I had a great experience here. I needed a gift last minute over christmas last year, and he rushed it so I had it in time. I believe I picked it up the day before Christmas eve! I've brought jewelry to be repaired here multiple times and I like that the work is done on site, and can be done quickly. Other jewlers in town send everything out, even watch batteries. I went here again today because I needed a gold chain, and it had to be extremely specific. Another place had given me a chain that was a terribly yellow color, and they once again rushed it, and polished it to perfection for me to get it done in time. Unfortunately my husband and I were completely scammed!!!! I have a wedding band that I was replacing half of the diamonds on. I was charged a few thousand to put in the new emerald cut diamonds. Well a couple months ago a stone came loose so I went to have it tightened by a jewelry nearby. They refused to fix it because the stones are moissanite and NOT DIAMONDS!!! The stones are worth probably $100 not thousands. We now have to go get my other jewelry checked that we went to these people for! It's disgusting. Of all the jewelry stores in Hoboken, this is the only one that I know of that requires a doorbell and buzzer to get in. For security reasons, I can see why this is a thing. I've never purchased anything here, but have come for watch repair/resizing and gold repair. I wear a Saint Christopher medallion and chain around my neck, and it fell off in the shower (thankfully not anywhere else) due to an aging clasp. I brought it here and got it replaced for $25 - a good deal. My only trouble? Getting it back. It was done 3 days after I dropped it off, but I work in the city every day and get out around 5, which lands me in Hoboken around 5:45. This place is supposed to close at 6, but every time I got there (four times in total)...they were always closed. I even left work early the 4th time only to get there at 5:25 and see they were, once again, closed before 6. I managed to get here on a Saturday some 5 weeks after I dropped my chain off to pick it up. Finally. Great work and excellent repair prices - but watch out for the hours. read more

A little bit on the pricey side. Dropped off a gold chain for repairs last weekend. The clasp came apart as I was getting dressed. Kept the cross that came with it. The gentleman quoted a price then about 45-60 bucks with a cleaning. Turned out that it was a little bit more than expected. Due to the fact of the weight and amount of gold in the clasp. Spoke with Reynold earlier this morning, after four days had passed and turned out it was $65 instead. Not a big deal for me. He gave me a couple of pointers and timeline for the cross that I've worn since it is a treasured item. Seems like he's the gentleman that does the repairs. Worth a return visit in another couple of months for that job. Good honest service thats been around since 1978. For that I'll round up to 4 stars. And much appreciated. read more

This place is awesome! I went in to get my engagement ring adjusted since it was slightly big and me and my fiancé discussed different options with the jeweler as well as the owner. We finally decided on adding beads to the back of the engagement ring so that it can be adjusted throughout my life so that I don't have to do something as permanent as resizing the ring. I don't typically write reviews but I can't help myself - Reynold does amazing work! Last year I had my white gold engagement ring and wedding reset in yellow gold. After the high end Manhattan jeweler butchered the setting (literally destroyed the original white gold setting) I was devastated. She tried to correct it but the prongs always looked imperfect and weak. After bringing it to Reynold to be tightened, since they inevitably became loose, he recommended replacing the entire head so it would be more secure. After some hesitation I handed my ring over for more work (I told Reynold the history and he understood my apprehension and was so reassuring it would be beautiful). Worst customer seevice ever! My Mom bought me a Butterfly necklace from here. One of the cz fell out. I brought it back for repair and I was told he had to order the cz. A month or so goes by and I had to follow up with him. Still after a month no cz and no communicatiin from the staff. I followed up again and found out, only because I called him, that cz came in and it was "fixed" but it did not come out good. and then proceed to tell mw he was trying to find me a new one. Then while he was helping me another cuatimer walked in and the man on phone asked if I could call him back in 20 min. Wait, I am confused am I the customer or do I work for him.
