As you drive onto the campsite there are sacks of logs for you to buy - because here you can actually have a proper campfire(in the allocated fire circles. The site is a couple of large fields, a pond with a small kiddies playing area, a well maintained shower block and nothing much else. Set in the most idyllic out of the way place (although theres a couple of small pubs a short walk away). I live about 15 miles from here, and we often pack our tents after work and pop down here to spend the night chatting and relaxing round a campfire. Brilliant

The village has a 2 mile long beach with a lighthouse and loads of facilities to keep the whole family amused including an indoor heated swimming pool,soft play area,crazy golf,outdoor play area,amusement arcade with mini ten pin bowling,the sunset showbar which has a kids club and live entertainment on every night.There is also a restaurant and takeaway,mini supermarket and a launderette. Don't get me wrong or think I'm being boring as we like to party and have a good laugh as much as anyone else it's just we have an 18 month old baby and therefore this quieter site therefore suits us. The site has many awards under its belt and also has its own pub what is an absolute must. The bar is an old barn and all are welcome including dogs. It has pretty good facilities including good showers and the on site shop gets you away with any essentials you may have forgotten about. The views are good over Ullswater what is about 1 mile down hill. In general the site is small, low key, dog friendly, not over run by kids, quiet site and in a good location.

There is a pub on site which sells local beer and lager however the owners are missing out on the fact they could make a mint if they started selling bar food or meals. Our weekend was really nice however there were quite a lot of children running around the site making noise during the day when there is a playing field provided. I havent a problem with this but the parents should have more respect for other people who are here to relax. Overall we liked the site and will definately be coming again. Close to pooley bridge and penrith. Keswick is easy half hour drive.

There is also gifty type sets of hats and scarves, torches, flasks etc. Upstairs there is a good choice of camping stoves and utensils. Plus boots, sleeping bags, tents etc. Very popular during festival season. Pricing is fairly average. Good comprehensive stock of kit for the outdoor type - saves you having to drive to Keswick to get stocked up if you are planning a camping trip

Strathclyde Park can either be awesome or depressing, depending of course on what you want from it;…read morequiet walking/exercise green space or amusement park holiday destination for kids. I like to go early mornings to walk the dog when it is quiet and you only have the odd jogger and the ducks in sight. I'm not sure the actual distance round the perimeter - 3 miles I think so not bad if you fancy getting a decent bit of exercise. The park also hosts Parkrun on a Saturday morning for semi-competitive folks. The boat house (loads of water sports options available) cafe is also a nice stop off point for a quick refreshment and there is plenty of green space as well as a small beach to chill out and eat some home packed grub. I tend to avoid school holidays and any time after midday as the park sits right next to M&Ds amusement park and can become a bit of a nedfest but to be honest I'm probably just being overly judgmental. Busy crowds just ain't my thing. Definitely deserving of four stars as it really is a lovely part of Scotland and a nice wee escape from the town-y environs of EK, Hamilton and Motherwell.

It's…read morereally really nice and great for running or cycling around, especially during the summer months where this place really livens up with families having picnics, dads showing kiddies how to skip stones in the water and lots of littering from youths, just to keep everything in balance. There's some great swings and such for children and the childlike alike and it's on the site of M & D's which has a good indoor centre with arcade games, bowling and pool which can help make a day of coming here. The rides in the theme park themselves are a bit of a let down. Watch where you park your car at night, as there have been reports of 'doggers'!

Nice facilities, good rates - and well layed out so no one is too cramped or close by. Electricty available for tourers and tents if required. Beach side location on working farm - great for families! Easy to find close to Gatehouse of Fleet and with Kirkcudbright nearby, Wigtown and Dumfries and even Stranraer easily reached, there is lots to do in the area like castles, gardens, smokehouses and fishing, walks, forests and good food as well as just chilling.
