After many years with Hoffman we finally terminated them. It became questionable whether we were getting the services we were paying for. This included fall clean-up, pruning, weeding and even mulch. Our neighbor's love their landscapers and their properties always look great so we got a couple quotes. Bids were 30% less AND included more services than Hoffman. So after numerous disappointing experiences we went with a new landscaper. Pays to to look and ask around. read more

This year the company seems like no one knows what's going on, no one communicates, people show up randomly, yet things don't get done in a timely manner. Yes, this season's been very wet, I'm sure scheduling's been tough. But it's not hard to TRY to manage client expectations and communicate. Logistics aren't rocket science. I still haven't had my Spring clean up finished and it's almost Memorial Day! Everyone gets an assigned day. If it rains, it is supposed to roll to the next day. That's not even close to what's going on. It's very disruptive to my family to have random people show up whenever, with no notice, and no care given to whether I have children outside for a playdate. It's also a security risk, because they'll drop off one or two guys (totally inadequate) and the truck takes off. I don't know who these people are, that are wandering around my yard! I work from home a lot and schedule video conferences when no one is supposed to be here, due to the epic noise of the landscaping machines. I schedule around THEM! So if they aren't giving two cents about keeping to the schedule THEY set, my business suffers. Early last year I would have recommended them, now I'm warning of the pitfalls and suggesting you go with another company. I have spoken to them numerous times (nicely) asking them to please work with me, and absolutely nothing changes. read more

The Regency at Prospect Condominium Association Inc. The Regency at Prospect depends on Hoffman Landscapes for our Winter Snow Removal. Our community is a large condominium complex of 366 homes with driveways, a large clubhouse and parking lot, sidewalks and seven miles of roads. Hoffman and their crew are diligent and courteous. They do a great job of clearing the roads, driveways, and sidewalks. Regardless of the amount of snow they clear the entire complex every time. They come back and check for returning ice after a storm and in the spring repair any damaged Belgium blocks, grass areas etc. Regency utilizes many service providers year-round and Mike Hoffman and his team are one provider that we never worry about and never have to check on for their quality of work. read more

I don't recommend Hoffman at all. They are supposed to be a grounds maintenance company and they don't do a very good job. We have been under contract and paying them a lot of money for a few months. The only thing they have done is mowed the lawn and they can't even manage to come on the correct day. If the service improves I will update this review, but I doubt it. I have been a customer for three seasons and they get better each year. Hoffman took over lawn fertilizing, etc this year and the lawn never looked better. All grass cutting and maintenance is top-shelf. They just finished with the main Fall clean-up yesterday and the entire property is spotless. You pay via a yearly contract, not a la carte so they finish the job right, even if it needs more follow-up. You don't get nickeled and dimed for countless services, like other companies I dealt with. Their snow plow service is by contract too. They do not take advantage of a minor snowfall. Yes, Hoffman is a bit more expensive but you get a dedicated supervisor and he is worth every penny. Paying via a contract is also appealing. We are very happy. read more

Less than pleased at the response by this company. Very poor at giving prior notice for scheduling such as snow removal and landscape work. Actual work done is sufficient, but it's a guessing game. Also, still waiting over two weeks for a landscape lighting and proposal. So, the frustration level is high. I've lived in Southern Fairfield County in numerous towns over a span of almost twenty years. Westport, Silvermine and now Wilton and during this period, have used numerous landscaping and lawn care companies. I am in the final stage of a complete remake of my home and landscaping will be the icing on the cake, making my homes curbside appeal quite memorable. Years ago I worked with Young's Nursery who did a massive job for my home in Silvermine but later on ownership changed and the establishment went down the drain. After researching landscapers in my area, I arranged a site meeting with Marco from Hoffman Landscapes who arrived punctually and listened to my observations and requests and formulated a landscape plan based on three essential needs: 1) Very Little If almost no sun, 2) water concerns due to living on ledge and 3) being deer and wildlife resistant. His knowledge of the topography and each issue addressed, was formulated and incorporated into a beautiful landscape proposal which he presented to me for my review. The job was completed three days ago and when I identified a concern, Marco was right on top of it and today their crew came to realign the planting dimensions of two bushes. The layout is beautiful, their service and attention to detail excellent and most of all, Marco is wonderful. If you should need or want competent landscaping expertise in helping to transform your home from ordinary to extraordinary, now you know where to go. We needed to resurface our driveway and include drainage because we continued to have flooding issues. I had reached out to Matt Biron from Hoffman when we first moved into the property a few years back and they gave us a quote. Fast forward 4 years and more flooding, we had them come back out and requote. While it was not the cheapest quote out of the 4 other companies, they made the case for the right drainage based on videos I showed them and did an excellent job. The resurfacing and finishing around the edges and new drainage system have paid off. It always hurt to have to pay for something like a driveway replacement but the spend was well worth what we received. I will look to them for more projects as they come up in the years to come. We contracted with Hoffman, expecting to see a high improvement in our lawn and beds. Unfortunately we did not see any improvement and our property manager, who was supposed to visit our property weekly, was never to be seen. We cancelled, and paid a large cancellation fee, which I'm sure is illegal, however, we were glad to see the back of them. You need to manage them, and be on top of them, and their pricing just doesn't justify the work that they do. They failed to perform various steps that I paid them to do, and in the end, I lost trust and did not want to move forward. Make sure you get a property manager that is present, involved, and communicative, otherwise you are wasting your money. read more
