I booked a room for 3 days for work in the area. Upon my checking in no one told me that the blinds not working. There was a note on the window when I went in. The blinds fell down; I went to the front desk and was given a roll of duct tape. I had to climb up on the air conditioner to tape them back up, but they kept falling down. There was NO cold water in the shower. The water was extremely hot!!! The response I got when I addressed the issue with the clerk was" tell the manager in the morning". I did but, nothing was done. This room should have been out of order until everything is fixed. The manager acted like he didn't know, when in fact his name was on the sign about the broken blinds. read more

Wow. Is all I can say. The Manager Greg is the absolute most unprofessional manager I've ever talked to. He was the most rude person ever. Incompetent. We got charged SIX times on their machine and they couldn't fix it and started blaming our bank when it came from THEM. We also had a separate room and my card got charged DOUBLE. All I can say is that I'm very disappointed in my experience and I hope this was a wake up call for Greg. I have our conversation on record and can be used for legal purposes if need be. Whatever the problem was regarding the bad reviews in the past, they seem to have straightened themselves out. We needed a place to sleep after a long day of driving all the way from PA, we've generally had good experiences with Holiday Inns and we weren't disappointed this time either. I think it's pretty neat to see soap & shampoo dispensers in hotel showers instead of those wasteful little plastic bottles, very forward thinking. read more

I've stayed at MANY HIEs but this one was the best so far. Front desk is so nice and welcoming. Rooms were very clean!! The nicest surprise was breakfast. Everything was clean and stocked. No waiting for the pancake machine to be filled or the cinnamon rolls to be refilled. It was as it should be! Great location just outside St. Louis and just off the highway. read more

The hotel itself is ok. The breakfast was very good and the beds are comfortable. I was totally appalled at the staff. We were in and out over a period of 3 hours in the afternoon. There were employees sitting at a desk in the middle of the lobby loudly complaining about everything and everyone. One of them told someone on the phone to be quiet they were talking to loud. Customers in the lobby were all talking about it. We got back around 11pm. I had checked in earlier but the room wasn't ready so I was told to just get the key when we got back. I went to the desk and told her what room and that I just needed the key because I was checked in. She rudely and I mean rudely told me I needed an Id. We had just come from a wedding and I had my hands full of stuff and just wanted to go to bed. Of course I had no ID on me. I told her once again I already checked in and she told me she wasn't giving me a key until I had an ID. They didn't even ask for one when I originally checked in. My husband was outside moving things from the bus to different cars. I had to gather everything up and go hunt my husband down so I could get his ID. I have never seen a place where the whole staff obviously hates their jobs and clearly have no idea how to treat customers. It was unbelievable. read more

My husband and I spent two nights in this hotel and it was probably the nicest holiday and I've ever stayed in in my life and that includes their upscale Crowne Plaza brand. The girl at the front desk was very nice and checked us in properly and correctly. The room was absolutely beautiful, with thick plush long towels like you'll get at an expensive spa. The bathroom fixtures were modern and I liked the sink faucet so much I'm going to incorporated into my bathroom remodel next year. They also had a rack of pump bottles of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in the shower which made my hair shine. This was also without a doubt the cleanest hotel I have ever been in in my life. It was literally sparkling. I'm a retired road warrior and I've seen a lot of hotels in my life and I know the difference. The beds were comfy, the TV worked properly and the Internet access was free and fast. I wouldn't recommend eating at the Fire-N-Smoke restaurant across the street, but other than that this was a great hotel and if I have to go back to Highland I will absolutely be staying here with my husband. Wife and I rolled into this Holiday Inn after a long haul from Texas. We were tired and quite frankly, going into one hot and humid state to another, I was kinda of rank. The young lady at the counter, was helpful and honored my military service for room discounts. She was very informative about the hotel, terms and other items, visitors would need to know. I want to give kudos to the Holiday Inn (express) in Troy, Ill, just outside of St. Louis. read more

