    the floor breaking apart

Honestly one of the worst hotels i've ever stayed in. when you first drive in the driveway you are greeted by the stairs and top floor breaking apart. not a very pleasant first impression on the hotel. check in isn't until 3pm which is a pretty inconvenient to those new in the area. when trying to check in at 3pm, there was a line outside coming out of the lobby as people were trying to get a room. took us about an hour to check in even though we payed online. we finally made it to the room it had a stench of cigarettes. the carpet by the edge of the bed had looked like it was tearing and in pour condition. the cover top blanket had small holes. the bed was extremely hard and left me with back pain the next morning. my family and i had left the room the next day to enjoy some of the spots out here in SD. we returned around 2:40pm which is when we received a call from the hotel staff telling us they need us to move rooms due to flooding. we asked for a refund and they had said it was too late. they stated they had called our room before but since we were out of the room we had not been reachable. which when we told them that they have our phone number on file, they stayed quiet. i opened the bathroom door and stepped into a huge puddle of water leaking from the fire sprinkler. we had then proceeded to head downstairs and switch rooms. as we made it to the lobby the hotel staff were extremely disorganized and did not have our room ready. at that point we had felt as if we should switch hotels as this was not the experience we were looking forward to. the reviews do not accurately reflect the hotels. i would give it 0 stars if i could. was expecting better. was only able to get a picture of the outside of the hotel but i feel as if this accurately represents the condition of the hotel

    Roach

Rooms smell like pee, thin walls you can hear everything, sketchy people walking around ,no microwave and Nasty house keeping stocking dirty towels and reusing blankets from previous guest that "seem unused" very sneaky ,roaches, rats running around ,not to mention theifs if they clean your room WATCH THEM. Office is very rude ,unprofessional and argumentative.

Blood spots on bed from bugs

if i could give this place less than one star I would - not only did it have BED BUGS and they REFUSED to fully refund us, the front desk people AND housekeeping were downright NASTY. The front desk manager HUNG UP on us when we asked for TP - we ended up buying our own. I got BIT up and even caught a bed bug under a cup for proof and it still wasn't enough to get refunded without 'talking to the manager' tomorrow. Do NOT stay here - it's disgusting. The health department will be contacted in the morning ASAP. Everyone here should be UNEMPLOYED and this hotel should be CONDEMNED.

Checked in today, 10/1/2024, using Booking.com. That process was easy I'm staying two nights. Paid in full prior to arrival and used the drop down menu to estimate time of arrival at between 1-2pm. I get there at 130pm. Man and elderly lady behind the counter helping a guest that appears drunk and exchanging facial expressions. Once he leaves, they ask my name and ask me to have a seat for 5 minutes while they get everything ready. 15 minutes later, I'm finally helped. I'm asked for my ID and credit card and told there's a deposit of $50, an early check in charge of $22.08 for showing up between 1-2pm and the room fee of $168. I advise I've paid in full, which she confirms and then says to just pay the other 2 fees. I ask why I'm being charged the $22.08 when it's 1:45pm and "those are the rules". They should notify their online partners of these hidden fees, so guests aren't shocked when they arrive. There are 3 different early check in fee options based on the time and 3 different late check out fees based on the time. As I'm waiting for the key, a worker comes in and drops off keys and says he'll be right back with two glue traps for the mice in the office. Carol, the elderly lady at the desk, asks for more than that. Gross!! I should have left, considering they can't even spell TAPPING (see pic) correctly, but I was exhausted and my Lyft had already left. They also have roaches, see pic. No bed bugs. Trust me. I looked. I saw throughout my stay about 20 different staff members and only one looked normal. None very friendly, except the older Caucasian maintenance tech man with the fancy moustache. He was definitely raised right. We had room 304 and a lady in room 306 apparently was supposed to be out a week prior per the conversation I overheard when I was in the lobby for another issue. The La Mesa PD were called to remove her. Turns out she was dead in her room and they waited a week to call anyone to remove her so she wasn't found until that day.

