My wife and I stayed here for two nights during a trip to clearwater. The hotel was what you would expect from a holiday inn. Since we went during the offseason the prices were cheaper than usual. The service throughout was great, and they even let us check in early. There is also free parking, which is great. It is about a 10 minute walk to the main area of Clearwater beach with Pier 60 and all of the other attractions. However this was not a big deal for us, and there are still plenty of food and shopping options even closer to the hotel. We did not get to use the pool because it was too cold, but the view from the pool area was amazing. This is definitely a good alternative to some of the more expensive places to stay in clearwater. read more

Pool area was a bit small but still worked out fine. The hotel overall It is a bit dated but I like it. Kind of cozy and nostalgic. Small improvements could be made here and there but this isn't a luxury 5 star place. One thing was the game room should be open late past 8pm!! This hotel is waterfront on the bay inlet is I guess how you would explain it. If you walk down a little ways there's a small private beach and we love it. It doesn't get overcrowded like the main beach and there's tons of shells, dolphins and stingrays to be seen. When we checked in we had the sweetest girl Aide she was so nice. She switched our rooms to 2 beds from one. She also hand cut the decorations for the front desk!! So cute! The key card machine was not working which wasn't really a big deal they sent someone immediately to let you in. So it didn't bother us. The only thing they've changed lately is you have to wear wristbands around the pool. I put mine on my bag and they were ok with it. Everyday they came by and also asked your room number. The good things: Free parking, kids eat free, breakfast package was nice, our room/suite was massive- two full bathrooms and a nice kitchen area The bad things: the hotel, or at least our room, was so dated and worn. The "sofa" in our suite was gross- the cushions were basically flat and the fabric was stained. The bed was like sleeping on a concrete slab. Our room was right over the drop off for the food/linen/garbage trucks so there were incessant backup alarms for over an hour one morning. Before sunrise. Restaurant food was decent, if not generic. Our waitress the first night was outstanding, the staff the next morning seemed annoyed to have customers. Overall, I would not stay there again and was disappointed in the room and atmosphere. We decided to do a short over-nighter on the west coast over a recent weekend - these stays usually involve the beach, great food and lots of alcohol so driving after check-in is minimal, so the location is so important. I'm a Spire Rewards member with IGH Properties so they comped the room then upgraded us to a suite during check-in - well the suite on the 7th floor was actually two hotel adjoining rooms converted to a "suite" so there's two entrance doors off the hallway and two full bathrooms - one room set up with dual queen size beds the other room set up as a living area. Ok it was poorly executed but I do appreciate the effort and it was for one night so it worked fine and it was clean. The check-in process was painless and they did thank me for my loyalty and added some additional stay bonus points to my account. I didn't really take advantage of any of the hotel perks so I can't speak of those, although it's always nice to stay where there's a bar and restaurant onsite - being the hotel is located on the water the patio is spacious and is very accommodating especially for family stays - two pools, a few outdoor games, sun deck, tiki-bar and game room. The parking garage is attached to "The Edge" Hotel and is twenty dollars a night and although it's possible to find a space in front of the hotel for the same price it's really unlikely - seems these spaces are taken up early with beach parking (they pay the $20 fee as well). The conference hotel was full so we were booked here. Overall, not a bad location. The front desk staff seem to randomly disappear at times so you're left waiting for someone to return. The key cards are the worst. My coworkers had to visit the front desk daily to have cards reset (no there were not near phone). One of the staff was very rude but everyone was fairly pleasant. The AC in my room was a little temperamental at times. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Water pressure was great. We utilized the pool and Bayside area nightly to hang out. Very beautiful view. In close walking distance to man restaurants and pier. Trolley runs right out front. read more

