Hi..we used atlas for a 7 day/2 person trip in October,which took us to Oban, Arisaig, Skye,…read moreInverness, Aviemore & finally to the stunning loch Tummel..(quite an adventure considering that we'd pre-booked our rental in august and i had a rather big, unexpected heart attack the following week!!)..so with some reservations regarding my health/physical capabilities,we decided to continue with our holiday..we rented a Toyota granvia camper which was perfectly comfortable for two of us...it was fantastically well equipped to meet our requirements, which allowed us to cook fantastic food and get a really comfy,good nights sleep...and a great "base camp" on the move, to allow us to go out exploring!! The camper had a 3 ltr turbo Diesel engine which ran like an absolute dream,handled brilliantly and was pleasantly economical...all of the appliances worked brilliantly, we had plenty of lighting,a wicked little double hob & a great fridge for the bacon and beer..it also had a pop-up roof which was great for extra headroom.. I would recommend atlas to anyone considering a camper trip in Scotland because for me and my girlfriend, it was the quality of service given (right down to the crockery,cutlery,wine bottle opener and even a free loan of an awesome campsite map!!) that helped make our trip such an amazing one!!! Roseisle is the best!!!…read more After planning our first trip to Scotland, the wife and I wanted to do something a little bit out of our comfort zone...drive in a country we've never been to, on the other side of the road! After hours of research for the best motorhome hire companies, I kept coming back to Roseisle. The entire experience, even before starting the caravan up, was exceptional. The staff graciously picked us up from the nearby train station. Everyone we talked to made us feel like family and many laughs/jokes were exchanged. As for the caravan itself, it was easy to drive (once I got used to driving on the other side of the road). The Highlands of Scotland were magical, and Roseisle assisted us with being able to explore. When we return, we will no doubt hire Roseisle again. Cheers!

I want travelers to beware. I rented a van from this company and it broke down on the second day…read more It is still unclear if it was a clutch cable or the clutch. The tow truck driver said it was the clutch cable. The owners of Classic Camper Holidays say it was the clutch. Their contract favors them and travelers are supposed to plan their trip around breakdowns. The information the owners provided to me regarding the vehicle is vague. I was told that the people who rented the van before me had problems with the clutch. It was also said that the clutch was replaced after they returned it and then that information was taken back. It was also reported that the prior renters had to double clutch. I confirmed this in an email to the owners of the company. From a stopped position, taking off in first gear on a very slight incline, shifting to second and the van would not gain any momentum without double-clutching at that point. The van did not work in any way that could be deemed safe without double-clutching in second gear. The owners also determined that the previous renters didn't know how to drive a clutch. And then decided I didn't know how to drive a clutch as well. (I've driven these old camper vans, multiple manual transmissions including a dump truck). I would have stuck with my original plan which was to drive Mr. T (name of van) throughout my vacation had I not had information that this vehicle was re-rented with a faulty situation that was reported to the Classic Camper Holidays and they did nothing about it. Clearly owners Ian and Becca value taking your money. Clearly they have a lousy process of checking these vehicles out prior to sending them out on the road. Clearly they had a report from the people that rented before me, that there were problems. Beware is all I can say.

The most fantastic Campsite in the World. Whether driving here over Hardknott Pass, via Muncaster…read moreCastle or from Western Lakes - it is beautiful. As you drive onto the campsite there are sacks of logs for you to buy - because here you can actually have a proper campfire(in the allocated fire circles. The site is a couple of large fields, a pond with a small kiddies playing area, a well maintained shower block and nothing much else. Set in the most idyllic out of the way place (although theres a couple of small pubs a short walk away). I live about 15 miles from here, and we often pack our tents after work and pop down here to spend the night chatting and relaxing round a campfire. Brilliant