Where do I begin, first let me say the rooms do not look at all like the pictures. When I arrived I wasn't actually greeted, an.older lady names Carol, approached "can I help you?" No hello or welcome. I said, "yes, im checking in & gave my name". It took her a moment, she sat my reservation on the counter & asked how I wanted to pay? I said, "ma'am my reservation was prepaid a month ago". She said. "Oh no it was not" I replied, 'yes ma'am it was I have my receipt on my phone & you  already debited my bank card." She insisted i pay again. I tried to show her receipt off payment, she pushed the reservation paper towards me saying, "you have not paid, you need to pay". I was annoyed at this point. So I pushed it back and stated again, "yes I have paid im not paying again, you need to fix this". She told me I booked on Booking.com I explained 2 months ago I reserved through them but it was canceled back in April and rebooted through Agoda, paid through them. She eventually found the current reservation, never apologized just went on about her job. She gave me my room number, on 2nd floor. Normally I wouldn't care but we reserved a handicap room on the first floor because my mother is handicap. She took a deep breath and said "we don't have any, your on the 2nd floor, nothing I can do". I asked. "Do you at least have an elevator she can't walk up stairs?" She pointed and said it was around the side. I was not very happy. While I was checking in I overheard she had triple charged another customer which happened to be my sister who was coming down to complain. So onto the room we go. Let me tell ya these rooms.look NOTHING like they show on Booking, Priceline, Agoda, or Hotels Com. They are very dated, run down and musty smelling of cigarettes (in a non smoking room). The end table drawers were upside down, table looked like.it was used as a chopping block, had to level the fridge with hand towels, the circuit plug next to bed was wired so everything turn off when the main light switch was turned off which meant we couldn't charge our phones unless the lights were on. Found baby roaches running across the bathroom floor and bathroom counter, cigarette burns in the comforter, and inside the fridge smelled like a mix of jalapenos and vinegar. Now they state no dogs except service dogs, Soni was able to have my dog but there were ALOT of dogs on the premises and they were not service dogs and off leash. So the exterior, the entrance is confusing as heck, the street you turn down to enter the property looks like a freeway on/off ramp, very dangerous. We drove passed 4 times before realizing we could turn down that street. When you turn in your making a left in front of people exiting the freeway at a decent speed. They surrounding area has a good amount of homeless wondering about, we didn't feel safe. The pool looked nice but jacuzzi was greenish. Ice machine worked well and elevator smelled of cigar and cigarette smoke. I research my hotels before I travel and this hotel was nothing like what it showed online, seemed more.like a Covid hotel, needs major work and a staff that needs a class in customer service

When you book through a 3rd party, such as your preferred airline, you should be seeing photos of what the hotel really looks like. To start, we open the door and it's pitch dark. Feel the walls for a light switch and can't find one. Turn on phone flashlight and it's behind the door. One single light in the entire 'living' area. In the ceiling. No table lamps to read by. Light in bathroom and vanity areas only. Phone to call out inoperable. Entry cards had to be reprogrammed daily even after following all protections to keep from being demagnetized. Ice machine in lobby not working. Apparently hadn't been for sometime. Told to go to restaurant across the street and they'd give us some. Nope, would fill the bucket for $3.79. Needed ice for swelling after knee replacement, not drinks. No fan in bathroom for steam or smell. Mattress comfortable but pillows are all encased in plastic and pillowcases wouldn't stay on. Obvious attempt to spiff up room with decent tiling in bathroom. Plugs were all loose and had a hard time charging phones. Put out do not disturb sign and they came in our room anyway just to shut off a light. We leave one on so we know if room has been breached. When we say stay out, we mean stay out. Hubs talked to staff on duty and they said they had to clean a minimum of every 3 days by law. In past hotels we have had medications stolen and suitcases gone through. Are we supposed to repack and taking everything with us each time we leave our room? All of this to say that when they were told we didn't have a handicap placard because it was in the car at airport we came from, they 'upgraded' our room and let us park in front of office. If this room was an upgrade, I cringed to think what our reserved room was going to be like. Excuse our belongings in photos. I wanted to document when I was reeling from the appearance of the room.

The rooms were spacious and clean. The parking is free (that's a savings of $30 a night or more compared with other hotels!), there's a free breakfast, and the rooms were splendidly dark at night. The downsides: the heater/cooler unit wasn't particularly great at heating, and was noisy; the water pressure was pretty low, and the water was only warm; and the breakfast was pretty not-great (though I liked the biscuits and gravy!). Mixed bag: The location was perfect for us to visit family, but for a San Diego trip it might feel out of the way, and it's an Uber ride to a trolley station to get downtown. (But what you save in parking makes up for this hassle!) Also, the room was pretty quiet unlike freeway-adjacent hotels, but it was VERY noisy in the mornings as they rolled out bins and such. The service is hit and miss, too. Overall, though, were pretty pleased and surprised!