This hotel is in almost the perfect location in Clearwater Beach. It is right next to Shephard's so you can enjoy the late night entertainment. It's walking distance to the south end of the beach and just a little further to the pier and the boat docks. The floors aren't the cleanest (there was a lot of trash under the dresser that the maid had missed) and the A/C unit was loud (like a jet taking off) but OK otherwise (the beds were clean and comfortable and the bathroom was spotless). Big menu and lots of amazing drinks.. the staff was okay, not mean but definitely not friendly. now let's get to the good stuff. The front desk was probably some of the WORST people I've ever had to deal with in the hospitality industry. I travel all the time and always stay at Holiday Inn, but no anymore if I have to deal with people like these people that this location. I went for a wedding, my girlfriend dressed in her bridesmaid outfit left something in her room and her key wasn't working.. (literally everytime I went to my room it wouldn't work) didn't have her license because we were literally 5 minutes from walking down the isle.... And the GENERAL MANAGER was the RUDEST person I've ever been with. Pros: Not many. The attached Jimmy's seafood restaurant was pretty good. Cons: Bring your own toilet paper, tissues, and towels. The ones that come with the room are horrible. The toilet paper is like sandpaper. The tissues would be called the never picker uppers, like sheets of paper. The towels are abrasive, too. The WiFi password expired too soon, so we were without WiFi the last night we were there. I could have called for a new password, but it was time to get to sleep, so I didn't bother. Just FYI, when you pay extra to get a "free" breakfast, it's not free. You pay $11 for the benefit and they deduct $25 from your bill. So you get $14 worth of breakfast free. You'll always end up paying for some of the bill and all of the tip (if you tip based on the full price, which we did). Anyway, we'll never go back there again. read more

Stayed here on a recent Saturday night. Hotel room itself was pretty standard. Parking was in a large garage next door but there was no connection to the hotel and the elevator was quite slow. Hotel screwed up a bunch of stuff with our reservation which took awhile at the front desk to sort out. Pool and patio overlooking the Gulf gave amazing sunset views. There were some but not a ton of restaurants and other things (including the beach) in the area which was good since traffic was so bad we walked everywhere. We took a short weekend getaway to Clearwater Beach. I'm a Platinum Elite Member of Holiday Inn so I stay at their properties whenever I can. We had my sister in law with us so I ordered a King Suite. Two rooms with two bathrooms. Perfect. We check in Friday evening after dinner. BTW. $18.00 per day for parking. Turns out they upgraded us to a Penthouse Suite. Bravo Holiday Inn. So I thought. First problem, instead of a king bed, there are two queens. Not the end of the world but then the big problem. My sister in law finds a dead roach on the floor. Unacceptable. I go down to the front desk, explain the sleeping situation and then had the desk clerk a tissue with the roach. He is appalled but explains it's a "Palmetto Bug". OK let's talk about this. I lived in Miami in the early 70's. I understand Florida is a tropical climate with a propensity for bugs, but Floridians have been brainwashed to believe that roaches are Palmetto Bugs and serve a purpose. No they don't. They're roaches no matter what you have been told. Well now I have to crazy women freaking out. The desk clerk, Marcus is very understanding. He sends up engineering to check it out and spray the suite . OK. Next he comps me several thousand valuable IHG Points. Getting better. Next he voids the $18 parking fee. Let's get back to the hotel. Can't beat the location, right on the gulf. Heated pool, restaurant on premises, and walking distance to anything you need. I'm shocked this hotel is not reviewed higher. We absolutely loved our stay here & plan on coming back. The rooms are a bit outdated but our room was clean & the bed extremely comfortable. The maids aren't entering rooms right now due to covid but we found a clean bag of towels & toiletries outside of our room every day. Anything we needed a call down to the desk & they delivered in minutes. The rooms have microwave & mini fridge as well as a Keurig with coffee assortment & tea. The products in the bathroom are Bath & Body Works. Tv has large variety of channels including all the HBO channels. We brought microwave popcorn & enjoyed watching a movie or 2 before bed. The sunset views are AMAZING. We were able to spot dolphins one night swimming close to the hotel! There is a sunset countdown clock in the lobby & they do a countdown in Jimmys. Loved Jimmys. So convenient to have a good restaurant on the property right downstairs. Great to grab a bite after traveling before we knew the