So 4 out of 5, for a 2-3 star hotel with a surprisingly better self serve free breakfast than I was expecting. As a mater of fact I do feel smarter having stayed there... I would have given 5 out of 5 if the advertised room rates were better, though honestly I can't complain since I had a hiccup with Expedia and both the hotel and Expedia really came through. Many thanks to Rachael, she was fantastic, warm, personable and welcoming - 5 Stars to her!. In the future I plan to book directly with HI reservations. Best part of my stay second to the breakfast, was I got a full night sleep. I am so use to good hotels in bad locations, noisy guests or a room situated over the main entrance where insomniacs carry on as if I wanted to be part of their 2 am conversation. Such was not the case here, our room even faced a wooded area. The only other detractor was the bed, in as much as it was good, a more comfortable bed would go a long way toward a 5th star. I stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights while in the area for work. The staff was very friendly. The room was nice. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was good. The hotel was also very quiet. There are a lot of restaurants in the area. I would most certainly stay here again. The young lady at the front desk was extremely nice. Expensive for the experience . The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good however the place has seen better days. The rooms looked a bit worn, outlets in inconvenient places, snack and drink machines were cash only. Not terrible- but meh. read more

We stayed here tonight and had an excellent stay. The room was clean but there was a slight musty smell but I don't believe there's anything that can be done about that anyway. Hot breakfast was not provided due to COVID-19. Front desk staff was nice. The location is kind of weird it's behind a Hampton Inn. The lobby was exquisite which is surprising for a Holiday Inn Express express. We're actually going to stay here again in another two weeks. read more

We were supposed to have 10 rooms blocked off for our out of town guest for a wedding in June 2023. The event coordinator made a huge mistake and tried to blame us for the mess up when actually it was her fault! The were in no way trying to correct their mistake and basically didn't really care about the mistake! I will not recommend this hotel for anything because they are not willing to correct their mistake! read more

If you use a GPS for navigation, you may be surprised like I was when you arrive here. My GPS said I was there and I was staring at a Hampton Inn! Look carefully and the HI is hidden directly behind it. Once you get settled you'll discover that this is an excellent location. Both a Texas Roadhouse and a Ruby Tuesdays are steps away. Within a three minute drive you can visit about a zillion other restaurant/bars/stores. Very, very convenient. The hotel itself is very good. It underwent a major remodel about a year ago. Everything is bright and clean. My room was spotless and the housekeeping staff kept it that way. The staff was uniformly friendly. My morning breakfast was hot and fresh. If you need to stay in the area on a budget these folks would be a great choice. read more

After a poor experience on a previous trip, followed by a nice letter from the hotel manager, we gave the HI Express in Hanover a second chance. And the hotel and staff didn't disappoint. Upon arrival, we received our welcome bag (one of the perks of Platinum Priority Club status, resulting from far too many business trips!) filled with goodies including chips and snacks made by local companies. The local fare was a nice touch and a refreshing change from what most HI locations offer. The room was clean, quiet, well appointed and perfect for a quick business trip. The staff was cheerful, helpful and exhibited a true "can-do" spirit that made every minute of our stay enjoyable. The breakfast bar wasn't what I eat for breakfast; however, it was clean and delivered a wonderful "grandma's kitchen" kind of aroma, filled with freshly cooked bacon and scrambled eggs. Concerning value for the dollar, there's not a better hotel in the area. The good news -- we'll be back. We're fans. Keep up the good work. read more

I essentially live in hotels, so it's hard to impress me. This hotel happened to do so on multiple occasions. The first was when I bit into the warm triple chocolate cookie, it was that good. The second was when I walked into their gym. It had everything needed for a great workout including adjustable bench, free weights up to 50 lbs, bands, excersize balls, etc... Then there was a privacy cover on the view glass on the door. In the morning, there were delicious, juicy oranges in the fruit bin. This is the hotel I'm staying in the next time I'm in town! read more

Holiday Inn Express of late has been hit or miss. This location was a miss. The staff was friendly and the room average. Hence the three stars. That's where it ends. The hotel had a very distinct cat urine odor and urine in general in the hallways and elevator. As an asthmatic it literally took my breath away. Needless to say, I won't be going back to this location. read more

