Hilton Garden Inn Indiana at IUP - Guest room

Hilton, Indiana, PA…read more So, last night was my first time staying at the Hilton in Indiana, Pa which is right next to the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I am in my doctoral program and yesterday marked my third year with my cohort. In the past, I have been staying at the Hampton because it was cheaper, but for some reason, the Hilton was cheaper than the Hampton last night. Therefore, I got to experience it. Of course, I am a Hilton Honors member and so I ALWAYS enjoy the digital key and not having to check in at the front desk. This Hilton is absoulutely gorgeous. It has a great ambiance as soon as you walk in with a variety of spaces to sit and relax. By surprise, this hotel as a bar and restaurant and some of my cohort classmates enjoyed a few good cocktails that were made by Linda. After our time at the bar with the amazing bartender, Linda, I went to my room. I purchased a King bedroom and it met my standards. Everything was clean and the bathroom was great. I will make sure that I purchase my rooms for the next 4 stays that I have to visit IUP. If you have a student who may be graduating from IUP. This is the hotel you want to stay at.

The room was a good size and you could see the IUP campus from the windows. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. I miss the free breakfast " hiltons" although I do get a credit towards the room being a diamonds member it probably isn't worth it for a continental breakfast. One thing I will say this Hotel had daily housekeeping, which was very nice to come back to clean towels and a reset bed. There is a single dose, Keurig machine with multiple K cups in case you can't get down to the main lobby for the free coffee.

I was Very pleased with my choice, The Heritage House Suites! It was affordable for one night, close and very charming. The Master's Suite: 15 foot ceilings, large windows that had shutters for privacy ( which I Loved personally), beautiful hardwood floors, large square deep bath/shower, full kitchen with microwave, fridge, oven stove, coffee maker, dishes & silverware, two extra large wine glasses for the wine I brought along. The suite was quiet and very cozy. They offer free wifi, and free parking. They have a Beautiful wraparound porch to sit on during the afternoon or early evening but we didn't get a chance to enjoy, will the next visit !! We will definitely stay again as well as Highly recommend to family and friends... The only think I would suggest to management would be more of a cable or TV package, viewing was limited and nothing to watch. They offer a DVD player to watch a movie but we didn't bring any and the suites didn't offer any collection. ( bring your own movies ) Tracey was Wonderful !! Thank you for your help and patience on our arrival

I had the pleasure of staying two nights at Heritage House Inn and Suites, and I do mean…read more"pleasure." Sure, I could have stayed at a cookie-cutter chain hotel in this university town, but for just a few dollars more, I rented the Master's Suite, literally half of the second floor of this beautiful Victorian mansion, which came equipped with a huge sitting room, a full (private) bath, and a complete kitchen. The kitchen was the selling point for me when booking the room, since I'm on a strict diet and need to be able to cook fresh food (rather than rely on fast-food and takeout). To be clear, this is NOT a bed and breakfast. There are no common areas in the house, and the innkeepers do not provide meals. It's really more of a furnished rental, available for short and long-term stays in Indiana. Pros: Comfortable bed and sitting room furniture, full kitchen, WiFi, cable TV service, full bath, complimentary bottled water and snack basket, off-street parking, walking distance to restaurants and shops. Plus the staff is very friendly and helpful and their pre-arrival communications (confirmation emails) are excellent. Cons: Neither of these should reflect poorly on the innkeepers or Heritage House. But I have to mention them: 1. Noise. Bring your earplugs (I always travel with mine) because 6th Street is apparently a major artery and every pickup truck with a bad muffler in Indiana County must drive past the house between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. 2. Street construction. Indiana is tearing up a bunch of streets, including School Street, which requires the roads crew to barricade the street to any motor traffic. Unfortunately, Heritage House's private parking lot is accessed via School Street, so it's impossible to get to the Inn between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. According to Becki (who clued me to the secret of taking the alley halfway down School Street to escape the lot during the day), this construction has been going on for months, so be aware you may need to delay your arrival until after 5 or sundown, whichever comes firts. Bottom-line, this was a wonderful stay and I would heartily recommend Heritage House Inn and Suites to anyone looking for a comfortable, private alternative to the Comfort Inn.

I went down to breakfast and she couldn't have been any nicer, she checked on folks constantly. When she wasn't filling the food options she was walking around constantly cleaning. She was the only shining star here. On to the room. My wife had the digital key so I asked for a physical key. I got my key and tried to go into the room to change clothes. Guess what, the key didn't work. So down to the front desk I go. The young man working was friendly but it made me laugh when I said the key didn't work and he said I'm not surprised, making me think this is a regular issue. He tried a new key and it actually worked. The room was older with well worn furniture. The room was not very clean despite us just checking in. There were stain on the walls and drapes. The night stand beside the bed was so filthy it was disgusting. My wife went to get a wash cloth to clean it and the washcloth was so gross from wiping the stand. The bathroom door wouldn't stay shut, I had to prop my toiletry bag against it to keep it from opening up completely. It was weird, the door seemed to rub on the floor when you opened it but then when you tried to close it wouldn't latch. On to the shower, it was gross. There were cracks in the tile that had black mold and mildew in it. There were dark spots in the grout lines. The bathroom also smelled bad. We seemed to have an extremely loud mini fridge that constantly turned on throughout the night. My wife travels extensively for work and said this was one of the worst hotels she's experienced in a quite a long time. We originally tried to book the Hilton but it was full so we had to end up here. If given the choice, stay somewhere else.

