DO NOT BOARD AT LUCKY DOG! The dogs are most definitely not lucky when they're here…read more Our two dogs have come home covered in pee multiple times. When we dug further into it we found out they were NOT caring for our dogs. They have only 2 handlers for upwards of 100 dogs. One of our dogs came home with a huge gash on his face and they didn't catch it, or report it to us. They come home anxious every boarding visit. When we dug further we found out that one of our dogs was so anxious she was chewing on a cot (she doesn't chew things at home, or any other boarding place we've ever used.) Instead of telling us, they just made a note in their system that she doesn't get a cot... We asked them to kennel together and so both of our dogs were sleeping on cold hard tile floor for their entire stays, sometimes as long as a week or two when we've taken longer trips. Instead of taking any responsibility for any of this they blamed our dogs. Their manager confirmed to me they don't require handlers have ANY certifications or qualifications. I asked for a GM or assistant GM to get in touch with me about whether they even do background checks and they are ignoring us. Lucky Dog used to be great when they were family owned. Roughly around 2022 they were bought out by a corporation called Village Pet and it's clear they are trying to suck as much profit out of the business while they can. They've raised their rates and cut down on the staff. In NC handlers can only have 10 dogs out per handler so your pets are NOT getting as much attention or outside time as they should be. This place is the worst. We have 4 friends that also used Lucky Dog and after hearing what was happening they're also finding another boarding place. We'll be telling anyone who will listen to ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOGS HERE.

Day trip to Stonefield Cellars…read more It was a warm February day, we pulled into the long winding gravel driveway of the Stonefield Cellars winery. The site of the barren vines in the vineyard, an old farmhouse used for the office and a peak of the winery itself. Chickens in a coop, greeted us from a distance. An old grainery had been converted to a working storage for tending the fields. The pathway to the Stonefield Cellar, in the Yadkin Valley wine country, curved around young landscaping. Neatly kept, the species included boxwoods and azaleas. All were in their winter brilliance. Upon arriving at the front door, a patio was immediately to the right. Wrought iron chairs with inviting thick cushions called out for outdoor seating with a bottle of your favorite red or white wine. We resisted and went inside. Once inside, the tasting room, is a large open floor space. Natalie, one of the owners, greeted us as the double doors closed. The warm welcome and attention are a compliment to the atmosphere of a winery. With a brief overview of the layout, we casually browsed the selections....anything from dinner and dessert wines, to wine accessories, to wine country books with local flavors of local authors. The main attractions are stored on the wall beside the doors to the winery. The bottles were all beautifully presented on a simple but elegant tower wine rack. Cold rolled steel painted black so as not to overwhelm the bottles and labels. Other complimentary offerings were presented throughout the storefront. Collections of pottery, watches, wine accessories, ramblings- all of which occupies the main room. The interior design is subtly presented and adds a bit of class to the winery, the vineyard and the overall operations. For a mere $7, a taster can sample 10 wines in a custom Stonefield Cellars wine glass. We tried one of the sweet dessert wines and 9 of the traditional wines. I enjoyed the Cabernet while the spouse enjoyed the house Merlot. All wines have their distinctive flavors with the right blend of oak- no oak or subtle oak, combinations of the wines- fruity, spicy and/or simple grape flavoring. As this writer is not a wine connoisseur, I would suggest to the reader that maybe a fancier of wine, to try each offering, including the full compliment of red and white wines. Stonefield Cellars in Stokesdale, North Carolina is an enjoyable visit for an afternoon outing with the spouse. Enjoy--ed-

We were excited to see a Yelp event featuring Dream Kreams. We've tried their ice cream twice prior…read moreto their brick and mortar location and knew just how delicious it is. My wife also really appreciates the dairy free options. We stopped in early on Saturday afternoon and were happy to see fellow yelpers, Mike and Marie O. We were immediately greeted by the two ladies working. The space is colorful, clean and welcoming. There are a few places to sit inside as well as outdoor seating in the courtyard. The young lady told us the Yelp event provided me a scoop of either vanilla, chocolate, or lemon crunch. She also told us that In could upgrade it to a premium flavor. I had spotted the Biscoff Cookie Batter Crunch and knew I needed to try it, I absolutely love Biscoff cookies. My wife quickly chose the non-dairy version of Puerto Rican Summer after trying a sample. She let me try a bite and it was incredible. It reminded us of being on a tropical beach enjoying an adult beverage. We learned that in addition to their traditional ice cream featuring dairy, they also offer each flavor in the non-dairy option. My wife is pretty familiar with non-dairy ice cream and this is some of the absolute best! They also offer hot and iced coffee and tea, affogato, and delicious looking pastries. The best place to park is the Liberty Plaza parking garage. You can walk straight into the courtyard from the parking garage and the cost is reasonable at $2 for the first hour. Absolutely a must visit when in Winston and we look forward to bringing out of town guests. A big thanks to Dream Kreams and Erik for this event.

This is a hidden gem for those who love ice cream. To find it, you need to go around the building…read morethat has Thai Harmony and in the back close to What the Pho. Once you get there, it is very pleasant, and the two ladies who were working there were very friendly. Of course, you can sample the ice cream. Both dairy and non-dairy options are available. We chose something that was named "paradise" or another, but it tasted of rum and was delicious. Seating inside is relaxing, with outdoor seating as well. My son, who is not a Yelper, came with us and got an ice cream that was served with coffee, also known as an Affogato. He smiled as he walked away and said he enjoyed it very much.
