    Complimentary hot breakfast

We have stayed at this hotel 5 times this year, and every time, the room, the service and the price were right. Front desk people were always nice and efficient. Checkin takes 5-10', and there was never a wait for us. Parking was always available. All the rooms we have stayed in were spacious. We had a double queen suite one time, and a queen room with kitchenette some other times. We didn't need to use them, but there were fridge, microwave, dishwasher, portable stove, bowls, plates, pan/ pot and utensils. Bathrooms, beds and linen were clean. There was hot water running strong in the bathroom and sinks. I have nothing to complain about this place. I highly recommend this place for the cleanliness, friendliness and convenience that it offers.

Stayed here for one night as I was in town for a concert. I was skeptical since a lot of the reviews were bad but I noticed most of them were prior to the remodel so I decided to give it a chance. Check in process was easy. Rooms are clean. Staff were pretty friendly. They have a fitness center, pool, and complimentary breakfast. They charge $20 per day if you plan to park your vehicle in their parking lot. The permit is issued at check in. Although I didn't care for the parking charge... this hotel was a great deal for the area so you can't beat it. Overall, I had a nice stay.

Nice and comfortable hotel. Very modern and upscale-feeling on the inside. Room was large and spacious. Great TV for watching football. Parking is easy here. Breakfast was very good, on the "better" end as far as IHG properties go. Lots of shopping and food nearby.

Stained carpet next to the beds.

Room smells like sweaty clothes. I stay in a lot of Holiday Inn Expresses and this one is low on the list of quality. Staff is friendly, breakfast is typical except there is never any half and half. Not everyone likes flavored creamers and on two days, the coffee was ice cold. Parking is good. However, when I first walked into my room, it smelled like a men's locker room. Carpets were stained and there is debris under the air conditioner and under the bed frame. Looking at other reviews, my room is not the only one that smells. During my 5 day stay, my TV never had a signal. Even after I asked the front desk to have it looked at, nothing was done. If I didn't have to stay here for work, I wouldn't stay here at all.

Came to San Diego for a little vacation and check in was easy and fast. The lobby is clean, the room is spacious, clean and fresh. The AC works amazing! Their breakfast was surprisingly good. Overall our stay was very pleasant.

We do a little "staycation" here every five or six months, just to get out of the house. It's a favorite because they have recently renovated, provide quite a few amenities, and are centrally located near the freeway, shopping, and restaurants. Price-wise it's pretty comparable to other hotels in the area, and includes an actually decent breakfast. The kids are obsessed with the automated pancake machine! There can be some sketchy-types hanging out at the 7-Eleven next door, but for the most part they don't bother anyone. I think the two and half stars on Yelp is unwarranted, and you can see most of the more recent reviews are very positive.

I stayed as a guest of a guest! I got in late the night before and woke up starving. I manage to find the dining area and foot area. I walk in! Hmmmi smell the food but, I don't see it. Everything looked as if I missed breakfast.! I hear the banging of pots n pans I peek my head in and there is standing my future bff for 1.5 days! I asked ummm sir did I miss breakfast! He goes no it closes at 9:30 it's 9:22 lol. He goes let me show you. Y'all seen the Jettisons? Well this pancake maker was definitely confiscated from their cartoon kitchen. Grab breakfast and back up the vator Well then I go back down and Mr I call him Challenger is boom right where I left him. Sir do you know if a Ross's is close by. Lo and behold Mr Challenger let me follow him to the nearest one. And if that's not enough I had cut the tip of my finger the night before on a paper towel dispenser! Brutal works of art aren't they! So my finger was getting in my way when I was doing my hair! Ouch right ladies. Well I call guest services. Ask where I can purchase some bandages nope you come on by the desk they are waiting for you. the lady demands! Noooo problem I toss on my whatever's and hoof it straight down Lo and behold! Mr Challenger with some ointment and two bandages! Mr Challenger. Thank you for your amazing friendship! And customer service. I could have slipped you a 20 and called it a day! Not good enough for you! I feel you deserve the 5 star treatment! Your amazing! Now go trade that car in. I'm still looking for that t top ok! One pleasantly pleased guest of a guest. Andrea M

    Elevator not working

The good: The hotel and the room are very clean. The staff was ok The bad: It took a male receptionist over half an hour to check one person in (a long line was formed due to this) That is at 7:00 pm not a typical check in time. Parking is horrible. The-stalls are so small ( just wide enough to meet specifications ) . Hard to maneuver , to get in or out. Even then on the day I arrived availability was almost zero. They run out of most Breakfast items before 9:30.. supposed to serve until 10:00. Elevator by the lobby out of order, ice maker out of order...When it worked the elevator makes a loud noise and jerks before making a stop scaring the hell out of everyone inside. That is why I gave them 3