Basically the cordiality of the staff gave this hotel a star it wouldn't have had otherwise. The pool was unable to be used by anyone other than the 3 male tweens that were out of control. The rules are "responsible adult supervision", there were nearly 15 adults with them and none, NOT ONE, was supervising these out of control children. Other small children, adults, all ages, tried to use pool, but were these out of control children swamped the whole pool area, diving, doing cannonballs (DIRECTLY next to others of any age), and no staff did anything either because of the staff shortage, they didn't have coverage for front and inside. Pool WAS supposed to be part of staying, but only those 3 got to enjoy it since they treated it like one they snuck into with no adults around. Other people asked them to stop, buy the adults with them told them to ignore these requests. When pool closed these children played football, yes with a regular football, not even a nerf one, using the ENTIRE courtyard making it unusable to anyone else. Again no staff did anything. The $10 breakfast was the same as a complimentary one elsewhere. Difference here was we couldn't find anyone to give us the plate. None were out, had to be given them by an attendant and no one was to be found. Every single, EVERY SINGLE, mug, glass, cup, -anything that you were given with drink in it or to drink from- had residue or was still dirty. While mechanical dishwashers break or get clogged, the question is, why were they put out dirty? Why weren't they checked? The room had been cleaned, however a long span of time had obviously elapsed. There was black mold growing in the toilet from water sitting stagnant, there was other mold in bathroom, most of room had dust from lack of use or a 'ready for use again' quick cleaning. We brought allergy medications just in case and they were an absolute necessity. While the staff was nice, very helpful (once you found them), would not be going back unless they can get some more staff to help these actual hard working, short-staffed run ragged ones. Again, if it wasn't for them would be a 2 star review.

AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS -- Health hazard, completely unsafe, and totally unacceptable…read more We checked into the Ramada by Wyndham in Indiana, PA for a work trip and wound up leaving almost immediately -- this was, without exaggeration, one of the most disturbing hotel experiences we've ever had. The property is completely falling apart. The hallways were unbearably hot -- it felt like well over 100 degrees just walking to our room, and it wasn't even hot outside. That's because the windows lining the hallways face inward toward the building, and all the air conditioning units are venting directly into the enclosed hallways. The air was thick and suffocating. Surely that must be a fire hazard, if not just wildly unsafe for guests' health. Everything was filthy -- stained carpets, scratched walls, broken railings. Our room reeked of stale cigarettes, mold, mildew, and cat urine. The carpet was heavily stained, the walls were drawn on, and there were roaches and signs of bed bugs. We left without spending the night. Unfortunately, we had a package being delivered to the hotel, not realizing we'd need to leave so quickly. We tried to call the front desk multiple times -- no answer. We drove all the way back, only to find the front desk worker outside smoking, while the phone was off the hook inside. Completely unprofessional. The building is not secure in any way. Due to the extreme heat and poor ventilation, windows and doors were propped open all over the property, making it feel completely exposed and unsafe. We even noticed abandoned rooms through the hallway windows -- empty concrete shells with no flooring or furniture, just dark and deserted. The pool area was carpeted -- yes, actual carpet around the pool -- and it was damp, musty, and covered in visible mold. The furniture was dirty, the air reeked of mildew, and the entire setup felt unsanitary. The gym was equally horrifying -- every treadmill was broken or ripped apart. This hotel is not just outdated -- it's a biohazard. The fact that it's still operating is beyond comprehension. Shame on Ramada and Wyndham for continuing to put their name on this property. I wouldn't feel safe being in this building for five minutes without a hazmat suit.

First off it wasn't a queen bed, not a full bed but only a double and a single bed. We unloaded our stuff and when my daughter went to the bathroom to take a shower there was no hot water. I got the manager which also was one of the owners and they are from India. When I told him there was no hot water he did not believe me until he saw himself. He said he would be back , 20 minutes pass by and I just put my coat on and walked to the office and saw him on the telephone talking to someone. Here I found out he called the previous owner since they only owned it for one month. He decided to put us into room number 8 which was the night from hell!!! First off the bathroom did have hot water but when you turn the shower on it felt like the water was coming out so hard it would take your skin off. Next went to the bathroom and I looked to turn the heat on and all the guts from inside the heater were not there. Now just remember what all this is going on the temperature is -6 degrees and that's cold as hell. So then the heater unit is built in the air conditioning and it was sent on a 80 degrees. The heat would come on for 12 minutes, then cool air would come in so I decided to turn it up to 82 degrees and still feel cold air was coming in so I turned it off for 5 minutes. I turned it back on and heat was coming out for only 12 more minutes so I turned it off again. I turned it back on and turned it up to 86 degrees which is the highest it would go. Heat only came out for 12 more minutes and then cold air again. I went to the front door and there was a mass of cold air coming in from around the door. This was the worst night sleep I had because I kept waking up cold and had to turn the heater on and off, on and off which to me was uncalled for. The next day. I complain to the owners wife and she said don't give me any bad publicity and I'm not going to refund your money back anyway. The woman told me that I was the only customer complaining and none of her steady customers ever complained. There was only 1 or 2 other people thete the same night as i was. I should have been compensated by at least a 50 percent discount and that's not asking for much when I had nightmare of hell. I'm just leaving people know do not stay there because the bedside I crazy nothing works properly because the people from India are cheap and they call the our country the land of opportunity.. These people should be shipped back to their own country! We never have this problem with Americans only foreigners... You're better off staying right next door to the park inn.