area or where to go. The breakfasts were huge. We saved 1/2 & had breakfast for the next day too. Tried most of their food. All very good. Service was on point. Love the live music every night! The location could not be better. We walked everywhere.... convenient store , shopping, beach, all the great restaurants! Cesare's on the beach was a short walk for a wonderful Italian dinner night out. We skipped dessert everywhere we ate because we loved the ice cream at the shop down the road & the crepes right next door. Beautiful views of the island from Jimmys rooftop at the edge next door. Gorgeous clean heated pool & cute arcade. Yes the machines are old & some weren't working correctly but we still had fun getting in some skee ball, Ms PacMan & air hockey. The beach is beautiful. Access is out the front to the left. There are restrooms & chairs/ cabanas to rent. Right across from many places to eat as well. The Causeway is a short Uber ride away for under $9 & there are restaurants & shops as well as the boat tours, dinner cruises etc. This is where Pier 60 beach is located as well. Lots of activities there. There is a trolley that runs up & down the main roads. Look for the poles with the big sun on them. Trolleys are free right now because of covid. We ended up getting in this hotel last minute after our disaster air bnb at treasure island. This hotel needs updating inside. Decor is definitely early 2000s but we really didn't care. The hotel keys stopped working a lot and our key reader on our hotel door was really hard to get into. We had to under it about 5-6 times before the door actually unlocks however those are minor issues. The front staff was half and half. Some were super kind others were pretty blah. They pick and choose when they want to tell someone to wear a mask, if someone makes a fuss about someone not wearing one. People are coming here to Florida for a reason, we don't want to be harassed about masks. Over it. The older lady in the gift shop was sweet and kind!! This hotel has a great pool and a perfect arcade for kids! This was more of a family hotel so thankfully we were able to not be surrounded by drunk teen spring breakers. The bartender by the pool made us some delicious drinks! The hotel is in walking distance with basically everything. The only thing you would prob have to drive to is a larger store like target or Walmart. The elevator closest to our room didn't work the whole time so we walked the stairs to the 3rd floor. This is where my friend and I stayed when we went and visited Clearwater. Overall, I really like the location, we were very close to the beach, within walking distance. Jimmy's was OK for food, we actually ate there once for lunch and ones for dinner and the view from the outside patio is beautiful. The pool was decent, you had to get there early and there were a lot of kids, which I didn't take into consideration when I booked. I would NOT recommend this hotel. The staff is super rude and it's so not worth the price. We were really happy visiting the restaurant down stairs, Jimmy's Fish House & Iguana Bar and had great service on our last visit so we decided to stay here but everyone as been so rude this time. Not to mention you pay an extra $20 to park overnight, not optional and everyone else from the beach parks there so it's impossible to find parking bc it's shared with the Edge hotel. Just spent two nights there. At check in they saw the husband is platinum with ihg so they automatically offered us an upgrade to an ocean front suite. It's not a true suite in that there is no separate bedroom but it was really large, with a full kitchen and a great view from the balcony that had a small table and chairs on it so you could relax outside. The room was really clean and had a nice size bathroom and closet. Noise from outside and other rooms was very minimal. They are doing construction though so rooms closer to that do get noise from 7-5 when they are working. And it leaves parking hard, but they have very impressive free valet parking. See pic for the spot they had our car in. Easy walking distance to beach walk and circle. The jolly trolley also pics up in front if you don't want to walk or drive. Had restaurant on site that is right on water that is open all day. Also have casual coffee joint that supposedly specializes in waffles but when we went in at 8:30 the waffle person hadn't shown up yet. The key lime and blueberry muffins were good though. You can't beat the location. Very short walk to beach, restaurants, water park slide on site even a CVS on the corner. Check in was fast & easy. Room was large and clean. Hotel is cool open beachy concept. Here are the BUT's..... If you have heavy luggage you have to drag it up two flights of stairs to the front desk. Not easy. The kitchenette in my room was literally