I rate this hotel at 1 star because on November 16 I started here for 3 days, yes the first day I got there was great, I was tried my traveling so I thought a night at a HOTEL would be nice. But no the problem didn't start until the next morning of, I woke up got my breakfast and carried on with my day, later that day I had an engagement that evening so I figured I would take a hot shower freshen myself up. NO! When I turned on the water I stood there to let it warm up, I carried on to gather my things and still feeling the water to see if it was hot enough. No. The temperature never charged. I stood at the shower for about 20 min waiting for the HOT water to kick in. At this point I'm frustrated beside I thought, since I would stay at a hotel I wouldn't have issues but no. I call down to front desk asking if they had hot water. The guy just kept beating around the problem stating they had hot water. I asked him " well why isn't mine hot" couldn't give me a answer. He called maintenance and he came up to look at the shower. Maintenance guy said " oh you have to run your sink water and your shower water in order to get hot water". As soon as he said that I was puzzled. I told myself... this is a hotel right?? I shouldn't have to do all that just to receive hot water. Once he messed with it, he told me it was nice and hot and that it could burn my finger. I went to proceed to take a shower... and why was it cold. at that point I was over it! I was then late to my engagement and still couldn't take a shower. They only have hot water on the bottom floor. Never staying here Again and such a waist of my money. Never again. read more

In January 2013 I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Hanover PA. The stay was average and I have nothing to complain about. Several weeks after my stay I found that I was double charged for my first night. They had taken an extra $150 from my credit card. I contacted the hotel and I was informed by the manager that I had made two reservations. The first one I had cancelled days prior to my visit because I changed plans. When I changed plans again and decided after all to stay at the Hanover PA hotel I made another reservation because I had cancelled my original reservation. Little did I know that the first reservation was non-refundable. Nothing told me I was going to be charged when I hit cancel reservation on the priority club app on my phone. This is a new little feature that has been snuck in there on the Holiday Inn website and is usually your first option when you choose your rate now. I made a mistake and I did not realize my first reservation was non-refundable and made a second reservation when I decided to stay there. Any reasonable hotel would not charge me double for the non refundable cancellation and for the actual reservation and would likely apply the non-refundable funds to my actual stay. If they would refuse to do so I would certainly not stay at said hotel. Luckily for us travelers most hotels treat their customers and especially their elite customers very well and would never take advantage of a clear mistake. This hotel refuses to refund the double charge. This hotel manager even lied to me and told me "I cannot refund you the money. Only priority club can refund money" like I am completely stupid. The General manager said "maybe you booked two rooms for two people". I said I didn't. I was on business and only booked 1 room. I only used 1 room right? She then basically used the "Neener Neener Neener I got your money and I'm not giving it back" tactic. I spend hundreds of nights a year in Hotels and most often in Holiday Inns. I have had biling issues in the past and every single hotel has corrected mistakes when in the moral wrong. Never have I had such a childish general manager treat me so poorly. This is now about principle. This hotel was not even close to full any of the 7 or so nights I stayed but she must have enough business that she doesn't need mine or my company's patronage anymore. Any hotel that wants to keep their customers would be happy to have me pay for the nights I actually stayed and would not be keeping my money based on a technicality. Please do not stay at this hotel. If there is any technical reason to take more money from your credit card they will take it without any regard to what is the correct thing to do or the right way to treat their customer. My co-workers and I account for 30 to 40 nights a year at the Hanover Holiday Inn alone and are all Platinum elite at IHG and equivalent club level at several hotel chains. This hotel almost shares a parking lot with the Hamton Inn and I am 99% certain that the Hampton Inn manager would never treat a customer this way. To this HIE's credit they have a very nice office manager named Vani. She has tried to reason with the General Manager and agrees very much with my position. She told me that her conversation with the General Manager about this topic did not go well. Between my company and my customers in the area we will remove many nights from this childish hotel manager and I hope others will read this review and take their business elsewhere. read more

The hotel is so nicely decorated and clean. Everyone here is so nice and friendly. The rooms were quiet and clean. I will be staying here every time I am in the area. There is plenty of parking and a lot of restaurants and shopping nearby within walking distance too. read more
