I went for the lunch menu and totally loved being able to watch all the food be made, made me very excited to eat it seeing all the care that went into each individual dish. Everything was exceptionally fresh. All of the staff was very friendly and very attentive, we never went without water or bread and had opportunities to ask questions, we were treated very well (we were wearing very casual street clothes as it was quite hot in Antwerp at the time) and exactly like everyone else (they were some pretty fancy people there :D). We thoroughly enjoyed speaking with the chefs who you could tell very much loved their work. I would totally visit again!

It's hard to see someone cook something and not be able to taste it in the demos. Well I finally got to try the cooking. The dinner went as follows: -Squid. Black Sesame, Soy, Lime -"Grains and Seeds" -Celery Root, Lemon, Wood Sorrel -Scallop, Potato, Sweet and Sour Mustard -"Ocean and Land" -Milk Mousse, Mandarin, Endive -"Olive" Food was fantastic all around. Their cooking is reminiscent of a wave of chefs like Christian Puglisi of Relae and Inazki Aizpitarte of Chateaubriand. Very few, simple ingredients but very complex flavor profile combinations. Just beautiful amazing cooking. After chatting extensively with Daan the Front Of the House representative during the dinner and then getting to hang with him, Koen and Davy during the Omnivore conference, Im convinced that I need a revisit to their cuisine and experience at Veranda. found this cute little place during my stay in Mortsel. we took a table on the patio and my friend…read morewas nice enough to translate the entire menu for me, as it was in flemish. we had some delicious roasted marcona almonds and patatas bravas to start, and for my main course i had filet mignon with french fries which i thoroughly enjoyed, and my friend had the seasoned prawns. the best part of dinner was the speculoos tiramisu, which made my toes curl. i don't know why this is, but every time i ordered an espresso macchiato in belgium, i received a latte? in italy i'd order a macchiato, and get...a machiatto. anyway, to sum it up, this place is deelish, and it's not this restaurant's fault the entire country is making the wrong coffee drink.
