Can't really recommend this field. Even when it opened some 10-12 years ago I did not really like going. Hands down my least favorite field due to various reasons. Everyone I have taken to this field refuses to go back and would rather drive an hour or more to other fields.
The first time I was invited to go play here my friend called me, as I was running late, and told me they could not provide air as they did not have gas for the compressor. He ended up leaving around 10:30 when they finally got it working and just told me to meet him at another field we used to go to that is now closed.
Recently I have given it quite a few chances, over looking what I considered major inconveniences for the sake of going to a local field that was close.
Here's my negatives on the field:
- No running water (Bring what you are going to need to drink or rinse gear off with)
- One nasty portapotty (Don't go to the bathroom here if you can)
- Refs starting games can take forever and you have to constantly hound them down.
- Fields sometimes aren't ready to be played, I was told if I wanted to play speedball I would have to blow it up with my friends. So we tried and they ran out of batteries for their blower so we couldn't. I was specifically told to come on that Saturday so we could play speedball the previous Sunday.
- Prices fluctuate drastically person to person and day to day. One day my friend and me both got the same case of paint and entry and we had a price difference of 20 dollars. I took my brother to play one weekend and for 2 entry and 2 cases of paint (3 star) I paid 90 dollars... the next weekend we had paint left over so I just got entry for the two of us and paid 70 dollars. Not sure how they are pricing anything really, it doesn't make any sense to me.
- Players have to regulate problems & lack of management? One of the weekends I took my brother we played woodsball. There was a huge party of airsoft players also using the woodsball field. No refs were there all day, we had to trade off with them to use sections of the field. A small party of paintballers (2 sons and a mother) came to play. Since no refs were there to help, they just started playing on a section of the field that was open while the airsoft players were on it. The airsofters got mad at all the paintballers and told us we shouldn't be allowed to play. No management was there to do anything, people were getting heated and threatening to leave, etc. What shouldn't have been a big deal ended up being a huge deal.
- Don't go if it has rained a lot, the fields from what I have noticed get really swampy.
- Air compressors & Air station need work. Some of the fill panels are broken I guess? Not labeled as such, kids always seem to have problems with the 3k panels. When the air compressors are running (which sometimes like I said they don't even bother with) I usually can only fill up to 3k sometimes 4k if not a lot of people are there. The one day they didn't run it I could only fill up to 2k and at the end of the day I could only get 1.5k (Pretty disappointing to say the least.)
- Parking lot. The likelihood of your car getting shot and having paint on it at the end of the day is extremely high, I have never left without paint on my car or seeing someone else have paint on their car from balls flying over net.
- Net zones are wild.
- Chronographs on the speedball field are more of a second thought, only seen people chrono there once out of multiple times playing there.
Positives of the field:
- For some reason lots of teams have decided to practice here on Sundays. If you also have a 5 man team you probably can get some points in on the speedball field. (otherwise you probably won't be able to play.)
- It's in my local area.
- Everyone seems to be nice and friendly I guess.
I'm sure I could go on with more details, but this to me pretty much sums it up. I'm not sure why they have so many good reviews, perhaps the players have not been to better organized fields, I can only speculate. read more