right next to the bed which was weird. When the maids roll the cart outside the room it sounds like booming thunder. When the AC goes off you can hear so much noise in the open area within the hotel. I had to wear ear plugs not only for the noise but because the AC was very loud. Ask for a quiet outside room away from the lobby. My mattress was old and very soft. Not comfortable. Room 226 time to replace it. Otherwise the staff was very pleasant and I was traveling alone. Their description is misleading. It says "directly on the gulf". It is not. It is on the channel that feeds the gulf. I expected to have sunset views from our GULF FRONT hotel, that I paid extra to have a balcony on. I could have stayed at the Don Cesar for less, had better service, better views and cleaner rooms with far more comfortable beds. Skip it if you're looking for true gulf frontage. No beach. Not 60 seconds after I posted this a "customer service" Rep called to welcome us to the resort and asked if everything was to my satisfaction. I told them no and why. She said "I'm really sorry, there's nothing I can personally do about it, you'll have to speak with the manager". So holiday inn doesn't empower their customer service reps to do anything. The staff at the front desk could use a little work on the speed of check in and out, and a better coffee shop but besides that everything went smoothly. The hotel itself is very nice for this price range in this location. The staff is very nice, attentive, and quick to respond to your needs. Our room was clean and well-appointed. It looks like they turned two adjoining rooms into a suite, and it was a little odd that the bathroom in one side was very differently appointed from the bathroom in the other side. Only one side gets a balcony. There is a major construction project that's been going on for some time as the hotel massively expands its room count. As I write this, the whole of Clearwater Beach seems to be covered with construction cranes, new hotels going up, etc. At the crack of dawn, the sounds of heavy construction will drown out the waves and sea gulls that you came here to hear. Our room would have had a great sunset view prior to the expansion project. Be aware, if you pay for a room with a view, you'll get it! But your view of the sunset may very well be blocked now by the new wing, as ours was. Also, be aware, every single night there is live music down near the pool and it goes on until 11PM. If you like to go to bed early, this is probably going to bother you. Likewise, if you like to sleep in late, the sounds of construction in the morning are going to bother you. I found the pool to be very clean and meticulously maintained. They have someone on staff that I'd see out there every morning on their hands and knees scrubbing down the area around the perimeter of the pool, vacuuming it, sweeping out any floating debris. There is a limited selection bar by the pool where you can get a few different cocktails and lower end beers. Attached to the hotel are a restaurant and a coffee shop. My advice? Don't waste your money on either one. There are far better alternatives a short and pleasant walk away from the hotel. This was my greatest disappointment. The Holiday Inn has one of the best locations on the island with some truly stunning views and a patio that goes right to the sea wall. But the in-house food services are garbage. I left most of my dinner from the first night on the plate because I found it to be pretty inedible. One other warning, if you're traveling with kids: The game room. This is the one part of the hotel that is NOT well-maintained. Many of the games were happy to accept money without offering a play. The hotel doesn't really take care of this area and you'd do well to avoid it. There was an ice machine that was broken the whole time we were there (about a week) on our floor. I don't know how long it was broken before we got there, but it was still broken when we left. Parking was $12 per day, 1 car limit per room. Forced valet parking. The valets were kind and courteous. My car was always covered with construction dust and "funk" when I got it back. Your car is being parked right under a ~10 story construction site. If it sounds like I'm giving a laundry list of bad things, I'm trying to tell you every single bad thing I noticed. Truly, we liked this hotel and would return. Just... not until the construction is done. The construction is bad. The hotel could hang insulated tarps up to contain a lot of the noise but did not bother with the expense. We were told "limited construction on weekends" but the noise did not abate. We were told they didn't start until 7AM, but we found it would start sometime between 6:30 and 6:45AM. The bad news is that most of the island has big new hotels going up all over the place. My