Tasty food with good variety. Service started out strong but got slow towards the end as the restaurant started filling up. Pretty atmosphere and surroundings.

The quality of food, service and atmosphere at Holbein's matches its prices. That's to say, it's all high end. Definitely an excellent choice for special occasions, or tourists like myself who like to splurge a little.

My impression of this restaurant is highly mixed. While I had pleasant expectations because of the positive reviews and pretty pictures online, I was severely disappointed when we arrived. As you walk into the restaurant there is a sign that tells you to wait for someone to come sit you; this process took 15 mins despite waiters passing by. Finally one of them did a quick 5 second gesture towards a free table...thanks. The service after this process was okay so no major comments there. And now comes the food review. This restaurant is a fusion restaurant. While you can order more traditional dishes, there are quite a few "Asian" options. Needless to say the reviews regarding its quality Japanese food needs to be in context to those who have eaten sushi in Japan and in traditional establishments and those who are use to the western style of things. With this in mind, the platter of sushi and sashimi I ordered is a clear 6/10. A little bit above average because the spicy tuna on crispy rice was good; however how hard would it be to stuff spicy tuna in crispy rice? (Two very appealing ingredients in one well known solid fusion combination). Other dishes we ordered were forgettable. I got some fish dish with some vegetables around it and my mother got this Thai noodle dish that catered to the western taste that she didn't know what exactly it was. Keep in mind my comments are just to put in perspective, from my opinion, this restaurant in its attempt to kind of have this Asian influence. Overall, with the price tag that does not justify the food standard, I will not return. Nice mixed juice though.

Holbein's is an upscale restaurant in the Städel, one of Frankfurt's most famous mueums. It's a former Hof which has been enclosed with glass walls to achieve a sleek, modern look. Many of my friends don't like Holbein's. I've never had any problems with it. The cuisine is one of those hard to define upscale regionals which makes it hard to peg. Generally a good place for a special date or for corporate entertaining.

Soaring ceilings, lovely lighting, architectural flowers, subtle Christmas wreaths, this is a beautiful room to have lunch in and I'd imagine very romantic at night. The staff are so sweet and super efficient. The curry was light and very tasty and healthy. Just perfect for lunch on a rainy day. I had the sausages, typically German, with very well cooked chips. The black Hugo cocktails were recommended by the waitress and she wasn't wrong, they were lovely. Really good value too, we liked Holbein a lot

This is an upscale restaurant with a variety of fusion options and in house sushi. A break from traditional German in a lively atmosphere.

An absolutely beautiful restaurant in the Museum area. Expensive but usually worth it. Used to see local promi's in here from time to time.

The restaurants does two settings per night with only a 5-course offering maximum for the first round. Regardless, the food was ample for the 5-course choice and I was more than pleased with the experience. While the space is quite small and the staff are always having to move in and around one another to include guests, it works and provides quite an intimate space. The menu is quite straight forward as are the wine pairings, making a choice quite simple so one can get to the meal quickly. The food and service were both great and I have no complaints. From the bread and butter service to the courses themselves, each was of high quality, great looking, and even better tasting. If you are not planning out weeks in advance, getting a reservation here might be a challenge. The wines were mostly German and again, high quality as the wine regions all offer great combinations with the food. All occasions can be served by a visit to Bidlabu and I'm glad I could fit in a reservation.

Nice ambience and staff all speak English and are good at suggesting dishes to try! Beware portions are large - even by American standards!! My partner and I got 2 apps and a main to share and could not finish. We got the hand cheese music(?), beef sausage salad and a mushroom schnitzel. The schnitzel was by far the star of the show (as we should have expected)! The cheese is famous so we had to try it but sheep's cheese is a bit too strong for me and it had a harder texture than I prefer. My partner liked it though so I'd recommend giving it a shot if you're adventurous!! We also got their homemade lemonade which was a fizzy raspberry lemonade. Pretty good as well but wish I had tried one of their ciders!

Probably won't be back, unfortunately. If you like well lit, upscale, generic restaurants try this one out. The food is good but the ambience is off.

I had done a…read morelittle research on the most reviewed bars in town (with good ratings) and Eschenheimer Turm Cafe was one of the ones that I jotted down. It was also close to where we were so we walked over for happy hour. Ambiance (3.5/5): This bar and restaurant is known for it's tower. From doing a little research, I found that there's limited seating in the tower. Unfortunately, this wasn't a possibility when we were there, so we sat out on their spacious patio. A bit of a bummer, but we made the most of it. The weather was nice so the patio wasn't a bad consolation prize. Al fresco dining is the way to go in Europe. Service (3/5): Pretty much your standard European service. Not terribly attentive, not terribly efficient, but it does the job. You'll have to track down your waiter here and there, but that's pretty much the standard in Germany and Europe as a whole. Food (N/A): We only stopped by for drinks so I can't comment on the food. Drinks (3/5): They have a pretty extensive cocktail list, and it was happy hour, so we were able to get a good deal on their adult beverages. The cocktails are pretty much standard cocktails, not a lot on the inventive side of things. I'm talking things like margaritas, mojitos, Hugos, etc. Eschenheimer Turn Cafe made for a nice break during a day of exploring. It just would have been fun to sit in the tower as it's their most distinctive feature.

You can make a reservation ahead of time online, but we found it didn't do anything special for us as we were told to just pick anywhere to sit and eat as it wasn't very crowded when we arrived. There is SOME indoor dining, but sitting outside is much more pleasant, especially in the summer. They have VEGAN SCHNITZEL on the menu, which was very exciting for me as I am of German heritage but am now vegetarian, so I haven't eaten schnitzel since I stopped eating meat. It was delicious and very satisfying! Also, you CAN go up in the tower. The restrooms are actually up at the top of the tower, which I found very interesting as I wouldn't think it would be ideal to install plumbing at the top of a 15th castle tower. Be sure to go check it out, even if you don't have to pee! Tip: if you order extra sauce, they will charge you for it. We were unaware of this as extra sauce is usually at no charge where we're from (the U.S.), so this is a warning to any Americans who plan to come here.

We walked up the stairs and saw a welcome sign and a server. He directed us to the left towards the lounge area. The lounge area was mostly couches with tables and a fire place in the middle of the table. There were a few regular tables, tv and a decent view outside. Our waiter was nice and dressed very neat. The couches had a few cigarette burns which surprised me because the lounge looked so nice. Once we received our drinks they brought out bread sticks with oil on them.
