for a small reason I still let my children attend. She even had the audacity to ask for another $100 donation after I had NEVER even experienced camp. Then after winter camp being cancelled, Spring camp was also cancelled. She didn't even know where Summer camp would be or when, but still said I could only keep credit. After reading about all the other people in town having horrible stories, I decided to ask again for a refund since we would not be using our Summer Credit. Again, she had no willingness to help refund my money, even a partial amount. She is not fingerprinted to work with kids, she has no camp license (or at least has not been able to show me one) and she is incredibly rude. As a local teacher in town I would NOT TRUST kids with her.

That was before we discovered the "Passport 2 History" program. When we did get the Passport and reviewed which spots were in it, I was glad to see this property listed, as an incentive to go back. We made a return visit two months ago, on a warm Saturday afternoon. It was lovely to see the vintage architecture spotlighted against a brilliant autumn sky. Warmer than usual, with no wind, it was a great time to be at the property. There was a young woman covering the gift shop. She told us that while the grounds were open, they weren't able to offer tours of the house that day. "Shortage of docents". I don't know the situation with who currently owns / runs the house - is it a foundation, the City, the County? Many historic properties were deeded by descendants of original owners to local municipalities to be shared with the public going forward. I'm sure that it's a challenge for any legacy property like this to get enough docents lined up, trained, and scheduled. They would mostly be volunteers, after all. While it was disappointing to not revisit the interior of the mansion, we did collect out P2H sticker, then spent time wandering the grounds. That was something we hadn't done previously. The lawn areas and mature palm trees are serene and beautiful. Going around the perimeter of the main house yielded new views I don't recall before. We snapped some photos, then adjourned to the train museum next door. The next time we're in the area, we'll call ahead to see if they are offering tours that day. Might be wise to do the same!

The farm area is open and my kids were able to look at old farming tools. There are benches here as well. Definately a cool place to bring a picnic. We saw people walking their dogs, enjoying the grass area, and just enjoying the scenery! Located north of Santa Barbara in the city of Goleta.

I brought a water bottle attached to a lanyard and both of these employees felt the need to judgmentally ask me if I "really needed that water bottle" and "are you sure that won't fall off?" Of course, the water bottle did fall off. When we got back, the man rudely and unnecessarily remarked "I told you it would fall off." I was paired with a terrible horse who did not follow any of my commands, constantly ate the vegetation, pinned his ears at and would try to bite the other horses for no reason, etc. I have some experience riding horses and I was doing my absolute best with this out-of-control horse. In turn, I was continually being barked at by the guides to "pull up on the reins and release, don't let him eat, kick him, go to the back, catch up to the rest of the group, keep him away from the other horses" etc. In addition, we rode through a very busy freeway overpass with multiple onramps/offramps and cars everywhere. We also passed right next to an active railroad. Of course, a train roared past a mere ten feet away from us. The horses spooked and it was a miracle that no one was thrown off. We were not given any prior warning that we would be riding in the middle of these very dangerous environments. If there was a warning in the waiver, I wouldn't have known because we were so rushed to sign it and had no time to read it. We finally made it to the actual beach and spent a mere 20 minutes on the shore before riding back through the danger zones towards home. I spent the entire ride pissed off, disappointed and feeling unsafe.

As for the room - it was incredible. We booked the Ocean View Suite with balcony and we loved being able to sit on our balcony to watch the waves/sunset. The club lounge was also amazing (highly recommend adding). We brought this to the attention of the sales team several months ago, and they did lower our rate a bit. But it has still consistently been almost $100 more/night via their link for our wedding. I wish I'd read the plethora of negative reviews before buying chicks from this farm. It would have…read moresaved me from a total nightmare. I paid $50-$60 per bird for 5 chickens from Dare 2 Dream Farms because I believed I was buying healthy, responsibly raised animals from a higher-standard, "organic" operation. What arrived was the opposite. The transport box itself already contained bloody stool. Before the birds were even out, there was visible evidence of serious illness. Once inside, it became clear how severe it was. These chickens were emaciated to the point of feeling skeletal, weak, huddling, and not drinking. Within hours they were deteriorating and continuing to pass blood. This was not stress. These were critically ill animals on arrival. For comparison, I also bought 3 new chicks from a different source the day before (costing ~$20 per bird). Those birds were active, chirping, eating, and thriving immediately. The contrast was stark. An independent poultry specialist confirmed what was evident: these birds were severely compromised and had been for some time. This condition does not develop during transport. Beyond the condition of the birds themselves, this created a serious biosecurity risk. I have an established, healthy, happy flock of 13 hens and 3 chicks. Introducing visibly sick birds -- with active bloody stool -- put my entire flock at risk of infection. I had to immediately isolate, treat, and manage the situation as a potential contamination event, spending the next 9 days in intensive, around-the-clock care trying to keep the new birds alive while protecting the rest of my flock. Nightmare and ethical dilemma. The response from the farm made the situation worse. The condition was initially minimized as "normal", then explanations shifted. At the same time, I was repeatedly encouraged to return the birds. I refused. Given their state, I believe they would have died if they had been sent back. They required constant intervention just to stabilize. A partial "goodwill" refund was offered while I was actively managing a severe medical situation, then a full refund was made contingent on returning the birds, and ultimately any refund was revoked. To be clear: 1. Premium price charged for supposedly high-quality birds 2. Birds arrived visibly sick, emaciated, and passing blood 3. Biohazard risk introduced to a healthy flock 4. Condition minimized rather than addressed 5. Pressure to return animals in critical condition 6. Refund offered, then withdrawn This is not a minor issue or bad luck. This is a failure of basic animal welfare and responsible husbandry. I cannot recommend this farm under any circumstances.