family wants to come back to Clearwater Beach, but not until this mess has subsided. This IS NOT a "beachfront" hotel. It *is* a waterfront hotel. You have to go for a short but pleasant walk all of the hotel premises to get to the beach. I will start off by stating the place is beautiful, the scenery is awesome, the restaurant and bar treat you right and the amenities are great too! JUST DON'T LET THEM GET YOU INJURED! With all that said, my wife and I got in late on the 1st so we didn't completely unpack the car on the the 2nd. So on the 2nd we used one of their luggage carts to bring up our remaining luggage and food we had purchased at the store. Of course, the wheels we all out of whack so we did our best as it continued to fail as we used it. After finally unloading at our room we left the cart there and told the front desk it was there but it was dangerous and broken. The lady stated "I know it is so leave it there and I will send someone up to get it and fix it." Speed up hours later after we spent the evening at their Bar, we headed back to our room. Well....the cart was still there inside our room in front of the door?? We tried to move it but the broken wheel wouldn't budge so when my wife tried to shove it out of the way, the wheel broke off and she fell into the dresser putting a huge gash in her face and breaking her tooth. After a 911 call, trip to the ER, nearly 30 stitches, a broken tooth, and now 3 procedures later, the hotel has told us to pound sand, that they are not going to help us and I quote "there was no cart on the floor" (Um, their incident report that they wrote signed and filed states there was) and my wife "was intoxicated putting doubt in her credibility". (Um, their 2 bars were the ones serving her alcohol all day! Did they over serve?) we did try and make the best of the trip but spent a day and a half in the room due to her massive pain. So now we are stuck with a stack of medical bills due to their lack of making sure the safety of their guests was top priority and a massive scar on my wife's face (for the rest of her life) reminding her that this Hotel has NO morals, values or Ethics! I will end by stating the staff at the time was helpful after the incident and did try to make sure she was comfortable but their management, owner and insurance company are weak and selfish individuals! Again, awesome place....just don't let them injure you and I will spend as much time as I need posting this review on every platform possible! read more

We recently spent the weekend here with our kids. We had a great time. I was disappointed to learn that it was not beach front, and with 3 little ones, the 3 block walk to the beach was just too far with all the stuff we would need. But the pool was excellent and we eventually found a little private beach area behind Duval's conference center next door (also owned by the Holiday Inn.) The staff was super friendly, and we loved the food at Jimmy's Fish House. Kids eat free, so that made it super easy to stay right on property! Our suite also had a fridge so I was able to bring snacks, etc., for the kids. I wish our balcony had a water view, rather we overlooked the Shepherd's parking garage. But the big negative for me was that there was NO security code on the TV for movies and video games. My daughter managed to order a movie and 2 video games during the 10 minutes I was in the shower. She didn't watch the movie, and she played each of the games for a few minutes. I had no idea she did this until check-out and I saw it on our bill. There really needs to be some sort of password/code so that kids can't order this stuff. Thankfully staff took it off our bill upon checkout, but it would have been over $45 if I had to pay for it! There is a sales person named Mike, who is sitting at the guest desk pressuring visitors with free jet ski, sunset cruise and other "free experiences" don't fall for it like we did. It's sales pitch and waste of time. He works for (Arcadia resorts) Beds/pillows very uncomfortable and squeaky. Air conditioner has no auto, you'll always want to keep pushing it every so often to actually get the room cool enough. If I knew this, I would of went to the Edge right next door. Screw this place. I have to start by saying how incredible the staff at the front desk were. Upon arrival the nice woman at the desk gave us chocolated for a "Valentine's Welcome" and explained for of the discounts and packages that the hotel offers for nearby attractions. My husband is a Spire member with IHG so we got a couple of drink coupons for the bar by the pool. The pool is very nice. There is a lot of chairs and loungers and the pool itself is quite big with a small shallow kiddie pool next to it. There is also an awesome little beach bar, a couple litte area of games (like connect four), and it all overlooks the gulf. Our room was nice, although a little outdated. The bed was very comfy. We did find a used tooth flosser and pic laying on the floor by the bed but everything else was pretty clean. The hotel iself is a short walk from Pier 60 and the beach and there is a ton of shopping and restaurants near by. read more

