It's where I saw many of the classic Disney animation films and one of my favorite musicals, Sound of Music. Today, I went for a taping of a STL news program. Great Day St. Louis was doing a live broadcast promoting, the centennial of Route 66. The program was not only informative, but entertaining as well. I enjoyed seeing the old theatre that now host, concerts, comedians, movies and a variety of other activities. Seeing the old concession stand, plaques on the walls and the vintage decor added to my flashback of the good ole days. Seeing the second floor as an event space was super cool. It would be great for a wedding reception, retirement party or a momentous birthday or anniversary. If you're in need of a party space, be sure to check, The Wildey.

The most important parts of a concert venue to me is sound and the view. Sound was great for the opener and main performance. The view can be obstructed depending where you are. Shows are general admission -- there is some seating but more standing room. We were able to grab a table & seats though and even though we were behind people in standing room only, the elevation of the floor where we were made it easy to enjoy the show while seated. I like the availability of a patio during the show though honestly it seemed pretty well claimed by smokers LOL.

My first experience was a dog show. They had the various vendors set-up in lobby and extra wide hallways wrapping around the various ballrooms and conference rooms. In the large ballroom, was the actual show. Everything went smooth. I just was just an attendee, but saw no problems. Second and third visits were doing the pandemic. I came here to get my first and second vaccines. The flow and organization was pretty amazing, I was in and out very quickly. Then my most recent visit was for the, River & Routes Tourism Bureau Annual Summit. The set up had a good flow, it was able to handle over 375 guest registering and then going through a buffet line for lunch. In the ballroom the acoustics were acceptable and every table had a good view of the stage. The staff working the conference room, were quick to clear dishes quietly and to refill water pitchers on the tables. Overall, in my opinion, they do a good job.

The concession stand food prices are outrageous for what you get...$6 for a pretzel that had clearly been chilling in the case from the day before...and just bleh. There could be something great here, but it just misses the mark every time.

The amaretto sour that my wife got was light on the amaretto and very heavy on the sour. Server had to ask someone if there were other ingredients. Not great, but not terrible. I attended the Jeffrey Osborne concert and was shocked to learn we had to climb several flights of stairs to get to the balcony seats. If I missed this when I purchased my ticket then I apologize. If there wasn't a disclaimer, the Sheldon should add this to future events. It should be a check box you must complete acknowledging you must walk up several flights of stairs. I saw people with canes walking up stairs. This is not safe. Once upstairs in the balcony, the steps leading to each row are very steep and the step to the lowest row is a huge drop without any warning. I understand we don't want to destroy the character of this beautiful building but something must be done to warn people. Suggestions: 1. Warn people in advance 2. Fix the step to the bottom row of the balcony so it's not a huge drop Or, stop using this building for events, especially the balcony.

On Wednesday's the MX has $5 tickets for all the movies being shown, even new releases! Saturday & Sunday, they have $5.50 tickets for the early bird showing of each movie. If you join the rewards program, you can earn stars that can be redeemed towards concession stand and food purchases. Concessions and food are appropriately priced for a movie theater. I love having an affordable movie theater to take my kids to!!!
