These guys were great! we hired them to replace our roof and well house and they did a great job!…read moreeven after discovering additional work needed to be done they got the job done, everything fixed or replaced, and in before the rain really came back!

My experience with Combat Construction started out promising but ended up quite frustrating…read more Jesse, the owner, seemed very friendly and gave me a really reasonable bid for a new fence and short retaining wall. When they put the fence in, it looked great with the exception of one 8' section that was not even with the rest (it sat 3-4" higher than the adjacent sections with a 3-4" gap below). I asked Jesse why this had been done and ended up asking for it to be fixed, which really seemed to annoy him. There were a couple of other inconsistencies with what Jesse said he was going to do and what he actually ended up doing. For example, he had said that there would be a 9.5" grass board along the bottom of the fence, but he used a 6" one instead. He also told me that they would be applying a clear coat sealant on the fence and instead he put on a "cedar" color stain. When I asked him about the color, he also seemed to get perturbed. The fence ended up looking great, so I didn't mind that he used a stain, I just didn't understand why he specifically told me he was going to use a clear coat and then used a colored stain. I was also lucky that my neighbors, who were sharing the cost, didn't mind the changes. They then tried to install my retaining wall directly on the dirt/mud in my yard with a corrugated pipe sitting on the dirt behind it. When I told Jesse that I thought that the wall needed to be installed on a compacted rock base to be even and avoid settling and that the French drain would need to sit in rock or have a water barrier between it and the wall to function correctly, he became very upset and told me that "this job was becoming a real hassle." He argued that he had bid for a decorative retaining wall only (not what I had asked for) and that he was already losing money on my project. I found this to be really odd since he was the one that had written the bid. There was no way I was going to pay them to install the wall and French drain incorrectly, so after a heated argument, I ended up telling Jesse I would pay for the materials that they had already had delivered to my home and put the retaining wall and drain in myself. There were a couple of other sloppy workmanship issues I noticed once they had finished. They used a sprayer to apply the stain to the fence and ended up spraying onto my house siding. They didn't replace the corner posts at the back of my property, so there are still old, rotten posts holding up the new fence at the corners. They also left quite a mess when hauling away the old fence, including dropping nails in my driveway and my neighbor's. A few of the boards they installed have since warped or split, causing two so far to detach after only a little over a month. Combat Construction offers a warranty on the fence, but I have opted to fix the problems myself rather than deal with Jesse again. It was really disappointing that they were trying to cut corners on my project and that Jesse apparently felt it was unreasonable for me to question him. The crew doing the work for Jesse were really friendly and professional and the fence ended up looking fantastic for the most part. Based on the deviations between what was communicated to me and what was actually done, as well as Jesse's attitude when asked to do the work correctly, I would not hire them again or recommend them to anyone else.

Veteran Ryan Matteson is top notch with professionalism and superior knowledge in construction in all realms with great communication. I hired Ryan and his team for a new Trex deck, replacing my old dilapidated cedar deck. His team, supervisor Veteran Brian and Will arrived on the scheduled date and found the framing also was rotting and needed a complete rebuild. Ryan was quickly able to accommodate his schedule with a reasonable change order cost and said it would add a few more days. Brian and Will neatly dismantled the deck, and were helpful for me to stack the wood for future projects and firewood. Ryan and Brian framed up and built the new Trex deck with precision, adding two sets of steps on the timely schedule with smiles! I'm so pleased with my new deck, knowing it will last decades because of their professional quality honest hard work. You'll be pleasantly surprised with any project that you hire Matteson Constructing LLC, from beginning to end with a complete cleanup, leaving you with a stunning outcome! They will be building me a new gate next month that's been needed for over a year. I must note too they were always cognizant that my little dog wouldn't escape from the gate as they worked. Thank you! Thank you Ryan, Brian and Will for your awesome service!