The food is very good but the draw back is the bartender needs to go fetch the food from the kitchen so a server is needed! During Covid things still were pretty good and to no fault of there own due to people refusing to come back to work they ended up under staffed at times ! Mike is my favorite bartender/ manger !! The biggest need now is more umbrellas around the pool and bar area !! Too hot to sit by bar and pool without some type of cover !! Maybe a portico near bar would help !!! The hotel itself has an ideal location right on the beach : the Gulf ( no sand, have to talk about 5 min to beach ) but, it's great to watch the boats pass by + great pool side area to the Gulf. Rooms are decent , but the biggest weakness was the restaurant---/- Jimmy's Fish house. It is the same same ownership as hotel but diff Mgmnt. Every breakfast has poor set ice , no mgmnt, no leadership , very poorly organized ; Wait staff was trying to wait on tables , seat people , & make their own drinks ; there was almost no one busing tables . Which means the birds were left to attack food / tables thst were left dirty + just sitting. It was very ugly while trying to eat your good as birds destroyed the table next to you . Terrible. I was on level 5 with a "city view" but all I saw was the hotel next door. The AC was leaking EVERYWHERE and the staff never "got to it". Speaking of staffs, they were just as awful! When I was checking out, there was no one in line, but the staff member who was helping me kept rushing me. She kept rolling her eyes and shaking her head at me!!! I just wanted to know why I was charged twice and why did my bill say less than what I was charged?? They already took out the incidentals and the parking fees but I was charged TWICE with a totally different amount that was on my receipt! When I went to dinner, I paid on my debit card and/or cash. The staff was certainty giving me a hard time and purposely trying to aggravate me. I will NEVER in my life use any Holiday Inn hotels, ever again! Not worth the money. Paid $171/night not even for oceanfront. Room smells musty. Lamp is dented and leaning. Touch up paint on the wall doesn't match the original. The bed is not comfortable at all. The hotel has a great service, perfect view (you can see the dolphins in the bay!!!!) from big rooms. I loved the pool, the restaurant with live music, delicious drinks and tasty key lime pie. I will miss this place!!! The only disappointment was a guy who works in the front desk. His name is Robert. He checked in us, he was really rude. The next day the woman in the front desk apologized us for his attitude and she gave us a coupon for a free drink in a bar. read more

I stayed here for a conference for a week in February. If I had paid for the stay out of my own pocket my review would probably be 2 stars but since the company paid for it I'm being generous. This Holiday Inn needs some serious updates. I can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel this dated. Some specifics: -vending machines & washer dryers only take quarters -very minimal outlets in room (we had to use an extension cord to plug in everything we needed) -no recessed lighting in room. Even with the curtains open there were certain parts of the room that were always dark. The Keurig and sink happen to be in this dark area which made coffee-making especially hard. -unused arcade with constant music. We had to walk by this arcade to get to our room and the same jingle played over and over again. I would get it stuck in my head before bed which was super annoying. No one was ever in there and it's a huge waste of electricity to have those machines on all the time. I was bothered how the hotel was so un-environmentally friendly. There was no place to recycle and the catering staff for the conference were constantly throwing out our cups that could easily be reused throughout the day. There was a breakfast buffet in the morning (just for the conference guests) and if you got up before finishing your meal your plate would be gone by the time you got back from the bathroom and you'd have to get a new plate. I get that they wanted to be on their clean up game but soooo much food was wasted. There is no beach access, which is something you may want to consider if you stay here for pleasure. This didn't matter for me because I was working 12 hour days but if you are on vacation you should be aware. On a positive note, the sheets were clean and the bedspreads appeared to be updated (important!).