You know that story [true] about Van Halen asking to have brown M & Ms removed from the bowl in their dressing room as a harbinger of more significant things done poorly? Wanna know how to "Van Halen" a hotel? Look for a "do not disturb" sign. If it is missing, it's likely that the Hotel is going to suck. Guess what? No DND sign. Like a little flat fortune teller, that missing sign was an accurate predictor of the absolute nightmare that my stay would be! Physically, the hotel was old. I mean OLD. A "George Washington sleep here" sign would have been appropriate. The blackout shades looked like a zebra - you know, black, then a tear, black, then a rip then black again. Kleenex box was split in half and the TV remote was so gross I had to use a ziploc bag to protect myself. It was kind of like a movie set designer came in and placed all the necessary Holiday Inn logos and stuff around with the certain intent of removing them the next day. The place did not "feel" like the HIE brand. Oh, internet sucked. Lousy coverage, a hub that accepted just a few connections and a bad URL. The subject was the topic of conversation by several tables in the filthy breakfast area. Made several calls to the front desk in the evening attempting to resolve. Nada. BUT, I did have the pleasure of having the front desk clerk hang up on me after my second call. How's that for great service? Oh, in the A.M., I requested a refund, but conveniently, the only person in the galaxy who could authorize such was off planet. A promised call from the manager later in the day was, of course, not forthcoming. Friends, there are several motels within a mile of this hole. Please do yourselves a favor and go to one of those. I wouldn't wish this one on my worst enemy. read more

As soon as I walked into the lobby it smelled like a locker room. The wasn't much better and felt a little dirty. The drapes were torn and you could see spills on the desk. The bed felt comfortable enough, however. Next time I'll keep driving and look for something else. read more

The place was very humid at night. It felt like we stayed in a dessert. Also the wifi coverage is lousy. I was told there was a business center with a working computer at check in. I used it the following morning but couldn't. The password to log in want wiring and the associate at the desk didn't know the password to log us on. He was very friendly and did apologize for the mishap, but I do have a business to run. To summarize this review: GO TO ANOTHER HOTEL. read more

The rooms are so hot and stuff we had to have the air conditioner on, even though it was 35 degrees out. On top of that, the air conditioner is obnoxiously loud and vibrates like its about to fall apart. When the air conditioning isn't making noise, the paper thin walls let you hear everyone going on next door and every step taken by the people in the room above you. For over 100 bucks on a Monday night, it is definitely not worth the price. The prior hotels such as Comfort Inn- gives a lot more bang for the buck. This Holiday Inn has a difficult Wifi page to login and then the signal is weak. Room is basic, bed is hard, pillows are old- clumped up feathers. Not a kleenex box in sight. I would say that unless breakfast is amazing, this will be my last Holiday Inn visit. They are living off the name - as in the past, it use to mean quality. read more

Made a reservation to attend a funeral, arrived a bit early to check in , was told I couldn't check in until 3 as hotel was understaffed and rooms not ready. Ok, fine I follow the rules. Came back at 3 and still no movement on the room, was asked to wait while they clean it. The funeral started at 4. When it was 3:30 and I still didn't have a room I was told I could use the restroom to change if I needed to. I think the housekeeping manager ended up cleaning my room. I got the room at 3:45 and dumped my luggage, not in the mood to fight right then. Stay was fine, beds comfortable and clean (the hotel is brand new) but the noise from floors above and hallway and neighbors seemed excessive for a new construction. Next morning I got a check out slip under my door, my reservation for 3 nights somehow hadn't "gone through" and they didn't have that size of a room to give me. We have a family of 6 and had reserved a suite. We moved across the street to the Best Western. Not as shiny but same type of breakfast... no suite but I got adjoining rooms for my large family and their basic rooms are nice and roomy. And perfectly quiet here. Now I see my credit card was overcharged for the one night I stayed at Holiday Inn. Lovely. Don't let the new hotel glitz fool you, they don't have their act together here. read more

Absolutely disgusting! As soon as you walk into the hotel you have this smell that's gross, even the rooms have the same smell. I had to buy an air freshener for our stay. My child got an infection from bathing in the rooms tub. I've been in contact with corporate and the GM. I was promised a certain refund, but still haven't received it all. I have called corporate back to let them know about four times now. They claim they can't reach the GM and can't refund me anything in case he already has, so I can't get a double refund. I've asked for the executive office to call me, no go. They are avoiding me and giving me what I was promised for the terrible experience and injury my child got on their property. I have ER records as proof. I have an email from Stephanie (executive office) stating my refund amount. I've emailed Didi Patel(GM) and he has ignored me. They should be offering me a full refund and a week's full stay to one of their hotels after I have had to take my child to the ER and deal with this shady company. I am giving them until Monday (just to be nice) otherwise I will be disputing this charge with my credit card company. read more
