I had an excellent experience. The staff were professional and attentive. I was particularly impressed with the promptness of the appointment and the clear explanation of treatment. The facilities were clean and modern, contributing to a comfortable and reassuring environment.

Unless your loved one is currently severely mentally incapacitated this is NOT the place for them. Please conduct a thorough investigation including social workers from local hospitals and local ombudsman programs. I'm a current resident who has experienced the treatment and food here so I hope my first-hand experience gives this less than glowing review some credability. Below is a picture of a Ruben Sandwich for a dinner. Notice that the "sauerkraut" is just s few tiny slices of raw cabbage. Notice also that the corned beef, usually found on a Ruben sandwich, is thinly sliced luchmeat ham like that found in an Oscar Mayer package hanging in the luchmeat section of a Von's Grocery Store

Very bad UTI left unattended by staff and led to sepsis admit to icu

Mostly I'll be in need of a great rehab team, in that the shoulder replacement requires meticulous up front care.

After 3 long pages provided from a hospitals case manager, I narrowed it down to 5 that I had the patience to tour and interview in person. That's a lot to go to!! From there, I boiled it down to 2 places, West Valley and another on Devonshire was my backup. I am VERY pleased that after all that due diligence, I found out a friend that recommended this West Valley Post Acute center, without even knowing I had already chosen it as the winner. My detailed research and personal referral from someone else who had experience here made me feel even more at ease to place my Dad here. My Dad was released from this place last year and has been in our family's care at home. But after a recent hospital incident, a year later, my family had to put him back in rehab, per the doctors recommendation. Of coarse we had to have him back here and only here! Luckily, there was room for him. I was even able to request an amazing CNA named Sofia to be assigned to him again. All the nurses, doctors and entire staff are great, but we felt really comfortable with Sofia and grateful to have my dad assigned to her station. Overall, it's not easy to put your loved one in a care center.... even for short-term. But if you have to, then trust me this is the right place. If it wasn't then I wouldn't consider him back in the same place.... And I feel at ease to have him back in the same care that we trusted.

When my mom needed help sometimes, she had to wait, once for 1 1/2 hours just to use the restroom. When a CNA is on break or with another patient there is no coverage even when other CNA's are doing nothing. Upon leaving, my mom said she needed to use the restroom and the CNA said I just took her. I told them it was a 45 minute ride back to Thousand Oaks but they did not care. I drove with my mom upset the entire way Luckily, when we arrived at the assisted living they found a wheelchair and 2 of their people took my mom immediately to the bathroom. The food at Northridge looked disgusting although my mom ate it. Sometimes I brought her food. This facility is understaffed and needs remodeling before I would ever recommend it!!

There is a pretty bad language barrier on the 3rd shift. I was in there for knee replacement surgery and a couple of the CNAs during the night shift didn't under the phrase ICE PACK. Communication is pretty bad with two of the nurse supervisors. I won't mention them by name, but I think it's time for them to find other work. One of them almost made me miss a very necessary surgery and didn't bother to let me know that they were having problems faxing information over to the surgery center. I was having problems with a very loud neighbor across the hall, and the weekend night nurse supervisor said that if I didn't like it that I could go elsewhere. Apparently, she got written up for that. We did not speak after that. On the whole, the staff tries to do the best they can under the understaffing circumstances. Some of the CNAs are golden. The nurses are unbelievably giving with the brief time they have to offer. The housekeepers do a terrific job. The kitchen staff was very helpful. The monthly "candlelight dinners" were pretty cringe and while they're trying to do something special, I found myself wanting to leave every ten minutes. I think they went with the most mobile people. Pro tip: lose the Karaoke. Sweet gal who tries her best, but no. Just. No. I shared the bathroom with the patients next door. Both staff and the patients next door walked in on me doing my business more times that I care to remember. If you're going to see the show, buy a damn ticket! LOL. Or... learn to KNOCK. It's not that hard to raise your fist to the door. Unless you're missing a hand or something, then kicking is entirely appropriate. The Physical Therapy team was terrific. They went above and beyond. They recently had their yearly inspection from the City of LA. They ranked a 3. According to the people I spoke to who were in charge of the inspection, Northridge is one of the better Nursing Homes in the area, and that scares me. I did my best to treat everyone there with kindness and respect. I saw Alzheimer's up close with some of the patients. A stroke patient screamed like a siren. The patient across the hall from me is verbally abusive to the staff and they have to just shut up and take it. During the final days of my stay there I was this close to letting the bully have it. Now that I have had a chance to decompress, They did the best they could do with the resources they were given. I would not go there, however, if you have been injured or are recovering from surgery. I had knee replacement surgery and there was no structured plan in place to help me to get from point A to point B except to go to Physical Therapy. So I was on my own.

Review for Veronica,…read more It is a joy to have you in my home and taking care of me. You truly have a heart like Jesus, as He said, 'I have come to be a servant of all and show you the Father's love through my actions.' Your daily actions, such as always entering my home with a sweet greeting and a smile. No matter what may have occurred on your drive to work you never let it change your kindness and compassion towards me. Your daily respect for my autonomy and personal choices have been a great relief and blessing to me. Last year, 2025, was enormously difficult for me physically, emotionally and mentally. I was badly injured by a caregiver who really didn't want to be with me. She wanted to run my life instead of letting me make my own decisions. Everything was a struggle. I am still dealing with the pain and suffering from her carelessness almost a year later. You, however, are the complete opposite of that caregiver. You show genuine care, compassion and empathy to me. At the same time you keep a close watch on me for my episodes, for any unusual reactions, for changes in my body or mind that may indicate something physically is about to happen or something that is happening without my knowledge. Your daily care of me is exceptional. Everything from reading my body signs or noticing that I am in the middle of a call, task or just not ready. Yet, you come back or tell me it's getting late for something we have scheduled. This may be as simple as my breakfast or as important as helping me to get ready for my doctor appointments, my bloodwork or therapy. You encourage me to try many things that can help my health, mood or my outlook for the day. Such as, helping me relearn my Spanish while I help you with English, or walking around the house with my gait belt and walker. You keep me on top of my goals. These can be as basic as making my bed every time I get up (in the morning and after my nap). In fact, this helped me create and continue this habit. Another goal of mine is building my strength and stamina enough to walk around outside my home. This has not happened yet, as I have been primarily bed bound since February 19, 2025. You encourage my stretching in bed to keep my body as limber as possible. This helps reduce injury in case of a fall. My personal Internist, Dr. Fondren of Newport Beach certainly appreciates your encouragement and reminders to help me to regain the strength I have lost since February 2025. (when a different caregiver injured me). Once I have regained a little more endurance, then I can start physical therapy. Finally, my family has been at peace with you being my main caregiver and I love how well you and Gabbi work together caring for me. Just knowing how dependable you both are, how you communicate with each other changes, concerns and even my meal planning and cooking. My sister and my son (they both call me almost every day) are amazed that I finally have a team like you and Gabbi. Thank you Veronica for everything and I look forward to 2026 being a great year with continued great care!