From the moment we asked to change rooms due to comfort and cleanliness concerns, the staff became rude and dismissive. They outright refused to accommodate us, so we decided to stay the night anyway -- BIG mistake. The room had fleas and bedbugs -- I woke up with several bites and ended up getting pink eye the very next day. Not only that, but NONE of the amenities advertised were working -- no AC, no functioning facilities, yet they had the nerve to deny us a refund. We were also charged a deposit, and despite multiple attempts to reach out, we've been completely ignored. No communication, no apology, no reimbursement. We went over the contract thoroughly, eventually deciding that we would bring our own vendors (taquero, DJ, photographer, baker, event decorator, and 360 photo booth), as I have known many of these people for years and have an established, trusting relationship with most of them. Joseph said that was perfectly fine, the only service that we had to use from his side was the bartender, which my husband and I understood. During this meeting we also met his assistant Patty and were told that she would also be helping us through this process, but that he was always available, and we would have his complete attention the week of and leading to the day of our daughter's celebration. Part of our contract states that we were able to bring the supplies/decor/spirits to the venue the week of the quince. So, on May 4th, my family and I filled the event room with the decorations et al, that we would be using for the following Saturday, the 9th. Every single day, Monday through Friday that week, my mom and I were at the venue, sorting through boxes, opening packages, putting the cake table pieces together, setting up the candy bar, making sure that when the day of came, everything would be organized and ready for the staff to take out to decorate. Friday afternoon (5/8) we met with Patty to clarify all of this. But first let me elaborate a bit more... My family and I had informed Joseph and Patty that we would be bringing some salads, fruit/vegetable platters, and items for a nacho bar that would need to be set up before we arrived. Joseph explained that he did not have enough staff to help with that (8 people doing various jobs, still unsure of what) and that either myself or a friend/family member would need to come and get this ready because he could not accommodate this. We were so grateful that our BAKER, who is not employed by the venue, was able to help with this since she was also arriving early to bring the desserts for the cake table. More on that in a minute. When we arrived at the venue the day of the quince, it looked beautiful, the tables looked ready, centerpieces, runners, etc. then I started noticing that there was so much more missing, and my guests were already walking into the party space. For starters, I did not see hardly any staff in the party area and Patty was unfortunately running around like a madman. She was feverishly trying to set up the luminaries and LED pillars we had brought for the garden walkway. I also noticed that the fruit/veggie/nacho bar table was not set up. I ended up rushing to the clubhouse where all of this was being stored and took everything out of the refrigerator myself. I encountered a staff member on the way back who said to me, "Oh are you the mom? Oh let me know what you need help with." My mind was absolutely boggled. Did my family and I NOT just spend the entire week here and leave detailed instructions? And then... While carrying said fruit/vegetable trays, I walked by the tables to notice that there were not any "reserved" signs placed. We had asked for two tables to be held for the immediate family. I had mentioned this to one of the staff, I believe Lily (she was very lovely) and said she would get right on it. About 10 minutes later I saw that the signs were there, but what I learned the following week was that one of the tables already had guests sitting at it and they were promptly asked to move to another table. Sigh... And then... Once my husband and I were able to catch our breath, we grabbed a quick drink. Jason was our bartender, very kind and solid drinks. While we were at the bar, Joseph came up to talk to us, telling Jason that someone got sick in the bathroom and that he had to stop serving hard alcohol for an hour. Mind you, the bar has only been open about forty-five minutes, and no one has had any shots or is intoxicated. We all disagreed with this but had to oblige. By this time, we were falling behind schedule and had to do the main entrance. Then I realized that I had not seen my daughter in almost two hours, the sun was starting to set, and we did not take any pictures with her in this beautiful space because we had to do the jobs that we had hired this venue for. In the end: No pictures with our daughter in this space that cost half our budget Staff enjoyed our taquero without checking to make sure all of our guests had eaten Saw photos of Joseph and his staff enjoying our 360 photo booth Learned that 80% of my vendors experienced an unpleasant encounter with Joseph My guests were unsatisfied with parking/golf cart availability Not enough restroom signage Reports from vendors state as of 2pm, tablecloths weren't even on the tables.

So I got a car service. We talked and the closer we got to the Lemon Grove area of San Diego the more I realized this place is urban contemporary. Noted the Food4Less and Dollar Tree store if I needed anything after my event. Check in to the Rodeway Inn on Broadway was interesting. The door to the lobby was locked even thought it being early evening with the sun still up. The nice receptionist pointed to the side of the building to check in. I walked around the side to a plexiglass window and checked in. Read the sign on the wall about check out, non-smoking...etc. The receptionist was nice, well dressed, professional and gave me my room card. My room was on the ground floor. As I crossed to my room a shirtless older man was in the parking lot talking to himself. Inside my room it smelt like cigarettes. I'm sure the receptionist told me this inn was non-smoking. So I turned on the air conditioner to air out the room. Hurriedly freshened up and ironed my clothes for the event. My event was to see a theater premiere at The Moxie Theatre which was less than 10 invite drive from the Rodeway Inn. I ordered my car service. When my driver arrived I stepped out of the room and the look on her face was happy. She was nervous that the shirtless person was her guest. On the way to the theatre she asked me why I chose that inn and I told here that i'm just here to see my friends show and Rodeway Inn was close by. She told me this area is touch and go. After the theatre performance and mingling afterwards I went back to the Rodeway Inn to chill. The room smelled less smoky thanks to the air conditioner. I showered and grabbed the remote control to turn on the television to watch Saturday Night Live. The only thing that came up on the tv was "no signal". I tried all three output and no change. So I tried several times and no change. Ended up just watching things & scrolling on my phone. In the morning I relaxed and packed up around 10:15am. At 10:30am i headed to the plexiglass office area to check out. A woman exited a side door as I pressed to call button. No one came to the window. I pressed to call button about 3 times in five minutes with no employee to appear. I started thinking is this how they charge customers if they do not check out by 11am? Well the cleaning attendant stood next to me and knocked on the plexiglas. Because she had someone's phone and to tell the worker that a particular room had smokers. Guess they charge them. Finally an older man came from the back room looking tired. He received said phone and the room number of the smokers. I checked out and asked for a printed receipt. Did not want any unnecessary charges. The stay was nice. Very comfortable bed but the activity in the parking lot with random men walking around was shady at this inn. I walked to the subway station. It's very close.
