I see one to three movies a year, so I will just hit a matinee or a discount day at any given theater nearby. I haven't been to AMC Greenbelt in years! Since I was off, I caught a matinee showing. I was in the mall the night before, and was able to get my ticket then. When I came the next day, I walked right in. No one even checked my ticket, but I was an earnest customer, and would have been happy to show mine if someone showed up. Do they not pay attention when it's not crowded though? How curious. The previews had already started, so it was dark. But from what I could tell the theater was clean. And those reclining seats are oh so comfortable! The sound was great, and it's always a better experience when the movie you go to see is amazing. I don't think I've ever shown up at peak time, but I see no reason to avoid this theater if you're nearby and want to see a movie with comfy reclining seats! Merry Christmas!

They offered a free bag of popcorn, books, and resources to parents via a program through the University of Maryland. Story time is about 45 minutes, the story is on the big screen. This is kind of interesting/funny because I'm usually hanging out in this part of Silver Spring 2-4 times a week. The AFI Latin American Film Festival 2026 is what brought us to AFI. While the prices of pretty much everything are rising, I thought the $15 ticket prices were pretty reasonable. Also, the prices for food and drink were very fair. I think that a large bag of popcorn was like seven bucks. Nowadays, popcorn prices can easily creep up to $14+. Also, I thought the theater had a nice selection of canned beers. I'll say the lobby is not too impressive, but I thought the theater was very nice. First, the seats are very well-cushioned and are of a nice size. While the main theater can seat about 400 folks, the seats and rows are spaced out enough so visitors shouldn't feel like they are sardines packed into a small can. Also, I thought the sound and video quality was pretty decent. All in all, I don't think that I have any major complaints regarding my first experience at AFI silver. I hope to visit again in the future. Actually, I have a feeling that I may make another visit very soon because there are a couple more movies from AFI Latin American Film Festival 2026 that I might check out. Although the theater itself does not have its own parking and there are not too many street parking options, there are several parking garages (which decent rates) that are within walking distance to the theater. The closest parking garage is about a 5-10-minute walk from the theater.

I bought a ticket online as I approached only to get a message saying that there would be no previews and no admission after the start time, so I sprinted there. In fact, there were fifteen minutes or so of previews. Other rules about no phones and such were posted, but weren't aggressively enforced. Their food operation was a negative in my eye; when the movie did start someone stepped in front of me to take an order and a credit card number from my neighbor. The smells were dodgy and lights were kept on under the seats to facilitate eating, despite the fact that most people seemed not to finish. For all their promoting how the focus is put on the movie, it just wasn't my experience. For my particular showing, the star of the movie was actually contracted to do a special introduction, which wasn't badly done in and of itself but which kind of detracted from the movie a bit. The reclining seats were comfortable, but I'm not a fan of leather. I'm a bit of an optimist about the number of movies worth seeing and the value of an in-person theater experience, but I usually find myself going outside the District now if I want to see a movie and this experience did not convince me otherwise.

When I called they knew I was so nervous because of the weather changing so much, but they promised me they will call me on the day of the event to make sure the weather was good for me to continue, they kept their promise! We spoke on multiple times that day reassuring me my event will continue. The pricing to have them come to my event and provide all that they provided with only me supplying an electrical outlet and a DVD was beyond AMAZING!!!!!! My tech Eric arrived before on time which was great, he was extremely pleasant he did an amazing job at setting everything up to be certain the movie began on time, he even checked with me to see if the movie was loud enough for us and provided me with an option to go lower or louder with the volume which was very courteous of him to do.