We went over the contract thoroughly, eventually deciding that we would bring our own vendors (taquero, DJ, photographer, baker, event decorator, and 360 photo booth), as I have known many of these people for years and have an established, trusting relationship with most of them. Joseph said that was perfectly fine, the only service that we had to use from his side was the bartender, which my husband and I understood. During this meeting we also met his assistant Patty and were told that she would also be helping us through this process, but that he was always available, and we would have his complete attention the week of and leading to the day of our daughter's celebration. Part of our contract states that we were able to bring the supplies/decor/spirits to the venue the week of the quince. So, on May 4th, my family and I filled the event room with the decorations et al, that we would be using for the following Saturday, the 9th. Every single day, Monday through Friday that week, my mom and I were at the venue, sorting through boxes, opening packages, putting the cake table pieces together, setting up the candy bar, making sure that when the day of came, everything would be organized and ready for the staff to take out to decorate. Friday afternoon (5/8) we met with Patty to clarify all of this. But first let me elaborate a bit more... My family and I had informed Joseph and Patty that we would be bringing some salads, fruit/vegetable platters, and items for a nacho bar that would need to be set up before we arrived. Joseph explained that he did not have enough staff to help with that (8 people doing various jobs, still unsure of what) and that either myself or a friend/family member would need to come and get this ready because he could not accommodate this. We were so grateful that our BAKER, who is not employed by the venue, was able to help with this since she was also arriving early to bring the desserts for the cake table. More on that in a minute. When we arrived at the venue the day of the quince, it looked beautiful, the tables looked ready, centerpieces, runners, etc. then I started noticing that there was so much more missing, and my guests were already walking into the party space. For starters, I did not see hardly any staff in the party area and Patty was unfortunately running around like a madman. She was feverishly trying to set up the luminaries and LED pillars we had brought for the garden walkway. I also noticed that the fruit/veggie/nacho bar table was not set up. I ended up rushing to the clubhouse where all of this was being stored and took everything out of the refrigerator myself. I encountered a staff member on the way back who said to me, "Oh are you the mom? Oh let me know what you need help with." My mind was absolutely boggled. Did my family and I NOT just spend the entire week here and leave detailed instructions? And then... While carrying said fruit/vegetable trays, I walked by the tables to notice that there were not any "reserved" signs placed. We had asked for two tables to be held for the immediate family. I had mentioned this to one of the staff, I believe Lily (she was very lovely) and said she would get right on it. About 10 minutes later I saw that the signs were there, but what I learned the following week was that one of the tables already had guests sitting at it and they were promptly asked to move to another table. Sigh... And then... Once my husband and I were able to catch our breath, we grabbed a quick drink. Jason was our bartender, very kind and solid drinks. While we were at the bar, Joseph came up to talk to us, telling Jason that someone got sick in the bathroom and that he had to stop serving hard alcohol for an hour. Mind you, the bar has only been open about forty-five minutes, and no one has had any shots or is intoxicated. We all disagreed with this but had to oblige. By this time, we were falling behind schedule and had to do the main entrance. Then I realized that I had not seen my daughter in almost two hours, the sun was starting to set, and we did not take any pictures with her in this beautiful space because we had to do the jobs that we had hired this venue for. In the end: No pictures with our daughter in this space that cost half our budget Staff enjoyed our taquero without checking to make sure all of our guests had eaten Saw photos of Joseph and his staff enjoying our 360 photo booth Learned that 80% of my vendors experienced an unpleasant encounter with Joseph My guests were unsatisfied with parking/golf cart availability Not enough restroom signage Reports from vendors state as of 2pm, tablecloths weren't even on the tables.

I walked around the side to a plexiglass window and checked in. Read the sign on the wall about check out, non-smoking...etc. The receptionist was nice, well dressed, professional and gave me my room card. My room was on the ground floor. As I crossed to my room a shirtless older man was in the parking lot talking to himself. Inside my room it smelt like cigarettes. I'm sure the receptionist told me this inn was non-smoking. So I turned on the air conditioner to air out the room. Hurriedly freshened up and ironed my clothes for the event. My event was to see a theater premiere at The Moxie Theatre which was less than 10 invite drive from the Rodeway Inn. I ordered my car service. When my driver arrived I stepped out of the room and the look on her face was happy. She was nervous that the shirtless person was her guest. On the way to the theatre she asked me why I chose that inn and I told here that i'm just here to see my friends show and Rodeway Inn was close by. She told me this area is touch and go. After the theatre performance and mingling afterwards I went back to the Rodeway Inn to chill. The room smelled less smoky thanks to the air conditioner. I showered and grabbed the remote control to turn on the television to watch Saturday Night Live. The only thing that came up on the tv was "no signal". I tried all three output and no change. So I tried several times and no change. Ended up just watching things & scrolling on my phone. In the morning I relaxed and packed up around 10:15am. At 10:30am i headed to the plexiglass office area to check out. A woman exited a side door as I pressed to call button. No one came to the window. I pressed to call button about 3 times in five minutes with no employee to appear. I started thinking is this how they charge customers if they do not check out by 11am? Well the cleaning attendant stood next to me and knocked on the plexiglas. Because she had someone's phone and to tell the worker that a particular room had smokers. Guess they charge them. Finally an older man came from the back room looking tired. He received said phone and the room number of the smokers. I checked out and asked for a printed receipt. Did not want any unnecessary charges. The stay was nice. Very comfortable bed but the activity in the parking lot with random men walking around was shady at this inn. I walked to the subway station. It's very close.
