Dust on basically everything. Headboard was not wiped down or we wouldn't have been able to see other ppls past fingerprints. Fridge door was not properly cleaned. Not to mention we had cold water to shower with and in the whirlpool tub to use on Saturday. I asked the front desk if this was normal cause it's never happened before and we've stayed many many times here in the past but I will say this hotel has gone down a lot in past couple years. He said they had a two boilers for it one had broke down but just got to working again they think. Well it wasn't. I didnt think I'd be paying $800 for two dirty rooms with cold showers. We have decided not to ever come back to this location again. No one helped us just made excuses. Hotel is dated, they even used clear tape to hold up some of the wallpaper in the breakfast area. Also had a weird odor throughout the hotel. Ruined our valentines weekend stay out of the house that's for sure.

Booked directly through the Hyatt site, using a prepay non-refundable rate, costing about $100 per night. Some additional things of note from previous stay: + large room with double beds, and a sleeper sofa. + the hotel wasn't full, so rooms were available for early check-in. However, it was clearly marked that early check-in might cost an additional charge, depending on your World of Hyatt Tier. A non member would be charged $50 extra for 09:00 to 13:00 check-in, all the way to no charge if Globalist. I'm noticing this at Hyatt's now. + got a chance to use their breakfast on two of the mornings. It had the two hot dishes (an egg dish and a meat dish), along with assortment of continental breakfast items. One thing I really liked was the make-your-own-waffle machines (two of them). The premixed matter is quite good, and the machine is setup so the waffle are not too dense. + they rolled out a service to make the TV in the room be Google Cast eligible. Any app on your mobile device that has 'cast' enabled, can now send it to the TV. Netflix, Disney, and HBO-Go all worked well. The list of TV channels was good as well, with plenty of basic cable channels. It was also good to hear the local news, though we didn't recognize any familiar faces on the broadcasts. It's been a long time since we lived here. + daily housekeeping is available, but if you don't need it, it can be lowered to a basic refresh on every other day. + I made a mistake and left my backpack in the parking lot while we were leaving. The early morning attendant on duty, did some due diligence to figure out who it belonged to, and then gave me a call on my cell before we had gotten too far. This could have turned into a disaster for me, but everyone involved was very helpful and not judgy. It was really appreciated.

Needless to say, the next morning, I went to a local place for breakfast and paid less than $10.00. Next, I checked in late Monday and went to Jewel Osco for work items: a case of water and snacks to keep my team focused and uplifted. Well, after returning, I found out that a water main had broken, flooding some lower-level rooms, and that the fire marshal had shut down the elevators. The manager got two staff members to help me with my grocery bags since I was on the third floor. He told me that he could book me into another hotel. Still, if anyone knows anything about the Chicagoland area, the bedbug capital of the US, it is Chicago, followed by Cleveland and Detroit. So, no, without researching, I'm not moving to another hotel. Besides, has anyone read my Embassy Suites review that mentioned black mold being painted over? By Wednesday, the elevator still wasn't working when I checked out. It was a pain bringing down my hug roller bags, computer bag, and tools, but at least I'm not bringing critters with me. The final issue was that the showerhead in the bathroom was pointed directly at the toilet, so the entire floor got soaked and became a slip hazard. Someone obviously didn't think that through! But wait, one more issue, the reading lamp didn't work; that was close to my bed. On a good note, the staff were friendly, and the hotel was clean, so three out of five stars.

I was concerned at the time, but did some googling and it was probably because they never changed the batteries on the smoke detectors periodically. I stepped into the hall in my skivvies, then I realized the chirp was coming only from my room, so got dressed and went to the front desk. At the front desk, I got grilled about exactly how many times it had chirped while I was sleeping and the exact time between chirps. This was at 5 AM, 3.5 hours earlier than I'd planned to get up. Then I got accused of smoking in my sleep (I don't smoke). I intended to bring her up to the room at her request to investigate, but at the elevator she was no longer interested and just said to go back to my room and let her know if it keeps happening I should let her know when she couldn't get in contact with her manager, so I just packed up my things and went back home, pushing off the construction for 3 weeks. Called to complain about being woken up at 4:30 in the morning and to get a refund on my additional night. Front desk wouldn't let me talk to a manager, though they did refund my non-refundable room at least, so I accept this as a business not looking to improve at all and will tell all friends and folks I work with to stay away.

She shared they had a shuttle that ran every 30 minutes (ending at 9:30p). It was perfect! And we didn't have to pay for an Uber nor walk in the heat. Just paid a tip to the driver. The front desk staff member also offered us water and toweled off the excess moisture before handing it to us! Nice touch and attention to detail. The hotel was neat and clean - not much for views, but that's ok since we spent less than 1 hour of waking time in the room. The temperature was perfect. The bathroom was appropriate stocked and tidy. Plenty of complimentary bath supplies. I don't like the scent of their products, but it's nice it's available if needed. Bed was comfy two pillow per side. Outlets were available more near the TV/desk area. The only outlet accessible next to bed, was the outlet through the alarm clock. Because of the knob on the clock, I amost couldn't plug in my Apple Power block...however, I was able to temporarily remove the nob from the clock, which I promptly put back after I unplugged my device. Couch was ok. Kind of scratch material and wasn't comfortable to sit on too long, because the AC blows right at your head. Spacious walk in shower with sliding door. Check out process was very simple. As we waited for our ride-share, I just provided our name and room number and within seconds we were checked out. I would definitely stay here again if we are in the city for a show.

The GM who's name i forget and the manager Kelly hooked us up with a laptop to watch it on then they took the extra step and hooked us up with a board room with a TV. I was so grateful, that these two amazing people went above and beyond for us. It doesn't stop there. My return flight was delayed by a few hours. Giovanni (big Barcelona supporter) gave me an extended checkout, no charge. I want to thank everyone at the Hilton, from the bartender to the wait staff. Always helped when asked and answered all questions. was able to loan an induction hot plate so I could make one-pan meals. Pan included was very small so more for eggs than full meals for two. Rooms showed some wear but no major defects. Water pressure was okay but not strong. Tv dark balance was off and remote did not allow for adjustment. TVs were 4k sets and fairly large though. Beds were a bit firm but clean. Was a rough night rest the first night but a 30 dollar mattress topper really helped. Just think of it as an unseen add-on for the stay. Not hard, but needed some cushion. Internet speed was reasonable and only disconnected once or twice a day. Worked well enough for the occasional team meeting or call. Pool was heated but not hot. Still a little chilly but if you swam a little it was easy to shake the chill. Gym was small but functional. Some dumbbells one cable machine and 5 cardio machines. Breakfast was very basic. Egg circles, breakfast breads, a couple protein options and a waffle station. Not great but good enough to get you going. It's not a bad hotel by any stretch of the imagination. It's functional and works for the average traveler. There's some maintaining that could be done, and some accommodations could be better, but if you're in the state for work it will do.
